Good tips! You actually don't need to unlock the quick travel points anymore. You did when the gave first launched, but they eventually made it so all quick travel and taxis are automatically unlocked once you are near them.
Biggest tip, create a legacy, and read the options available to you. Some legacy unlocks are character specific, others are accout wide. Fast Travel can be upgraded, and other fast travel options can be unlocked, fleet, personal ship, capital world, and some for specific planets/locations. All fast travel options can be added to your ability bar.
This actualy awesome Ive played Sith Juggernaut where force choke is pretty much normal and then trough legacy got it for my Sith witcher I guess? Dunno the name basicaly just shooting force Lightning also now beeing able to force choke and its actualy quite powerfull
For any new players I recommend picking a crafting crew skill and the gathering skills that go with it. If you are a subscriber it is a great way to make credits as you play the game. I am still pretty new and it has saved me lots of money being able to use the credits I make selling items on the global trade.
Started playing about a month ago and just subscribed recently honestly it’s worth it and the game is great I’m gonna stay subscribed and try to complete every origin story like you said I wanna max out a character for each level 55 atm on my Jedi knight and I have a boosted Jedi consular
Also you can’t just do the story missions and be on level the entire time you have to do side quest at least around the level 20 area if I remember correctly if your not subscribed because they put a sort of debuf the makes you not earn as much xp so when you hit there either subscribe to the game or do a bunch of side quest
Camea setting....Thank you. I returned from a long time away from the game and notices that my camera was crazy fast and would spin me around so bad sometimes I did not know which way I was heading. The setting was a zero so I figured that was just the way it was now. Thank you for showing that. I tried to find videos on this and could not really find anything.
as a new player for 3months (and still f2p), u can travel between planets just by opening the map and click which planet/station you wanna go. dats including the fleet. dont be like me. i tought the only way to travel by using our ship. (i discovered this after playing 3 months). the other way to use quick travel is by cllicking the solo activities (dats for heroics and dailies in different planet). use legacy bank to store your credits if u almost cap 1million. materials and reputations are account wide. u can wait until 7.0 launch and then sub in order to get the new expac for free. im not risking to sub early since 7.0 was delayed in december.
When you are doing the basic class story you might want to go to your ship though, as there are certain companion conversations that only take place on the ship. You gain influence with companions by conversation (there is a purchasable unlock to get more exp for conversations).
I just got back into it again this last month since I moved into my new house and got a brand new computer. (My old laptop was garbage and too slow so thats why I stopped). Love this game so much though
With Microsoft owning both Activision and as a result of that Blizzard do not be too surprised if there is a blizzard made rival to SWTOR on the cards.
Yeah but don't over-do side quests, when I was starting I did EVERY SINGLE QUEST on the first 4 planets, as you can imagine, I'm now just starting Corellia with level 60 after taking lots of measurements in side quests so I wouldn't over level so much
@@smokeybear1597 I generally just do the planetary quests as well as story quests but I've done all the others enough to generally know which ones to do as well
just gonna say this now. Every toon guide ever made over the last year to 10 years is about to be made useless by 7.0 and the forced pick between 3 abilitys every 4 to 9 levels that before 7.0 you could have had them all system
so right dude. i was a preordered player like 15 years ago when this was released, and now im just coming back (because WoW dropped the ball) and its hard to find a guide that actually makes sense. especially the "new players" guides and such that ive been watching. they are mostly years old and walk you through stuff and when i try to do it in game, im just totally screwed. ive been babied by wowhead and icyveins that were always on top of things with patches and expansions and learning about gear and such. ............ not complaining though, just adjusting.
Just started playing yesterday actually. Got a bit aggravated when I purchased the sub on steam and had to put a ticket in to ea because it didn't work x.x but having fun. Playing sith marauder!!
I'd recommend doing the side quests, mainly because they lead to certain hidden areas that have technologies that boost the stats of your character, however don't ALWAYS do them, as you'll burn out in the current area you're in and probably end up logging out due to the amount of time you spend travelling etc.
I have been an off and on player since right after launch. Great video and a few of these tips (resizing the hotkey bar and other windows) were news to me. Absolutely agree that playing through each class story once without skipping is the best way to enjoy it. As far as the side quests, I would recommend doing the planetary and side quests once on each planet with one character (no need to repeat them) just because, as you said, it does give you more background. Another great tip for new players who are maybe concerned about their Darkside/Lightside alignment is to go into the preferences and under User Interface and Conversation turn on "Show Conversation Alignment Gain". This lets you know whether that snarky remark your Jedi Knight is about to make is actually a dark side gain or if the decision to kill the prisoner on your Sith Warrior is actually something a light sider would do. Tons more but I am sure you will find them. Look forward to seeing more of your videos.
Thank you!! I'm playing through the Jedi Consular story quests and a new Vanguard toon and loving them. Great recommendation and tip!! I'm finding more tips and new things in this game everyday and loving the process. 💙
I actually just came back two weeks ago, and I had left right as Rise of the Hutt Cartel was about to release. The game is such a breath of fresh air, I love FFXIV but this game gives me the same enjoyment level with the story. And it's always "different"! Had forgotten how much fun playing Space Barbie could be!
Yes this was extremely helpful. I started knew...well at least until I can find my key code I got from launch to recover my character lol. So much is different and this helped a lot. Thank you.
I’m coming back too after about a similar break. There’s so much I’ve forgotten. I have a (then) max level trooper that I can’t recover. I can’t call EA because the recording says phone representatives are just not available.
My first day in SWTOR I saw someone trying to scam some noobs but another person in the chat saw and said “Don’t let them scam you the item is worth 3.2B maximum” and the newer players got a good deal in the end.
did he call her "SWTOR-STIKA" ? .......... not cool homie, shes not a racist, shes a nice lady. its "SWTOR-ISTA" ............ but i do agree, her guides and videos are a great help. yours are good too, just thought id give you shit for that one little slip up lol.
The cooldown on the Quick Travel can be knocked down to zero or practically zero. The higher your Legacy on the character you have on a server, the more you can lower the cooldown with either credits or with Cartel Coins. Also, at a certain level, you can unlock quick travel directly to your ship. On the galaxy map, there is an icon of your ship in the lower left hand corner. Once you hit the level needed (I think it's level 20 or 25) you can spend 50,000 credits and unlock it by clicking on the ship icon. Actually, if you want to level a toon for each class, you will get an achievement once you do. You become a Legendary player, with a flair for your character icon. Just finish the base game, which ends around level 50 (minimum) and on the planet Corellia (all classes). I started playing in September 2019, and within a 9 month period, I made Legendary. Each time you finish a class story, an icon on the left hand side of the screen that is on your main character loading screen will go from looking dull to lighting up. Welcome to SWTOR!!!
Those are awesome tips! I had no idea about the quick travel thing being knocked down so low and the legendary thing is sweet!!! I'm going to try and do that. Congrats on yours and thank you a ton!!
_SW:tOR_ & Berens MBTI List. *Bounty Hunter* and *Trooper:* xSxJ (at worst, uncaring, greedy, and ruthless; at best, law-abiding, honorable, and empathetic). *Sith Warrior* and *Jedi Knight:* xSxP (at worst, arrogant, sadistic, and holier-than-thou; at best, patriotic, loyal, and flexible). *Imperial Agent* and *Smuggler:* xNxP (at worst, gluttonous, exploiting, and trigger-happy; at best, compromising, temperate, and inventive). *Sith Inquisitor* and *Jedi Consular:* xNxJ (at worst, manipulative, unfettered, and insane; at best, diplomatic, thoughtful, and wise). For the Empire, the Light Side choices emphasize the Empire over the Sith. For the Republic, they emphasize the Jedi over the Republic. In MBTI terms, this translates to the Imperials valuing the group like soldiers (NF and ST) and the Republic classes (SF & NT). Coincidentally, or perhaps meaningfully, the Republic Tech and Sith stories are Aligning types (Fe-Ti) while the Imperial Tech and Jedi stories are Ordering types (Te-Fi). In order of recommended gameplay. Bounty Hunter: xSTJ. Republic Trooper: xSFJ. Sith Inquisitor: xNFJ. Smuggler: xNTP. Sith Warrior: xSTP. Jedi Knight: xSFP. Imperial Agent: xNFP. Jedi Consular: xNTJ.
One tip for everyone, when you start playing and you get the chance to make a legacy do it. Then when you level up your legacy in the global unlocks you can upgrade your fast travel. With it fully unlocked and if your a sub the CD is instant. Also there is another perk in there that allows you to mount up while moving.
IPre-ordered the game and played it for a year when it was first released. After watching the Mandalorian I decided to reopen my account and I was pretty upset to see I was forced to change five of my characters names, I would have been fine with most of them being changed but my main name I've used forever they forced me to change, so a founding player who pre-ordered the game came back and lost his name to someone who came long after him, I'm not happy about that but I guess it doesn't matter a lot because the game doesnt have any good PvP that would hold me to the game for very long and losing my main name that I'm known for in every MMO since Ultima online was a major deal breaker. I'll play a couple of stories, chalk up the $15 to a month's entertainment and go back to Warhammer RoR
Makes a ton of sense! That would frustrate me too for sure! It's a great game to return to for a bit and I've been enjoying it so far. Thanks for the comment!! Maybe the game in the future won't have those name issues and a more engaging pvp for ya =D
You can also lose your name if you move your character to a different server and someone already has that name. Even if you have technically played longer than they have.

KOTOR is my favorite game of all time, so I've given SWTOR a chance half a dozen times over the years, but MMOs are just the worst game genre. It's just an RPG, with useless filler to make it seem like there's more game.
To clarify; Most of SWTOR is definitely very nice, it's just that DK chat is famous for it's borderline toxicity and banter. But hey it's the capital of the Empire so it's to be expected.
The point "Don't skip the story" is very important imo. If you are not interested in story at all and you just skip through it swtor is not the game for you. It's that simple. If you want a game to skip the story go and play GW2 or New World or whatever but don't do it in swtor. The old republic is still the best story mmo out there.
I've been playing for three straight years non-stop and I gotta tell you, the new UI that came with the 7.0 is absolutely horrible. The new layouts actually give me a headache and it's the first time that I feel this will get people to leave the game. It's really turned me off. I used to look forward coming to this game but now....
THANK YOU! I played this game way back in the release and eventually I lost interest, MMOs weren't my thing, etc. I just returned after I got a very recent itch to get into the MMO world again and since SW is good again (thank you Mandalorian) I wanted to retry swtor and let me tell you, I KNEW there was a quick travel option before, it had something to do with those consoles, but I couldn't remember how it was used!
Good info here! We have similar background with MMOs. I just started making swtor content as well. I'd be super interested in collaborating on some videos about SWTOR!!
I'm getting back into the game after a very long hiatus. I wouldn't recommend skipping side quests. However, if you are an Altoholic like I am, you can skip all the side-quest dialogue by pressing the Space key. Seeing the dialogue once or twice is ok, but it gets old. if you play the quests over and over for Alts. If you do side-quests along with story, you should level to the point where you can solo heroics, which I do all the time for fun and profit. While there are a lot of story quests as you level, side quests are necessary because there are a lot more of those. In turn, it helps level you a little faster.
Quick question, is it possible to get legendary title without taking republic side at all? I really only enjoy the empire storyline but if i have to i have no choice.
nope. but you only have to play thru class stories. Not SOR or anything following that. It also helps to have chars on both sides if you do HK-51 quest.
