Tracking your cycle to conceive, or avoid pregnancy, or to get information about your health or just to live more in sync with your cycle - this video is filled with tips for taking your temperature (your basal body temperature). This video will be followed by another video where I explain the temperature pattern you want to see when tracking, but before I get there I thought it would be useful to share tips to ensure that the temperatures you are interpreting are as accurate possible. In this video I provide over 10 practical tips. I answer frequently asked questions about temping and common concerns/doubts people have shared with me.
What do I know about tracking?
Aside from having read multiple books on the topic - I have tracked my cycle (and used the fertility awareness method) for between 3-4 years now. For the last 2 years I have kept detailed daily records of my physical symptoms, my mental and emotional state and all my health efforts. I speak to other women who track their cycles about their charts on a daily basis (I wasn't kidding when I said I am a fertility nerd).

I can see the numbers on my thermometer out of the corner of my eye or in a reflection (I guess a mirror would work too) and can see how it stops for a few seconds before it starts beeping, which is also nice because then it doesn't climb anymore.

That is great that you can see it and ensure the accuracy.

Can you share the thermometers that you are trying out? Or at least how you found them? I can't really figure out which one to get

Both of mine are "Beurer" (that is the brand). I find they work well and are accurate, but just keep them in your mouth for longer than the beep to ensure accuracy. When starting out and to save money I think a single decimal point one is sufficient. Hope this information is helpful :)

Are there other methods you can suggest to keep warm that I can still temp? I have an old wall heater in my house that doesn’t reach my bedroom so I use a heated blanket to literally not freeze 😭

Aaah I hear you - that's a challenge. I've recently started using an adult sleep sac and that works really well for me to stay warm.
