Hola Rosa! You are the only resource out there for what I am looking for. Thank you so much for the work you do for all of us. After watching your video I may choose the medical interpreter training program that is language specific. However you are right. I have to look within myself first and foremost. Hi Rosa ! Good content!.. thanks for sharing.. Im trying to become an interpreter and one of the feedbacks I've received is lack of English proficiency and every time I take the test with languages companies I get too nervous at the moment of the test.. so I decided to go ahead and develop my English proficiency skills first so I can deal with interpretation easily. So far, I found interpretation very challenging but is because of lack of grammar and sintaxis domain wich is something that Im hardly working at this moment. any comment from you will be highly appreciated... And last I will not give up with my dream... Ty

Great video! I looking at a 40h course that is significantly cheaper than others and it has 6.5 h.of medical terminology. Hi Rosa! Thank you so much for all of the amazing videos. I really enjoy watching them. I am interested in becoming a medical interpreter, however I am not sure if my level of Spanish is good enough. I am at a high intermediate level per my tutors on iTalki (language learning platform). Is there a way to measure if your knowledge of the language would be acceptable? Thank you in advance for your response!
@Interprepedia
@Interprepedia 2 года назад
Hi Rebecca! There sure is! My recommendation would be to take a Spanish proficiency test, that way, based on your score you can have a quantitative way to measure your level. Check out NBCMI's and CCHI's websites where they have posted a list of tests and the minimum scores that are considered acceptable to work in the field. Good luck!

Hola Rosa, mucho gusto! Has tomado alguno gratis? MUCHISIMAS GRACIAS! y perdón por tantas preguntas! ❤️

Hi! Great question! It depends. If you don't have a high school or college diploma from a country where English is the official language, then yes, you may need to take an English proficiency test like the ones you mentioned. If you certify through NBCMI it is mandatory. If you certify with CCHI, they may waive this if you can prove you've spent time studying or working in an English-speaking country. Good luck!

Hi! First of all, thank you for the video. I have a question if that's okay. I am a translation and interpreting student and currently looking for places to do my internship. I am also very interested in medical interpreting but sadly I could not find any internship on medical interpreting. Do you know a company or internship programme seeking medical interpreting? Thank you for your answer!
@Interprepedia
@Interprepedia Год назад
Hi! I love your channel! I just subscribed! Thanks for sharing your question. I don't know of any specific company offering an internship in medical interpreting but my suggestion would be to contact local hospitals or clinics where you live and offer your services as a volunteer interpreter. Try to cover different areas and specialties and keep good track of your hours so that once you complete the number of hours that your internship requires, you can request a letter from that institution confirming that you've done so. Nowadays there are lots of opportunities online too. Check out volunteer.org and see if there are any open volunteer opportunities that would be a good fit for you. I know the options I'm proposing are not an official internship but it's what I can offer since I'm not aware of any programs that offer this.

Do you recommend doing multiple trainings? Or do you think that one or even two will cover everything, and beyond that it's redundant?
@Interprepedia
@Interprepedia 2 года назад
Hi, Richard! That's a good question 🤔 I think that most approved training programs will cover all the basics to start, but I find it's almost impossible to find a course that will cover everything so that's why we always have to take additional courses or attend workshops for continuing education. Literally almost every day I find new terms or medical situations that are unknown to me, so I think we constantly have to do self-study, reading a lot of medical publications, and researching on those unfamiliar topics in addition to taking classes.

Hola! Excelente pregunta. Mucha suerte!
