Hey Mr. Dennison, I purchased a car a few days ago and was looking to do a vinyl wrap on it with just a plain matte black. Problem is that the car has clear coming off in several places etc, and I was wondering if it is possible to wrap it like that without it needing a new paint job and clear etc. so long as the clear is wet-sanded off the rest of the way to give a smooth flush feel. I have seen some comments in response to my question but none were certain either so I figured I should ask a pro who has perhaps ran into the same issue. Thank you Mr. Dennison. -Mitchell
great video. you mentioned dings and scrapes under there. how would you prep a more severe case? i have to wrap a 2000, which is far from flat with dings and chips. much of the clear coat has also been deglossed. thanks.
No not a good idea to remove bumpers to wrap them. They're just plastic and they'll be flopping around and causing problems during install. When they're on the car they're anchored down with way more stability.
