Cobia fishing off South East Queensland over winter is not that hard if you follow a few of these tips I use to catch large Cobia every year. Black kingfish are a fun fish to chase and they are very good eating. You don't need a big boat or travel miles to find Cobia.

Thanks Mate, As always excellent info. For the Sunny Coast Fishos, Sunshine reef is a good spot to find bait also.

Ive been on the hunt recently. Last week I got smoked big time. Later that day the new sounder died, so back to the shop it went. I popped out today for a nudge with no sounder, awaiting replacement. Now that was a tough day even using land marks for rough bearings, now i appreciate tech that bit more. Got a few table fish instead. Next week game on. Thanks for the tips. 🙌🙌

I hope you get your sounder back soon mate to help find these bait schools and chase these Cobia that are around ATM. Good luck on your next trip.

Hi Bruce I am using 15 and 24 kg outfits for Cobia. My first outfit is a Shimano Torium 20 on a Daiwa 5'6 Monster mesh rod filled with 15 kg braid. My second outfit is a Shimano Speedmaster 10 on a 5'6 Terez rod filled with a thin 24 kg braid. Good Luck mate.

Hey Shannon, love your videos mate, very generous of you to share your info. When using eel, do you use fillets or cutlets? How big is your bait normally?
@Aussie-Fishing
@Aussie-Fishing Год назад
I use cutlets around 6 inches with snelled 8/0 hooks. Good luck mate

Thanks for the tips Shannon. Do you sometimes find the bait and set the anchor then after a couple of minutes they are gone. I find it happens quite often so I spend so much time finding baits and set up the anchor again and again......any tips for this?

Hi Eden I like to go up current and anchor away from the bait and let the current take my baits back towards the bait school. That method seems to work well for me.
