These are all of my tips for ballet auditions on video and Zoom. Things like your studio setup, leotard color, artistry, and how you film can all help you succeed. Plus, I give you some video editing secrets to help you present yourself at your best!
Video and Zoom auditions are definitely "in" this year! I know they can be scary, but I've got you covered! I give you all of the secrets today. Here are my tips in a nutshell.

1. Your setup is important! Maybe invest in good lighting and flooring or rent studio space (especially if you have to do a variation.)
2. LOOKING CLEAN is important - hair, tights, and leotard. I would wear a solid color leotard ALWAYS. For video auditions, black leotard and pink tights are never wrong. For Zoom - solid bright color leotard. Don't chop yourself up with too many colors and don't blend into the background.
3. For videos - follow instructions to the letter. Film exactly what they ask for. And give yourself enough time to film - 2 hours minimum! Pick variations that show off your strengths.
4. Be smart about filming - maximize your time by being prepared. Make a list of what you need to film ahead of time. You can use the same videos for multiple auditions - you don't need to film a different class for every one. Just cut and splice accordingly!
5. Don't hold back - remember, audition-ers can fast forward or click off. So make sure you capture their attention right away! Use your artistry and be present. Don't hold back!
6. For Zoom - be prepared for strange things to happen. Make sure distractions like pets and phones are out of the way. Also be sure everyone in your household is aware and supportive. Also don't hold back - use your artistry again!
7. Be prepared this year that spots in both companies and schools will be VERY limited. So don't take it personally. We are all in the middle of a pandemic. So just do your best and know it's enough! A school or company not taking you might have NOTHNG to do with you!
BONUS TIPS - play with the exposure and dissolve transitions on your videos. Also maybe include a clip on the end of you saying your name, age, and thank you!
