When you be in Norwich next time? I would like see one day the way you do. I would like in future start in metal detecting. Thanks from a Portuguese fan
Sorry I have left this comment here. Was you in the sheppey field last year. I live just down the road from that event. How did you find the place, not much here a couple of trees and a few shops and some pavements and lots of potholes haven't watched that video. Just watched detectorists Lance the gold coin and the magpie and the greedy man and Andy the spineless episode over the mosaic. I not a grass but Andy's supervisor needed to be reported to the police and have that trucks brought back or staked out and lettuce glued to him and slugs and snail eat him alive. One last thing thanks for the heart and I got a metal detector for Christmas a model called Denver don't know if it is a Denver MET-100 no ear phones bought some for £1.50 also for Christmas got a small spade do I need to get a licence to detect and another thing it takes six AA batteries which are cheap enough £2 for twenty will be looking at some of your vids over night. I saw a bathday tictok looking thing I might give that a watch happy bathday. Dugie dug dig duck moo baa Love mum
Dawny your a complete natural in giving advice to novice detectors and folk that are just interested in metal detectors.. your advice is very informative and helpful…and not only that you add your unique knowledge and expertise.. not to mention your very sweet humour…your a absolute treasure that’s why we continue to watch and enjoy your content…# if you find owt luv you can keep it .. ❤🤭
Very informative Dawn. Here in Australia detectoring isn’t an officially recognised activity and isn’t as well organised or understood as it is your country, so it was interesting to see the way the activity is governed in Britain. Thanks for sharing 👌😀👍❤️
Great tips Dawn! Going out just having fun, it’s not always finding the gold and silver. So many detector sights are all about the silver and gold . Love you cause you are real and make my day ! Can’t water for more tips !😂
Dawn that was brilliant and so helpful I’m a newbie , in my ignorance I didn’t know about the NCMD I shall join. Thank you , you are a brilliant teacher.🎉
Well done! As they say, “ I’d be happy to watch her read the phone book.” HA HA, what’s a phone book? Now I say this as a friend, that round light reflecting on your glasses is a bit distracting. An old trick is they take the glass out of the frames. The portrait is exactly how you look to all of us. I really like your tips show. Cheers from Washington State
Yes I think we all were, Im still happy with most things, some people move on and diss things that are not 500 years old, but I love everything, well except milk bottle lids and mootubes haha
It’s such a joy to watch your videos. Your kindness and authenticity are palpable in every segment and you bring so much fun and joy to others. I know a big, fat, fabulous gold coin find is in your future. No one is more deserving of finding some truly significant and I cannot wait to watch you dig it from the ground!! Can’t wait to see where you’ll take us next time! ❤
The ring on that website looked like yours!! Grewt video.. Rechargeable AA batteries are available (USB chargeable) which might help people out. I use a USB chargeable 9V battery for my pinpointer, saved loads in cost of new batteries every time.
I hope you make this an annual event! Its very informative, and can help beginners learn the hobby! Til next time take care, stay safe and dig,dig,dig...
If you have to buy batteries it's smart to buy rechargeable batteries. They will save you a lot of money. Just using the Garrett Carrot will go through sometimes 2 9v batteries a day if you detect all day and they aren't cheap. EBL rechargeable batteries are pretty good, they occasionally fail and have to be tossed also but for the money well worth it. 16 AA EBL batteries on Amazon are 22 American dollars. However, you can get them on Ebay all day long too. Good to see you Dawn. :)
I found a massive ring thing .6kg and 12cm wide. It’s one of my favourite finds. I cleaned it up with electrolysis. It has the ‘wood grain’ showing it’s hand forged so probs a door knocker at least 200-300yr old. It sits on the heated plate of my coffee machine now to keep it dry. It’s so tactile just to pick up whilst waiting for my morning coffee.
Dawn Thank you for all your hard work which is so valuable for newbies like me. Just something I have never heard you comment on which you might like to mention sometime. I use an AT Max with a Viper coil like you. I virtually never get a false positive, a good signal but an empty hole. On a permission the other day I got three. Solid 40 but no find. Fill the hole, check it like you should, solid 40, dig it again, empty again! Give up, I never do that. It happened 3 times during the day. On the last one I solved it. Caught in between blades of grass, so not in the soil was ......... a shot gun pellet! Just might help others? Kind regards Colin Wall
Hi, Yes when something is in the grass like that you can usually tell by the sound the max makes that its not in the ground or very close to the top, its a very loud double beep, If I hear that I get my pintpointer out and run it over the top of the ground
@@DiggerDawn Dawn Thank you for that, I will listen out for a double beep. I think the problem on the first two holes was that when I dug the sod, they pellet fell out to the side, so the pinpointer said the sod was empty, and also said the hole was empty. When I went over it with the Max, having filled in the hole, it was 40 right next to the hole, so I thought I was just off with my pinpointing. When I dug a new sod alongside, the same thing must have happened. Only on the 3rd hole did the pellet get stuck in the grass. Anyway, as you always say, no gold or silver (1st moo-tube and 1st non-plastic shotgun cartridge) but lots of fun.
Getting permission - haha! Round here in the Warrington area, the second word is usually "off"! - - Maxi using batteries why not try rechargeables? They last a year or more, (providing you remember to charge them up before use!)
Firstly,I appreciate the advice. Yes some of it is UK-centric,but I can go from there,in the USA,as a guide. The artwork,a delight! Please don’t use the Anne of Cleaves story,I think he captured your image perfectly! Also, fun fact, which you might already know: All the gold ever found,is just enough to fill 2 Olympic size swimming pools. It’s true! Isn’t that mind-squashing??? Now the irony is that I cannot own gold in my home,I just can’t. I am fascinated by it,but it cannot be in my home. It’s bad luck for me,long story…
Dawn thank you for that very informative video, a lot of useful information there. I bet your students really miss you, I can tell you were a brilliant teacher but it's nice to see that you have found something else that makes you happy. Take care, I look forward to your next video. X
@@DiggerDawn I am in the UK, I live in Birmingham, and there is a Regton store nearby. Unfortunately they don't stock the detector I'm after, I'm going to have to get that elsewhere, but I'll probably get most of my other gear from there. Thanks for the reminder Dawn, that will save me a few pounds.
Hi dawn. Thanks for Fridays tips and hints , found it very informative as a newby. Iv a question for you please. Metal detecting on beaches ? Who do I go to for permission? I see some of the beaches belong to the crown estate but do I need to ask anyone else? Hope you can help kind regards Keith ledger. By the way how's diggy doing now after eating you chocolate?
Hi there young lady I've got a question all the rules and regulations and the paperwork you have to get in England is it the same in USI don't know I'd like to know give me some information you're pretty good at this so I respect what you have to say and the information that you give me will be great to know thanks👍🙏🙋♂️💐❤
Hi Roger , I cant really comment on USA regulations as I don't know them, I doubt they are a stringent as the British ones, but there will be some, I will ask when im in Texas :-)
Our dawn! I'm lookin at getting a detector but I see a lot of them are really pricey, do I need to get a proper expensive one or can I get one for say 150? I'll be looking for old coins and jewellery with a fairly decent depth range
I get readings of 88-90 all over my area and loud pitched beeps, only to dig to find nothing. I think the apex jumps around a lot, as another guy across the pond said the same thing. I did your settings, the thing is dead silence while going around then it goes haywire and flips many numbers. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, I'm a newbie at this. I did find a big arrowhead in the dirt. I'm not giving up I have a lot of land here to cover as I live out in the middle of no where. Is that NCMD in Amerika. I want to find the treasure that these bandits buried of gold, then the sheriff came and arrested them at a arch rock back in the 1800's.
Okay, two bones to pick with you over your tutorial. Stand still while I'm talking to you. You never mentioned those old-fashioned things called books. You can indeed buy (or used to be able) a pocketbook on hallmarks. (Guild Hall). You did not mention what the HA stood for the .Maker's name and can be looked up. (Stand still) You DO NOT shut the gates you leave them how you found them. You are a great one to talk about trespass. I remember you doing a paddock beside your permission. The poor farmer was taken aback by the holes in his paddock., Looking forward to your next misinformation me olde love.
Hiya, are you losing your mind you old buggar, Ive never been in a horse padock when I shouldnt have been? Youre getting mixed up, dont worry it happens to most people when they reach 100 years old hahahah
@@DiggerDawn Let me remind you olde dear. When you first started out on your own. You got permission and after you finished your days exertions you realised you was in the wrong farm. Check back dear about the second or third solo video. I know who is losing it. Talk about selective memory.
