I remember when I was still thinking of a business name, I also had a notebook with a list of potential business names that I like. Then I would Google those names and cross out the ones that were already taken. Then crossed out some more when the domain and social media handles were also taken 😂 took me months before I was able to finally find a name that I really like and isn’t taken. Basically, just like dating. LOL

As for names, just to add another option: My own name is so common and hard to pronounce, that I needed to pick an artist name for myself when I started exhibiting my photography. It took me months and months. The last name means ‚black‘ in German, although spelled differently. It‘s also a common enough last name in the US so that pronunciation isn‘t a problem. In retrospect I was having trouble with that though, because I couldn‘t line up my social media handles, too common. I did find a good enough naming convention for those though, so it‘s not that difficult to find me. And nowadays a lot more people know me by my artist name than by my real name! By now I use it as a ‚personal brand‘, since all my art and also RU-vid just go under that, not only photography.

My shop has a composite name~ Its called Revelune. Its a combination of Reverrie and Lune which means moon in french. In combination, it means dream magically wild, since there is a word 'lunatic'. I considered it and as we all know, the moon is so magical.

My business name came by accident because it started as just a blog, and now I’m building it into a fully fledged brand. I went for ‘This Thing They Call Recovery’, and it’s all about increasing communication between people who suffer from chronic and mental illnesses and their loved ones. For when you can’t say ‘get well soon’. I’m actually really happy with the name and think it fits what I’m trying to do well. It just popped into my head randomly years ago ha, I was lucky I think. It’s maybe a bit long but people seem to remember it okay, I sometimes just refer to it as ‘This Thing’ which I think is cute because it sounds really casual and lighthearted. Great video as always! I’m currently only doing my business as a hobby business but I’ve been getting more commissions lately and I’m doing three Christmas craft fairs so I’m hoping that by next year it could start to take off more. My business name actually came to me really easily and I’m so thankful for that. I think I sat dow with my mum and sister, we discussed about 3 or 4 ideas, all variations of each other and decided on the name within half an hour. 2 years later I still love it!

The struggle was reaall. I remember what I was going to go for actually gave trouble because the term 'joker' got flagged by DC comics / WB a lot because of their character joker. So I decided there was no point in keeping that in my name, and honestly I'm happy I changed it to what it is now. It's sporadic, fun, easy to remember, and fits me better than anything I ever had before! :D

Taking both domains help in the case of her customers only using the co.uk , in other words it reaches a higher base of customers having the co.uk and .com Its best to be safe to get at least 2 domains. *helping in case someone is still wondering a year later* 😂

So pleased you made this video. I went through the same sort of process writing down all sorts and ended using 3 names together. The name my dad always called me - sweetpea - and the name my brother used to annoy me with - Polly - and because my business is craft related I used - crafts. So hence the name Sweetpeapollyscrafts. Not sure now if thats too long or I should have used cards instead of crafts as that is what my business is about. Your accent makes me feel like I am back home in Middlesbrough and I really love it when you visit the coffee shops in Marske, its not far from the hair salon I used to go to - Contemporary.
