I can't believe how much this has helped me. Breaking it into three concepts really helped. Thank you so much Katelyn! I'm going to start putting this into practice straight away!!
Thanks for the video. I'm saving a collection of flat-lay videos to share with my client's photographers as a guide. One element that should be in your arsenal is clear styling blocks. Fairly cheap on amazon. They create shadows and give dimension to the composition. Plus, the ends of florals or other elements can be tucked under the paper goods. Any additional elements, ie floral or stamps, should be related to the couple and the invitation suite. For example, vintage stamps with a contemporary-designed invitation have nothing to do with one another. Roses, when the florals and decor is bo-ho, also have nothing to do with one another. Speaking for all stationers - please NO shoes!
Thanks for this video! So helpful. I would love to see how you go about styling a single page invitation and also, when you have a large invitation suite, how do you choose the placement of each piece? Thanks so much Katelyn!!
Love to hear more tips on adding in ring boxes and incorporating those detailed shots. What are your go-to add ins that you bring to the wedding (ie ribbon, ring box, backdrop)?
Awesome video Katelyn! I know it’s a ton of work, but would you consider making this into a class? Wouldn’t these principles apply to all flat-lays so its super useful for every subject, not just wedding suites. Love your breakdown of this and you make it look so easy, like everything else that you teach. 👍🏻💕
Loved this! I often have brides who want full flat lays of random details that are important to them but really don't look good together. For example, a bright orange perfume bottle when their invitiation suite has pastel blue and green florals on it. How do you handle this and get nice detail shots that look comprehensive when the items don't go together well?
I LOVE this video KJ! I have a follow up question...how do you decide straight invitation lines with it all laid out linear vs all coming out from the middle in a more diagonal approach like one of your examples (where all the pieces are sort of piled together)? Thanks!!
Great video Katelyn! I have a question similar to Kassidy regarding the items you may bring to the wedding for flat lays, and additionally, do you generally take a flat lay board with you in case you can’t find the right surface to use?
