I've memorized every pothole and bump on my commute to work. Some drivers may think I'm drunk when I swerve or change lanes to suddenly return to my lane, but that is low life.
I don't go crazy low in my MKIII Supra, but low enough that I worry about the mudflaps. Maybe that's a dumb thing to be worried about though, it appears that the lower exhaust pipe is the lowest thing on the car (not sure if that is normal.)
Plan ahead of time. Do a dry run. Have a towing business contact who will tow your car regardless of how low your car is. Drive a slow as you can on unpaved/unknown roads. Zipties.
I would never lower my car to the point i have to take 5mins to get over a speedhump, why not put bags if you wana go so low................ It always looks so stupid when i see VW and BMW kids taking 5mins to maneuver over a small speedhump, i mean my bugeye is low but not so low it becomes undrivable
Or dont lower your car to the point that its no longer functional as a car. Lowering a car can do great things for performance and appearance but if you cant get out of the driveway without grinding the chassis, its too low. Why put all the time and money into your car to make it a pain in the ass to drive anywhere and in a lot of cases ride like shit. Find a happy medium between looks and function so you can take your car out and enjoy driving it not worried about what your going to rip off it because of a little dip in the road.
@@FitmentIndustries who has hopes and dreams of destroying the car over any imperfect surface? I understand wanting to be low for a show, there is air ride for that lol.
I've got aircups and i don't get why more people ain't getting them, install was relatively easy, they been super reliable so far and it's hella handy just being able to go from not being able to drive over a bump to being able to drive over it like it's nothing in 1 button press, and it's not even that espensive, the whole setup including the coilovers was about 2500 euro which is still cheaper than full air, at least for my car
You forgot engines raises and fuel cells. If your subframe is like half an inch of the ground there is no point in running a skidplate, just raise your engine above your frame and get a fuel cell. Frames are replaceable, just make sure everything important sits above it (oil pan, gearbox, fuel lines, brake lines, fuel tank). Shoutout to all the static Americans burning their cars down because they rip their fuel tanks 🫡
After lowering my Kia Optima planning my route helped a lot 😂 cutting through the movie theater to go to Delco Tell never scared me so much until I hit a speed bump after lowering it.
Curious how much did it cost to lower it? I just bought a 2015 kia optima and its hella low. Unfortuntely where I live, the roads are especially shit so I'm almost debating on raising it. Just curious what you paid since we have the same car. Also how do you like the car? Im coming from an 03 civic lol.
@@brysonklyn6938 sorry for the late reply, it cost $400 for me to lower it, I live in the middle of nowhere so it’s probably more pricey. And I still love my car never had any issues with it.
@@AttackOnWeeb just got word back from the shop and it’s gonna be roughly the same for me. I appreciate the reply. I pick it up this weekend, I’m amped lol.
Why you’re “ static” vw bouncing so much lol static cars are just that static so they don’t move when going over bumps just smooth like butter when done right. Shit shouldn’t bounce amd jounce
If u just need a little clearance to lift your car use the notched part of the jack stand. After car is lifted with jack out the jack stand back together and use it. Be safe
Ripped my front lip off the day after lowering my car and installing it... Ordered air cups from stance parts the following week and waiting for those to come in now.
I feel like y'all should test out phone holders for cars like ours cause I know the apple vent holder is terrible with some moderately stiff coil overs I find it almost falling out all the time and constantly adjusting my phone holder into position
I flushed all the fluids out of my slammed Eclipse, which sits directly on the pavement, and keep the car on a trailer, then drive the fancy diesel and trailer to every car meet. LMAO. I'm just joking.
Do people forego the air suspension because it's just cheaper to use the static suspension? Does the static suspension provide a more desirable ride than air suspension? If you're going to slam your ride, it just seems like air suspension is the way to go.
I drive a slammed CTS coupe. I also live in the rural country side and have to travel on gravel roads every now and again. Cant go over 5-10 mph. My drive way alone is a 1/4 mile of gravel. Worth it for the look though 😀
OR function over form Japanese drift missile spec…… In all seriousness my car is lowered but not to stancenation 2012 levels, Still looks good and I can slam into a corner at any speed without worrying about rubbing or debeading, Rather enjoy driving hard compared to worrying about if my lip to arch ratio is on point. Unpopular opinion on a YT like this I know but it just makes sense to me
There are only a few good road in Louisiana. The roads are basically made of potholes. And dead animals and furniture chunks on the road is the worst of it all.
I remember i bought a lowered s60R and had to fix it to drive it. And the first time i drove it out of my homes nieghbor hood i grazed the big ass speed bump right at the exit of my trailer park lol and cracked the oil pan. It was thankfully a slow leak and easy to fix but now i drive around this horrible speed bump by driving through the grass 😂
When I have to go somewhere new in my city I take my moms highlander and when I hit a pot hole or go over a big speed bump I make a mental note like “yup forbidden land over here”
My 91 civic was stock height and scraped like a MF! I had to be careful over speed bumps and weird parking lot entrances and it wasn't even lowered! A buddy lowered his prelude to the height of my civic!
I will say that if you live in pa, having a static car migjt be a gamble. I cracked 2 wheels, shattered 1 , and recently cracked my brand new 3 peice wheels
I don't need a tip on this subject actually, I agree with the minority here, don't "slam" a car and you won't need to plan your route, worry about slowing down for "unseen" dips in a road, "Damage to your Ride" etc. Ridiculous unless you don't want to actually "DRIVE" YOUR CAR". I mean if you want to drive around at 15mph, ok, but that is boring and just plain sad. Maybe I'm just old school and like to drive the shit out of my cars, but just stating some obvious things that make it not a great choice for those who want to drive, drift, and track their cars, not worry about preventable damage every 5 seconds. Worrying and trying to remember where potholes are and planning my route so I don't hit shit is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. All that said...Fitment Industries make awesome videos, are great people with a great company, and I will always recommend them to anyone looking for upgrades.
Air cups prettymuch take over where your spring would be on your OEM suspension/coilvoer and replaces that and is able to regulate the air! Airlift 3P is a good brand to look at for the full complete package for Air struts and such, heres a link to take a look at some of the kits we have and get some ideas! -Edgar www.fitmentindustries.com/store/suspension?sort=instock&sub=Air%20Suspension&saleToggle=0&qdToggle=0
