I think your channel is great. Now, this will date me as being ancient, but you weren't even born the first time I did Weight Watchers! I've been on again off again on Weight Watchers since 1970 when I was a (much) younger woman. Back then, the diet was super strict. There weren''t any points, they told you exactly what you were allowed to eat and how much. If you wanted cookies, you made the Weight Watchers version of a cookie: you used some of your allotted powdered milk and grated an apple and mixed it up with some cinnamon , then baked it. Um, not so yum! So Weight Watchers has changed so many times over the years. With each version of it, I've lost weight, then eventually gained it back by getting lazy. Now I'm about to start it again. Maybe the 50th time is the charm LOL! :)
I’ve lost almost 50 pounds since the beginning of May. This is my 1st time on WW. I appreciate your honesty and encouragement. I really liked the way you put that it is a lifestyle rather than a diet to “endure”. I always correct my coworkers when they say I’m on a diet. I feel that Weight Watchers is one of the best options for long term sustainability. Thanks for the great tips!
I loss 60 lbs in 2011 on the points plus program. Problem with Ww is they change things all the time. If something works why do they keep changing the programs? Plus no meetings in our area. They need to realize meetings needs to come back!
I believe points plus ( older points ) was a very good WW Plan. I’ve just joined on the new plan , I can’t seem to get onto it. For the next 9 months I’ll see how it goes, so far not doing much with it .
I joined WW just a few days ago and I am so overwhelmed. I am so happy that I found this video. It has helped me tremendously. I’m giving myself grace! I know it will take a few weeks for me to get it all together, but that’s OK. You have amazing strategies and tips. Thank you for this video.
I recently started WW and stumbled across your channel. I enjoy your content and really feel you are someone I can relate to. We seem to share the same taste in food and your ideas work for me. I am 51 and have always struggled with my weight. These past few years have been EXTRA in so many ways with changes in hormones, facing empty nest, and a slew of other stressors. Thank you for sharing your journey with us and motivating us for success.
Thank you for this video! I’ve been on WW but not really doing the program! Starting again Tuesday and this video has given me some great tips to use to begin again
I really enjoyed your video. You have shared information about losing weight that is so true. It was good for me to hear again. In my journey of losing weight with weight watchers, this is my favorite mantra, “Determination trumps motivation.”
Hi Amber, I have PCOS too, so have really struggled. Had a massive heart attack learning I’d had 2 previous heart attacks w no knowledge of them. Then 4 months later had kidney cancer.., so had lost about 45 lbs but I’m gaining again. My sister is doing weight watchers so I’m going to give it a try. I loved your video because all of us have been through the ups & downs of weight loss & gain, exercise issues, etc.., I’m so happy to have found those videos because you are SO REAL & SO CORRECT. I truly can’t let my weight get out of control or it will kill me. Literally they cannot do bypass. It would be a heart transplant if I’d really need anything more done w my heart. So.., all being said glad to be a part of your community & see how I do at my own forgiving pace. God bless you!
Wow Paula! I hope it works out for you. It’s scary when it becomes life and death. If you haven’t already, you can get you doctor to do a fasted insulin test to see if you are insulin resistant. A lot of PCOS people are. If you are they will offer metformin. That works well for some people but it gave me 💩. There are 2 more natural alternatives to help, berberbine and inositol. You’ll see me take ovasitol on my what I eat in a day for this reason. Best of luck.
Hi Amber! I'm Paula. I just subscribed to your channel. I signed up for WW 5 days ago. I appreciate your tips as a newbie! I saw pictures of me at Christmas and didn't like them. I have tried other diets, Jenny Craig and South Beach were where I lost the most weight. But I'm looking for a lifestyle forever. I'm 65. I'm enjoying tracking so far!
after having two kids, struggled with weight. Aspect Health helped integrate health into family life. stumbled upon this Weight Watchers video. tips resonate, especially the balanced approach to weight loss. anyone else finding sustainable methods for a healthier lifestyle?
Yes - I've been back on Weight Watchers for over 2 years now, Life-timer again - 3 times! I started in my late 20's after my two boys were born and wanted to be fit by 30 and I did it, losing 60 pounds. But then kept gaining some back, but always caught myself, never gaining all of it back, maybe 15-20 then started watching again, but all this up and down drove me crazy. FINALLY, paid the money again in my 50's with the app on my phone and Bingo. Lifechanging and all at my fingertips. The app seems to have changed again fall 2023 but WW tends to do this, always changing but I love how they keep us on our toes. I tend to eat a lot of the Zero point type foods mingled in throughout my day with every meal, even snacks giving me room for other foods that have points, even things I love like ranch dressing or barbeque sauce. None of this fat free or lite business. I tend to eat whole foods in general and low sugary cereals like Cheerios or kix as a snack at night with a couple tablespoons of mini chocolate chips mingled in for sweetness. Sometimes I have airpopped popcorn with spray olive oil and popcorn seasoning and it's delicious and practically zero point snack for a huge bowl. Keep researching to get the most out of your portions to make your mind think your eating more, like adding veggies to any meal to make your plate fuller looking. Bonus: You're getting healthier foods in your body, extra fiber etc. And drink a couple glasses of water with each meal. You can do it!
Thank you for doing this video! It was exactly what I needed to hear. I’ve done WW about 6 times, so I already knew quite a bit about it (or so I thought). But your tips really sank in. I wrote notes about it and will continue to revisit when I’m struggling. My favorite thing about you is that you’re REAL! You don’t sugar-coat things. It’s reality!! Thank you and good luck in your journey!
I enjoyed your video, I started back to WW in January of 2023. I lost the 11 lb i needed to lose to get to my lifetime membership. But since November I’ve put 7 lbs back on so I’m starting over again in 2024. But you motivated me to start strong. Happy New Years 🎉thank you
Congrats on lifetime! I have a feeling I’m going to have to be in WW a very long time to make sure I maintain. The last thing I want to to gain it all back.
Hi Amber! Showing love from NewYorkCity so happy I came across your channel this is my new journey inspiration for someone has failed plenty times on a healthy journey. This video is giving me inspiration my new beginning thank you❤
This is my first time trying WW, and when I signed up the other day the points and change was really overwhelming!! Your advice and the first comment from the WW community that you shared have made me realize that this is doable, and not as scary as it seemed ☺️ THANK YOU!
Just started two weeks ago and gained. Looking for motivations and not being discouraged. I will say that a huge success is seeing how much I was putting in my mouth. I do love the app.
I love Weight Watchers in the program absolutely works. I lost 25 lb and then with being shut in during the pandemic I gained 15 back. I'm back on the program now and I've lost three of it. But everything you said in this video is absolutely true.
I joined a couple weeks ago with the hope that it would help me with portion control. I’ve lost two pounds so far! I don’t eat terribly and I’m not really changing what I eat, so it’s really helping me see how much to eat, and if I want to have dessert or special dinner then I’m going to have to eat healthier things the first part of the day. Or saving my “points” for a special occasion later that week.
I love what you said about restriction. I wish I knew that 10 years ago when I first lost weight on WW. I gained a bunch back and I am back at WW. Part of my problem was being so rigid with the rules and developing a bad relationship with food. Wow I had to update this comment now that I am at the end of the video! Your advice is not same old same old. I love what you said about not having people hold you accountable. I HATE it when people make unsolicited comments about what I eat. Great video!
So practical! Thank you! My daughter and I started today and started to worry with the amount of 0 points food we ate.. but this is saying to actually EAT! And to use the weeklies we are given. Wow! I'm very excited to see how this works for us!
Thanks for this. This will be the “millionth” time I’m trying to lose weight and change my lifestyle. I will take this advise as it sounds logical. I will continue to follow you. Please!!! I hope I can stick to it this time!!!!
So glad I found you! Just starting my WW journey after several years away. I went on the keto diet about 5 years ago and lost 30 lbs in 3 months, but it just hasn’t been sustainable. I’ve been in the keto mindset ever since and I am trying to break free and thought I would give WW another try. This video is just what I needed! Thank you! Looking forward to watching previous videos and watching out for new ones.
I’ve been off weight watchers (but still paid for the app the whole time, lol) for a couple of years, gained about 15-20 pounds. I’m working on getting a mindset on getting back into the program and start tracking. I’m going to subscribe because your tips are helpful with getting myself there. Starting with baby steps with a short time goal is a perfect tip for me right now. First goal is to get on a scale and track for one week.
I really needed the tip on eating my weeklies. I always feel like it’s going to slow down my progress if I eat them. Thank you for the advice and encouragement!❤
I think if you are first starting then eating weeklies is a great way to make sure you aren’t cutting calories too low too quickly. If you’ve lost some weight already and eating weeklies if hindering your progress and you aren’t hungry without them, the. Don’t force it.
Ok. I restated on Dec 29th. It is the 2nd and I'm down 3.8 lbs. It's all water, but I'll take it. The key so far is meal planning and moving. I love that I can eat everything, within reason. Chart what you eat!! WW is the best option for long term success!
I have lost 9 lbs in 6 weeks. I’m ok with whatever I loose or not as I realize it’s a lifestyle change. I moved from California to Illinois and gained 20 lbs over the cold winter season. Then got Endometrial cancer (which they say is caused partially from obesity. I went from 26 BMI to 30. So 20 more lbs to go and I’ll be on this for life as I love the WW app! What an eye opener to see how many points with most fast food. But there are low points at them all too!
I’m happy it’s working for you. I hope the cancer is gone. I feel like the older I get the less weight loss has to do with my looks and everything to do with my health
Watched you for the first time. Thank you for all the wonderful tips !! I had a hysterectomy ( I also had PCOS with endometriosis) I've gone through menopause & gained 50 lbs. I just got done doing my all & am now getting off the nothing swing !!! You talked sense into me & I needed that Big Time !! Thank you !!! Do you do meal prep... I pretty much eat the same foods ( I don't really mind & it's less I have to think about)
I appreciate your videos and your tips. I've been so torn about whether to continue with WW and had planned to cancel my subscription. I have subscribed to your channel as I feel your videos are just what I need. I love the practical and realistic aspects that you share. Thank you!!!
Don’t give up on yourself, even if you give up on WW. There are many different tools out there so if WW isn’t the right fit then find what is. I’ll be here either way to help when I can. I know I can’t stop this time or I’ll gain back everything I worked so hard to loose.
Lost 100 on WW before Covid. When meetings stopped, I managed to get to goal on my own, then gained back about 30. I need the meetings to keep me honest! Rejoined last week, and love the app! Did not have smart phone last time. Tracking this week. Looking forward to making Lifetime this time.
Thanks. I’m following you and I’m going to lose my 20 pounds this year! You are an inspiration and I already love all your recipes, but in particular, the PB and banana on toast, my favorite! Don’t let the turkeys get you down there’s some people that always have to whine!❤
Starting back. Thanks for your positive, realistic approach to WW. Subscribed🎉to your channel. I know measurements, clothing fit, and realizing my food choices/changes help me when my weight doesn’t change.
Keeping a shirt from my heaviest and wearing it has helped me the most. The adapt to what we see in the mirror and don’t realize the changes that are happening. Best of luck
I am starting my weight loss journey. I weigh 184 lbs. working towards getting down to 160 lbs. love 36:06 ❤ this community. Amber you are amazing wrote your tips down your a big help thanks.
*I really appreciate this video more than I can say.* Thank you for the time and work you put into helping your audience! I have 50 pounds to lose…it feels very overwhelming, but with you breaking all of this down, it helped me to approach this with more clarity and patience. Slow and steady, baby steps. Thank you !🙏
Thank you so much for sharing these tips. I just found your video while doing research to decide if I wanted to try WW. Thanks to you, I will be joining!
Oh my gosh, you spoke straight to me. Covered everything I've struggled with since starting 3 weeks ago. Wish I had found your video before I binged after not losing 2 weeks in.
I season and steam chicken or turkey strips mostly with lemon pepper , but any seasoning would work. It turns out moist and yummy! Very low points. Oh, they're also skinless and fat removed. They used to have individually wrapped 3 oz turkey breast at Schwan's with is now Yellow, but they discontinued them. So sad I loved them.
I found you on you tube by chance. This video was great. I started a week ago. I know it's a 3 month old video but it's perfect for me who just started. Thank you.
I’m glad you said not to be hard on ourselves the first day. I started today not thinking about the fact that I work in a school and it’s Valentine’s Day 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I’ve already used most of my weeklies and I haven’t even had dinner yet.
I want to thank you for this video. I did a search for "new ww plan to 2024" and you appeared. I have been off and on ww for years and follow several channels. Your tips are expressed in a way that I can relate to, I appreciate that. I have not rejoined yet, if and when that happens is to be determined, but I will still continue to check into you channel . Thanks you for sharing your journey.
Thank you for this video. I have had a life long battle with losing weight. sometimes I have accomplished losing the weight just to gain it back. all sorts of ways. I really like what you said about the mindset and that we don't have to be strict and work those treats in.
Great info! I am just starting and hearing your tips is encouraging. I did Weight Watchers a very long time ago and I need direction on my journey. I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos.
If you go to a jewelry store they have these nice adaptors they will put on for you that you can adjust as you lose weight. What a great problem to have, though! I remember being shocked when my summer sandals were all of a sudden too big and too long. Who knew?
I have not lost any lbs for two weeks and never touch my weeklies! That really resonated. I was afraid to dip into them for fear of gaining. I exercise three times a week. I am 64.
I just found your channel while searching for WW 2024. Thank you so much for the tips. I have done WW in the past. I will be checking out the 3 month trail to see about how it will work for me. have also subscribed to your channel.
Ty for your video! I’m seriously considering trying weight watchers as I’ve got like 15 pounds to lose and the program seems very doable and I’ve tried my fitness pal and want to do something different. I don’t know much about WW so doing my research before I join :) you’re very real and motivating!
Definitely use that friend link so you can try it for a few months without being out of pocket. I’ve tried pretty much everything, including previous versions of Ww and this is my favorite. You’re held accountable with your food without having to log every single thing you eat. I hate that about counting calories. I don’t log my zero point foods so I get a mini mental break. Double reason to eat them. lol
I like WW because I never go hungry. Following it helps with my psychological issues around food. My only impediment is myself because I don't prep well, so I like prep tips. I get so exhausted during the week that I reach for high point foods if I don't have other foods prepped, or I am not crazy about the food I prepped.
I hear you. Sometime I do great meal prepping and other times I’m terrible. I’ve found so fast ready to throw together foods that work… like a good old turkey sandwhich. lol.
❤❤Love ur channel!!! Ur soo down to earth & real!! I look for meal prep vids more than others & sooooooo glad I watched this one...I truely needed it!! I am not currently followin a plan per say..but need to do somethin...I live in Northern Lower Mich & cannot complain bout lack of snow this year for walkin...just medical reasons...I have Ehlers Danlos & also suffer from PCOS..among other things...I had gastric bypas...RNY...almost 24 years ago...March.. & lost 170lbs. Been able to keep all but 30 off over the yrs & want to take it back off & keep it off..ur advice is truely on point & true to examples!! srry so long...just keep up the good work...you look great!!
Love this! Walking is AMAZING! Keeping 140lbs off sounds like a victory to me but I know those 30 lbs can more pressure on your joints that can make things difficult. You sounds like one tough cookie.
I just signed up too on Tuesday ! But I had signed up a few months ago, lost 15lbs within a month and a half. And then cancelled it- just because I thought I could track macros in my head…nope- gained it all back already and now I realize this is has to be a lifestyle!
Oh man it seems like you know me with the all or nothing mentality...this is my God knows how many times of joining WW but I know it's something that's been successful for me several times in the past...rejoined today...subscribed to you tonight!
❤Thank you for your authenticity Amber! I have liked and subscribed to you and look forward to beginning the WW journey as well as sharing the discount. I'm not sure how to sign up using the discount. Maybe I'll have to speak with a rep, which I'll do! Thanks again for your honesty! I hope we'll talk sometime in the future and I can learn how to get through the obstacles! Take care!
If you have insulin resistance than intermittent fasting works 18/6 . fast for 18 hours and eating within the 6 hours . Every day and exercise everyday and hitting your target heart rate during exercising .
This is day one for me. How does WW feel about sugar free foods and drinks? Is Stevia or Allulose ok? How important are natural vs. artificial ingredients?
Oh my goodness. I am SO glad I found your channel!!! I've done WW in the past several times, and have lost 3st on it. But the programme has changed since the last time I did it, and this time I'm really struggling!! Last time I did WW sweet potato was free, as was wholewheat pasta, wholewheat noodles, wholegrain rice, potatoes, bacon to name but a few. But now they're points!!! 😫 I struggle the most with breakfast and evening snacks. I can happily eat well at lunch and dinner, but first thing in the morning I just want toast with butter, or cereal with milk. But those are both way too many points for a first meal!!! I'm definitely going to check out your yoghurt fluff as I also don't like plain yogurt. Do you have any good yoghurt dip recipes for veg?
You were probably on the personal points? It takes time to adjust for sure. I do toast with 45 calorie bread. 1 point per slice. You can spray with I can’t believe it’s not butter and use Good Good jam. 1 tbsp is 0 points but you could use 2 tbsp for 1 point. I like the strawberry and raspberry flavors the best. So 2 pieces of toast with 2 tbsp of jam would be 3 points. Add some fruit and protein like hard boiled eggs to the side and you have a filling breakfast. For veggie dip I like to mix a 16oz container of cottage cheese with 1/4 c light mayo and 1/4 c Greek yogurt and a seasoning packet. (Ranch or Knorr Vegetable) blend it up. 6 tbsp is 1 point. I have not found a low point cereal that taste good. I like the 100 cal oatmeal and I add a pear or apple to it for a different option.
I approach my weight loss/maintenance as a long walk in a healthy direction, not a sprint or fad. Helps a lot to not focus on losing weight, but rather getting healthy.
Great advice - also i reaized that adding exercise can build muscle and muscle weighs more than fat so even if the scale doesn't change, it may be you lost fat but gained muscle.
