I have a 5000 gallon storage tank. Is pea gravel good for a base or would it puncture it

Yes. Pea gravel will work. Make sure there are no large or sharp rocks.

can you provide a little more info on specs? is there anything under the pea gravel other than dirt? wood boards are bolted? redwood or treated ok?

The 3-4 inches of pea gravel would go right on top of the dirt. Any wood under that would rot away in time and not do any good. Frame for the pea gravel could be redwood, pressure treated wood, and some people use old rail road ties. Lag bolts would be good if you need to bolt corners together.

What type of structure would be sufficient to support a 1000 gallon tank 10' off the ground?

If building a structure off the ground for your tank it would be best to speak to an engineer for specs on this. We may do a video about this in the future.

For my 5000 gallon storage tank, how deep does the pea gravel need to be?

On a 5,000 gallon tank (as long as all the rocks on the dirt surface are raked away) a 4” inch thick pea gravel pad should work just fine.
