Hi Megan..I is a short 5' they lower my 883 Sporty mostly in the back and a pinch in the front. I always use big bottom boot only. It does help me. Backing into a spot, sometimesI get a little nervous. Keep going Megan and THANK YOU for the tips. Happy Trail to you all. 💨💥👌🙂

Great tips and help video Meg. I am 5ft 10in and 225lbs and I recently found myself pinned between my bike and a riding mower and I had to call someone to come get it off me. I could have saved myself that embarrassment if I had just left the stand down, but I didn't know, and that's why these tips and helpful hints videos are important to new riders.

Also for ladies or anyone who has difficulty picking the bike up from the kick stand turn the wheel (bars) to the high side ( the side away from the kick stand) .. the bike will be easier to pick up

Excellent tips Meg. I'm a short male, and even though I'm a bodybuilder, moving a larger bike can be a challenge. If you can't reach the ground properly, no amount of strength will help you move it backwards. I have to admit, my 2009 Softail was already lowered when I purchased it, and it is a treat to ride.

Very cool video about helping to set up a bike for someone who may be shorter in stature. I'm 6'5" tall, so it may not apply to me, but it's still great content. My Gold Wing has a reverse gear in it for backing out of a spot if need be, but that is excellent advice to pull in and park so you can drive out of it. Always park using an uphill so the bike won't tip over(had a domino theory screwup/accident many years ago, very embarrassing to say the least)and sets itself in place with the kickstand. I leave my bikes in gear with sidestand down, but make darn sure you take it out of gear to start it, or otherwise it gets embarrassing once again when your bike tips over!! Thank you & Cameraman so much for taking the time to do these videos, and, yes, I agree on winter, it's a bad season for me, too, just from lack of sunlight. Take care, ride safe & keep the shiny side up!

Hi Meg! Nice, useful content! I am reluctant to taxi my bikes on the opposite side of the kickstand because the kickstands on my metric bikes utilize a spring assist to help disengage them. Any slight nudge knocks the kickstand out of full engagement and setting the bike on a disengaged kickstand will be a catastrophe. I am constantly checking the kickstand prior to setting my bike on it. Keep up the nice work!

Hi Megs watching your video was very interesting, I'm only 5"3 and I have decided to put air shocks on my 2021 harley davidson low rider s, I'm didn't realize that a lot of people who don't recommend doing the shocks think that your going to ride with it in the down position all the time. I only plan on using it in slow traffic or stops and " most important" if I'm trying to back my bike up to park it. I'm 66 years old and I have rode many miles, and there is nothing like being able to be flat footed on the ground. Also I have found where they make reduced reach forward controls Im going to get those also. When I get it all finished I'll take a video send it to you, and your more then welcome to share it with your followers. Love your channel and tell cameraman HI

Beautiful day there for riding 🏍️☀️. The wireless mic sounds great even with your visor up. Well done getting that sorted 👍. Yes not good lowering your bike as you reduce lean angle & tends to scrap. Better to have a lower seat like you have. Yes Cameraman we need to eat our weeties 👍. Yep I also generally reverse park as so much easier on those slopes to get out. Ps I would look at getting a custom safer kickstand made at a CNC metal shop.

🛑🛑 Good Job Meg👍 I’m impressed with your skill set. 💯👍 I’m impressed by the way you handle your bike, and the handle the weight of it. I understand what you were saying about “parking spots”. One little change in “ground elevation” can make a huge difference. Topography changes when parking my Ultra Limited effect me as well. 💯

Working out always does you good. Yes you are strong enough to handle the bike for your height and weight. I saw that every time you ride. You do great Megan. Jerry Paladino said you are a fearless skilled rider. I always believe you depend on your physical condition and staying healthy keeps you going and riding safe n healthy. After having 3 children in life you do better than some women who can’t take care of them selves after just 1 child. You know where your priorities are at on taking great care of your self and staying fit n healthy. You know how to do it. Stay Healthy and Ride Safe all of you.

When ever I find a place to park, it is automatic to find an easy way out, I will back in when the crown of the road works that way, or a straight through, taxi out of my garage requires a bit of effort because it is backing up a slight incline, I am 5’4” and 140 lbs, pushing a street glide, so this is my workout!

Hi Meg, My wife is 5 feet tall and is signed up for an HD riding class in June. So excited for her. We are thinking about a street bob for her and unfortunately, we may have to lower the bike an inch to make it happen. I wish she had 2-4 more inches in height, but she doesn't. Did you have any issues with adjusting the clutch or front brake levers? I want her as comfortable as possible. Getting a lower profile seat should help too. Thanks for making this video. I searched "best Harley for short woman" and your video was there for me. Thanks again

@deormanrobey892
@deormanrobey892 2 года назад
I don't like forward controls, and I'm a hair over 6 ft. With mids you can lift yourself off the seat without hanging on the handlebar when encountering unavoidable holes or debris in the roadway, and the wind at highway speeds isn't trying to lift your feet. Currently my bike has floorboards, but in the past I have ridden with mid controls and crash bar mounted pegs to stretch my legs on long highway rides.
@megsmotorcyclejourney

I think for taller folks- it’s more preference but I can see just preferring the seating position.

And even though I know you sometimes feel like choking Cameraman for some of his wise-ass comments, thanks to him, too! You say you're in good shape. No argument there! A question for you. Did Jerry say anything to you about how to pick up your bike? Or, have you tried to practice the technique? It'll be good to know, especially if Cameraman's not there. Stay safe out there!

all nice info. i did the lowering of my tour when had to be rebuilt back in 13 and since then have not scraped the floor boards which in theory should be scrapping all the time. my wife salved the problem of not having enough inner leg length by trading st glide in on a triglide. i had seen a company in IA called fat baggers inc, or FBI who have a seat lowering of almost 3 inches (think most for the tour family) without suspension mods, and it improves the look of bike dramatically, been wanting to get for mine but just haven't had the extra 2k for it. seeing you in this vid, how often are ya hit on by either men or women? can see it a problem for ya?

Two things, and I hope you don't get mad. I noticed when you have your helmet on and you're riding your bike, you don't talk with too much energy in your voice. Maybe it's because you're concentrating on riding your bike, not sure. And also make sure you're not standing in the shadows when Cameraman is filming you. Always watch where you'll be standing so everyone can see you. I love you both and I love your channel, I'm just trying to let you know so you could maybe improve your channel.
