Something different for today's demo, exploring the mark making potential of drawing ink using a variety of techniques. I will use the drawing ink in a composition similar to the charcoal and acrylic artworks.
I experimented with a silicone brush from the kitchen. Works perfect for unpredictable marks. And pencils with an eraser at the end, or some splashes on the paper, spreaded with an old credit card. So many ways to use ink for markmaking 😊
Hi Dan, thank you for this lovely demonstration. I was wondering how you achieved the circular marks as that wasn't shown. Either you have an exceptional ability to draw a perfect half circle or did you hold the tool steady and rotate the page? I'm considering the old pin in the middle with a string attached but coverage from the center outward instead of a spiral inwards. Any tips you could share?
No, just turn the cardboard, I like to experiment with different ways of making marks using a variety of techniques. Hope this video shows a few ideas to try. Glad you enjoyed it.
Thanks so much, Dan! I love your to the point, simple tutorials! Your are so generous and encouraging, no mystification and no expensive art supplies. Wonderful works. Please keep doing these amazing inspirational videos. You made my day, I've just found you this morning googling monoprinting. Warm regards, Zsuzsa
Inspiring for sure. Well I've got the oil paints, the acrilyc paints, the charcoal pencils and I'll make, some stencils like you describe in your book. I think I have everything I need to make some trys with oils and charcoal. But I would like to know how you protect your oil paintings and the ones made with acrilycs and charcoal. Thanks, Dan 😊❤
