JAKE!!! Here's something I came up with for PLACING STENCILS EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT THEM by using "registration marks". 1: Take the original printout or drawing and cut it out closely around the edges. Place it on the client's body in the exact spot you want it (taping it if you need to). 2: Draw little lines in key areas for registration marks coming from the placed design onto the client's skin. Where you put them doesn't matter much. Just keep in mind that if it's an area that can move, they'll have to be in the same position for you to line it up later. 3: Take your original (with the lines on it) and lay your stencil on top of it. You'll be able to see those lines you drew on it from step 1. Re-draw them on the stencil paper. 4: Line up the lines on the stencil paper to the lines on the skin and you're done. PERFECT stencil placement every time!!

I've never heard an artist take into account how certain parts of the tattoo would look on the muscle. he mentioned the keys would look good wrapping around that muscle and how he didn't want a straight light at the top by the joint. that's sick we need more artists to think about these things.

Here it goes a tip that I learned : 1St pass of hand sanitizer. Wipe it off. 2nd of rubbing alcohol. Wipe. 3rd of rubbing alcohol. Wipe. Apply HALF amount Stencil stuff of what you applied on the skin. Let it go into the skin massaging and by fingers feel how starts drying but stills sticky. Apply the stencil. Bang! You have stencil atomic bomb resistant. Just give it a try ;) About the second stencil, what I would do is scissors cut and separate the important parts (kinda of that house, lettering..) in two different stencils, and place them wherever I think they fit better. After that freehand these curves, they're 2 min. Freehand easy enough for a nice tattooer for what I see on the vid. Stencil curves will not ever fit like freehand on a 3D superfice (like the human body) 'cause they don't adapt to the body. Just that, excuse my short english. I like a lot your channel, interviews, etc ;)

hey bro, are you shure alcohol is not irritating the skin? like pure alcohol?
@joshuadarnell5344
@joshuadarnell5344 6 лет назад
70% isopropyl alcohol, not 200 proof alcohol... I spray on skin to soak completely, then apply half the amount of stencil stuff, let it dry and soak into the skin, then I do another half amount, covering completely, massaging the solution deep into the pores. Let it sit until it’s tacky, less than a min if you didn’t use too much, then bam, stencil stays for days with no bleeding.

I use green soap, microwaved speedstick and add alcohol untill it forms a consistency for application. Bit of trial to get it right but afterwards it's the best I've ever used. It holds down and also removes a stencil easily.

How to place a stencil, get a extremely big stencil and place it on a small arm so that the image touches itself at the back side and the only way to appreciate the tattoo is to twist the arm so you can kinda see it all. Got it.

It was a stick of deoderant applyed with a toung depressor, to protect from cross contamination. A stick of the clearish green brand of deoderant right on the skin IS nasty, They used to sell the tiny (1/2 oz. ?) speed sticks but I haven't seen them in years, I haven't looked for them. Those were nice cause you could afford to toss them after each tattoo. Or once the stencil is on you can hand it to the folks with strong body odor and ask them to use it. I prefer to smell the green soap. Do they sell deoderant sticks made out of green soap?....hahaha

When tattooist use deodorant they use paper towel for each pass. There not touching the stick on diffrent people. So there isnt any cross contamination.

Any tips at all for applying large scale stencils ? For example a sleeve of armour. I've heard it's good to free hand sleeves but with detailed stuff like armour how would this work ?
@FiresideTattooNetwork
@FiresideTattooNetwork 7 лет назад
I tend to freehand large pieces like that even if they are rigid like armor. Otherwise, the best method in my mind is to use light colored sharpies to give a loose guide of where to lay the stencils and do your best to get them symmetrical. There will most likely be some drawing on the skin required either way

@@FiresideTattooNetwork what i do with stencil stuff so that i don’t have to keep that dark purple for 3 hours is to do a “fast” bloodline not to invasive and clean it with alcohol so i can keep working with my own line, works wonders for thin lines where the line is thinner than the stencil

The cross contamination idea is not true, I myself have had all my tattoos done using deodorants and all the ones I've made I used a deodorant (unless the person getting tattooed has some kind of disease or an infection where the tattoo will sit then it's cross contamination). Good video though
@theunlivingroom8261
@theunlivingroom8261 5 лет назад
“Unless the person getting tattooed has some sort of disease.” That right there is EXACTLY why using deodorant on every client IS cross contamination. As an artist dealing with skin and blood borne pathogens you have to assume that everyone that comes in has something communicable. Just because your experience has been fortunate enough that you haven’t caught anything, doesn’t make cross contamination a myth. But it is a good video.
