Hey guys! In this weeks video I am just sharing some useful tips and things I have learnt from my year of living in Australia. I moved from the UK to Australia in January 2020 so have officially been living down under for a whole year and am still loving life here. These tips are a couple of things I would have done differently if I had know! Thanks for watching ❤️

Surprising how many European people say Australia can be cold. They see the place as a great big tropical island. They miss the obvious. Australia is the size of Europe. The top half (Tropic of Capricorn) is in the tropical zone and is warm to very warm. The bottom half is subtemperate and can get cold in winter particularly the further south you go. There are mountains and snow fields in NSW and Victoria. Tasmania is in the Southern Ocean. Next stop Antarctica. So lots of different temperature possibilities. Just check the geography before you come.

I have been to Australia before during the winter months and it does certainly tend to get cold in the winter particularly in NSW and Victoria. I am interested in researching more on whether I should move down under. You have given good food for thought on things I should do before moving. Thanks see you soon.

This video was very helpful and informative, recently I have had the idea of moving to Australia, I could not say why, I have never had the opportunity to go and visit, so I plan to go on holiday there and or perhaps try the working holiday before I do properly think about moving out there. So thank you for the video!

Great information in this video 👍 me and my girlfriend are moving to Sydney in august from Ireland, we were thinking about the farm work straight away as u said, but the only thing is she has braces and we’re looking to move to a orthodontist over there and she would have to go every few weeks, so if we went farming it’s probably away out and be hard to make that work, She’s a qualified hairdresser and I’m a qualified plumber would u say we could take our chances with getting sponsored, or any advice on what to do? Thanks 😊

@@Fantabbydozy2608 I sometimes feel like that with english people though (being welsh 🤣 ) But jokes aside, i really appreciate your response and thank you for your honesty of your experience. I have always looked at things through rose tinded glasses and have been called "overly optimistic" many times (which i sometimes agree with) so having a few years to plan and gather info and as many hints, tips and warnings are soo important. Ive heard that the higher wages over there makes up for the more expensive items?

@@Fantabbydozy2608 oh wow, yes road trips are what we're planning on doing, more for the natural beauty spots along the way. Starting at the Gold coast and eventualy ending up in Adelaide (or vice versa) plan is to take advantage of the free camping with the odd hotel for the first few months. The Marree hotel in the outback, its 7.5 hours from adelaide (in the middle of nowhere 🤣) but pays $900 dollers a week, free acomodation with evening meal provided.... figured we'd save quite a lot at this place. I have been told that Sydney is crazy expensive to live (but probably has more of the comforts we are used to in the U.K) You have mentioned that your husband is on what would be £68k Just wonder what it is he does for a living over there? :-)

@@Fantabbydozy2608 yes, thats another thing thst keeps cropping up is people feel isolated there. So im gonna struggle with this for sure. Also, whats your WiFi like? 🤣

As soon as the boarders are open is still such a good idea to move out here I personally think - the job market is still really good over here lots of opportunities if you did need to look for work! I personally would recommend either Melbourne or Sydney - I visited Adelaide and it’s beautiful but not as busy with things to do etc compared to the other two :)

Great video!! As someone who has recently discovered this type of visa, would it be hard to find a job without having a degree?? I’m 19 (fresh out of a levels) and want to go on this work-holiday visa and quite possibly relocate to Australia long term, so would it be hard to find a job to sponsor someone so young without experience? Do you have any advice for someone in my situation?

I lived there for 2.5 years and recently moved home to Ireland. I don’t have a degree and the last job I had I was making 91k a year in Sydney. Sponsorship is difficult to come by without being qualified in a specific field, but if you find work that is in demand you can get lucky. Off the top of my head the positions you can get sponsored in without a degree are Recruitment Consultant, Sales, Construction, Disability support work, chefs. Btw you can pretty much get a general labourer job in Australia with no experience

Canberra, Melbourne, Tasmania and south NSW have cold winters, and older houses aren’t very well designed for the cold. If you’re thinking of moving perhaps get the weather app for the city you’re interested in and check out the daily temperatures in winter and summer so you can see the extremes.

We are not other countries. We have a shortage of farm workers and why not use backpackers? It's sensible. You also get an insight into another world you probably don't normally get exposed to. If you end up working say on a mango or banana farm, you'll have better tan than splayed put on Bondi ( which, despite our thousands of kilometres of incredible coastline seems to be where all tourists herd thinking they are in Ibiza on a summer break)

When a company sponsors you, it means a few things 1. Your visa changes to a sponsorship visa 2. You have to work for the company that sponsored you 3. Depending on the sponsorship you have to stay with the company for 2 or 4 years. It’s a great way to stay in Australia long term but it’s tricky to find sponsorship in certain industries :)
