I have tinnitus for a year now and the best way to fall asleep is using the 4-7-8 breathing exercise. Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, hold your breath for 7 seconds, and breathe out your mouth for 8 seconds. Keep on doing it until 💤. It really works!
TY for your advice. I also take magnesium 1 hour before bed time, and have regular sleep routines, like go to bed and wake up always at the same hour. TC
What a wonderful husband and partner you have Kris. Would love to see him in more episodes. My husband suffers from tinnitus - thank you for the topic.
Hi Kris and Brian - thank you for sharing. I was just doing some work with a tinnitus patient and I was inspired to share that we have made major strides with identifying and removing heavy metals. Metals will over stimulate our nervous system. Also, the reason some of the medications like NSAIDS and antibiotics aggravate tinnitus is that there is also often a parasite at the root. The toxins secreted by these infections can really aggravate the symptoms/nervous system. Maybe two areas to explore. Keep us posted and sending love.

My tinnitus started 2 weeks ago and i ate augmentine and penedine, i saw visual snow and ringing in ears and it has been constant ringing since and i had anxiety and panic attacks
I would like to get more information on heavy metals and parasites because I got tinnitus during heave metal detox and stopped because I didn’t want tinnitus to get worse? Do you have experience with this?
Thank you for this video. I am struggling with sudden onset of tinnitus 6 weeks ago. I went to the doctor but your video gives me more advice than the ENT doctor. Most days are really bad but trying my best to reduce the anxiety attacks. Thank you both.
The "I thought I was going to go insane" quote really hit home. Those first few months are desperate and ugly. Glad you're okay now. I'm in my first year so working on cbt and researching meditation and such. Thanks for the vid!
Bruce Orozco Changing diet and managing stress BIG TIME factors. Stay away from negative talk and post and seek out only those that beat it or overcome it. Caffeine, sugar alcohol are not good for tinnitus as well as to much salt. Watch videos by Julian Cowan Hill. He had tinnitus for 20 years and beat it and is now a therapist for tinnitus as well as a craniosacral therapist. You got this friend.
Bruce Orozco Three times in the past I had really panic/stress over something and tinnitus hit hard for about a week or so then backed off big time when I got on track. You think I’d learn after the first time
@@E2112-s2p just know it can’t hurt you buddy and it’s actually something our body’s do all the time. We creat noise. Meet with your doctor if you haven’t already to rule anything out and do NOT NOT NOT pay attention when or if they say no cure learn to live with it. I’m prof you can overcome it. I was told I had tinnitus because of noise exposure. I own my own landscaping company and I have hearing protection and I’m exposed to nose but I’ve overcome it. I’ve changed my diet and I’ve changed the words I use and my thought pattern. I’ll have times when I hear it slightly but it’s less and less. Reach out if you wanna talk more my friend. Let me know
Thank you so much for this Wellness episode! I have had tinnitus since about 1996 and this is the first, in depth, exploration of it for me. And I realized I never talked about it in any health care visits, not sure why not??? Very helpful , Brian did a fab job and love that he is from Pittsburgh. And I have to say that you, Kris, have this incredible ability to lead an interview that accomplishes so much and so well done...kudos! Many thanks.
I don’t have Tinnitus but I have chronic pain/illness and many of my thoughts are not positive and do not take me anywhere positive!! Thank you for this information and hope!
I have Ménière’s Disease, one of the symptoms is tinnitus. I have had constant tinnitus and now intrusive severe tinnitus for several years. I have found a white noise app (has to be cricket sounds now) helps to sleep. I also stay away from sodium in foods. Stress also spikes it for me. Thank you so much for explaining in depth to us. Education is so important to open up dialogue and help to not feel so alone.
I know this is an older video, but it was very interesting to me. I am 62 and have had constant tinnitus since I was around 18. My ex-husband would beat me and slam my head into floors and other things, so that is when it started. I've been fortunate that it's just always been background noise to me, but it is always there.
No wheat no sugar (high carb foods)no salt no dairy products or eggs and only drinking water lowers my tinnitus. While doing this for about a week then I’ll have a soft drink like Coke on 2 consecutive days then get back to high fibre low carb meals and after 3 days my tinnitus completely stops for 2-4 days. I have the Coke on Wednesday’s and Thursdays so I’ll get a silent Sunday and Monday each weekend. I’ve been doing this routine for 2 years at least 50 times and it always works.
I love that you take responsability and action about your conditon and don't just wait for somebody to help without doing something yourself. I think that that is VERY important, very empowering. I love that about you, Kris! You teach about taking responsability, learning, discovering. I agree with this and I'm triyng to live like that! Thank you guys! Love from Italy, Andrea
Sleep suggestions- I use a small Walkman with a single-ear ear bud. I buy them on ebay. I keep a station tuned to the Coast to Coast AM radio show. 2 different topics every night, some are very interesting. Something about the voices helps me fall back to sleep vs. binaural music. I also use the Calming Lavender and Chamomile Baby Magic lotion (Walmart). Oh, and may I suggest a weighted blanket or a 100% cotton quilt for sleep :)

Amen, Kris--there's ALWAYS HOPE!!! So nice for Brian to come on and share his story. Takes getting vulnerable to do that, so kuddos to him!! You guys are lovely, truly. I remember catchin' a glimpse of your I think "friend" then when he was the man behind the camera of some of that early footage of Crazy Sexy Cancer. That's where I was first "introduced" to you, and I've been a KC fan ever since!!! Love what you "give" to us. THANK YOU and God Bless ALWAYS!!
I am 69 years old and have lived with 50 budgies in my ears for 28 years, it can make a grown man cry at times I can assure you, either that, I could jump off a bridge! I have the odd day when the budgies/ringing halts and I turn into a nice person, my wife can notice the change in me right away! I worked in a tyre factory all those years which was constant noise and bladders bursting, health and safety was not introduced in the factory till the late eighties, so it was too late in one wearing ear defenders as the damage was done! I am finding it harder to coup with this at my old age, but I will try the tips given in this blog -This is my first visit in asking you Tube for remedies for tinnitus! Many thanks!
Claustrophobia, anxiety, and fear are such a good way of describing what happens when you first get tinnitus. There is no where to hide. It is terrifying to have the constant noise in your head nonstop.
Wow ! 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 🙏🏽 Thank you SO MUCH. I've been struggling with this for 2 1/2 years. The audiologist as well as my ENT each simply told me "Hang in there; good luck." 😞 SO DISCOURAGING. Various videos are now popping up as I've been discussing this with my cousin. I hear buzzing, thumping, and humming. A vibration constantly goes up through my foot, my bottom, and permeates my head. (It seemed to have come on after dental work from a major gum infection) Oh ! Kris, I just watched the end where you mention Brian is four months in. 😊 The topic of tinnitus lead me here to you for my first view; I will be watching more of you, for sure !! Thank Y💜U.

Thanks for posting. I suffered severe 'floaters' post an accident (paint in the eyes) and my brain learned over time to shut them out (mostly ... still see them sometimes) and likewise it seems the brain can adapt to this debilitating condition for which I now suffer.
Great video, hope you both are doing well. Not sure if the tinitus is still present, but if so, I can highly recommend the videos of Julian Cowan Hill. Very helpful :)
I was wondering if you have any updates on how Brian is doing with his tinnitus now that it has been a few years since the start of it? I hope he is doing well.
Having lived with Menieres disease for about 20 years I have come to learn that my tinnitus is actually a barometer. Normally I only hear it if I think about it . It's always there. However, if it gets louder or includes a popping sound I know I might be coming out of menieres remission. No biggie any more as I just roll with the vertigo! It's nowhere near as violent, frequent or debilitating as it was when I first developed it. On the positive side, if I need to sleep in a noisy environment, I just sleep on my good ear and let my tinnitus act as white noise🙃.
Hi! Loved watching you two and taking in such useful information. Did you mention something about alcohol consumption? Eating habits.... coffee? I'm just trying to cope with the tinnitus that has been getting stronger in my "head"🙉...and thinking about giving up on wine and coffee....I don't know!!😄. Cheers guys!
I am totally grateful for the quick response i got from Dr ogbebor herbal centre on RU-vid .he cured me of tinnitus with his herbal medicine and supplement.
COVID 19 gave me tinnitus never have I ever had this in one ear when ever my heart passes gets stronger not in exercise way but just like anxiety stress that when it get annoying me
I notice it mostly at night and I notice it the least when I'm outside and working in the garden. Maybe this may be because I am involved, distracted and enjoying my time there.

As far as dealing with Spikes.. I’m now 11 months in with Tinnitus. And I’m having 2 or 3 days of very quiet T in my left ear and sometimes I forget about it on those days. But after 2 or 3 days of quiet I get a Spike that is in both ears and in the middle of my head. The strange thing is my spikes are normally brought on after a nap or falling back to sleep. Any insight on the Spikes?
I’ve had it for decades from going to so many rock concerts in the 80’s. My ears would ring so bad after a concert. I have to sleep with a fan on. I do t like perfectly quiet rooms.
I've had a loud buzzing in my head. For 10 years. Mine came from lost of high pitch hearing in both ears. Duke University in Durham said mine is terminal and Chronic. I've tried some of these therapy and it hasn't helped. I'm the only one that has it in my head. The rest of You have a ringing in your ears.
Also a drummer hear . It started with a bad placement of a main speaker at a gig . A year in it has decreased and I can play drums again at a reduced volume. Totally understand you and I also have lived your journey to recovery .
I've had tinnitus for 2 years and found relief by doing PEMF Therapy on my cervical or neck and slightly above, just under the ear, now it's mostly gone, maybe twice a day the ringing might reach a 2.

I haven't read all the posts I don't know anyone discussed the relationship of tinnitus to Elders Danlos Syndrome and tinnitus involving essentially instability of the cervical spine. This results laxity in ligaments and or degeneration of the spine cervical spondylitis or both. There would be other symptoms as well i.e. numbess
This would also include with Ellerslie Danfoss Syndrome numbness, headaches, neck pain, dizziness, difficulty swallowing ,Gerds, or brain fog. Food sensitivities and allergies should be ruled out also. It is diagnosed with motion x-ray studies. Prolotherapy, cervical orthopedic braces, and sometimes surgery required. I hope this helps too. Thank you
Hi Kris & Brian! Thank you so much. I've had tinnitus for 20 years and it has been flaring up since last summer. I appreciate hearing your discussion--it was validating. Question: I wanted to watch the video about working with your spouse that you two did together a few weeks ago but the link I saved no longer works. Could you direct me to it? My husband and I are building a business together about relationships, life and health (he had had cancer, I had a chronic illness since I was a kid and we live a life of joy, silliness and wonder) and we'd love to watch it. Thanks! Sending lots of love and appreciation your way. Annie
Hey Brian! This is the TreeBanker half of our team. Thanks for bringing the dude energy to Kris' work. I have motorcycle and Rock & Roll induced tinnitus too. Annie and I really enjoyed watching the two of you presenting together and hope to see you in front of the camera in the future. Happy New Decade! -Dan
I just found this. I just listened prior to yours a podcast by Dr. Ben Thompson an audiologist in the US interviewing Dr. Michael Golenhofen in German, an ENT specialist who has worked with & treated tinnitus over 25 years. He is working on an initiative to help other doctors, ENTs, etc. know how to diagnose & treat. He has narrowed down from many disorders to 3 subtypes of tinnitus that are 80% cause What you are describing may be type one. And says to defocus. Sounds like that’s what your working to do. I have type two. It is sensory motor disorder, somatic-sensory. This is where there is a mono lateral sound, high pitch sound, hissing sound, pulseitile like heart beat, no lack of hearing loss, sudden onset. Cranialmandibular, TMJ, neck, jaw, disorder of the brain stem. He advises see ENT, have x-ray, audiogram, see dentist about TMJ, osteopath or Chiropractor. Magnesium, tryptophan, a serotonin precursor, muscle relaxant. Focus on cause of the tinnitus. Stress is caused by the tinnitus. The 1rst type you describe , the stress causes the tinnitus. The third kind is cochlear which involves hearing loss. He tells about treatment for each of these. Watch his podcast. It is very good. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Hi both, great video and thanks for sharing. May I know how often do yoj play some music's or sound to mask the ringing inside? is active listening to other sound helps to retrain the brain to habituate to tinnitus? Thanks
ps. would be more than happy to jump on a zoom/whatsapp call and quickly go over some of the tests that you could start with to collect as much information about cause as possible. just wanted to offer :)
Have had tinnitus for 30 years or more. If one goes to a good acupuncturist very early on, it can be gone in one visit. I did this. I actually have a very good Chinese acupuncturist. One visit--totally gone. But that night I slept until about midnight, awakened loving the silence, sat up, and it immediately came back in one ear. I continued my visits and was told after about 6 visits to take a break. My break was ten years and way too long. I have been told now that my nerves are too stubborn to move at this time, and that acupuncture cannot help. Nothing has helped. I don't want a masking of it. That's about all I find on RU-vid. I want it gone.
tinnitus comes from the chloela inside the inner ear, when you hear a really loud sound that is just you hearing a wave of compressed air, this pressure wave when hitting your ear causes the chloela to lay down and touch each other, tricking them into sending a signal to your brain saying you are hearing this sound, the pitch, tone and volume you experience is based solely on what parts on the inner ear took the damage, it is not coming from inside your brain, how can hearing a loud sound make your brain do anything? this is a false statement, if you want relief for your tinnitus, take organic mint oil on cottonballs and keep in your ear for a full day once a week, i did this method every other day for 2 weeks then went to once a week, the mint oil stimulates the chloela inside your inner ear, do not shove the cotton deep in your ear it should fit in and feel like a earbud from music device, i noticed a distinct change after the second day, also i should mention as mint does stimulate the chloela the first time maybe even second time doing this you may get tonal changes in the sound you hear, this is normal for while you have the mint oil in your ear, do not make assumptions until you wake up next day after trying this, and the next doctor that tells you to learn to ignore it or to just learn to deal with it, slap them for me
@@armandorosa1908 Mine have become so bad that i can feel my head shake. So it has to affect the brain some how. By the way i was born totally deaf in left ear and partial in the right ear. Been wearing hearing aid since i was 5 yrs old.
I don't think it's a false statement because my tinnitus gets worse when I sleep less or have a lot of stress and it backs down after I relax and meditate. Btw, you mean the cochlea, I don't know what chloela is
If I follow your logic, then I would conclude that there is no such thing as phantom limb syndrome. Your explanation of causation is valid for some people, but not everyone; there are many root causes of tinnitus.

Here ya go! Brian’s tinnitus update: "I continue to use cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to manage response to the noise when I do hear it. I’m at the point that I barely hear it during the day. It’s still loud at night when trying to sleep. So I do rely on distraction sounds. Human voice works best for me, so I listen to a lot of audiobooks - usually boring history does the trick!"
I have it unfortunately and it is very loud I hope I can cure it one day thank you for sharing this today every little bit helps. I am very healthy in my diet and natural products I use but still no relief as yet.
Hey Kris I just discovered your channel thought I need to watch this video because like your husband I have the condition too have had it for 16 months and I’m only 20 years of age so can only imagine how it’s been affecting me but the tips you’re husband gave seem very helpful so I’m gonna start trying to imply some of that I’m just wondering how does he keep his thoughts process to the here and now and not all over the place also really appreciate it 😊
Have the headband with speakers , they help VA Audiologist gave them , downloaded Niagara water sounds that seems to help , causes sleeping problems & even when I think I slept ok I can be fatigued the next day as if I worked all night ?
i have tinnitus that comes and goes on right ear for a few years. advil seems to set it off as does any processed food like bread white and brown crackers pastas desserts . seem to do better with whole foods and raw foods.
I'm sorry to hear about your tinnitus, I know it can be really hard. I asked Brian to share how he's doing and got this answer. I hope it helps: "I continue to use cognitive behavioral therapy techniques to manage response to the noise when I do hear it. I’m at the point that I barely hear it during the day. It’s still loud at night when trying to sleep. So I do rely on distraction sounds. Human voice works best for me, so I listen to a lot of audiobooks - usually boring history does the trick!"
You guys are amazing for sharing everything that happens to you. Kris you and your husband are adoreable. I have tinnitus and this is invaluable. I do have some informaiton that i will email you
Do you think it could be nerves in the head, I ask because I went from silence to ringing in ears all in a matter of 2days, after a metal bucket fell on the back of my head, the back of my head went numb and by the next day I had ringing in ears, ended up in emergency room twice in one day because of ringing. Still have it but doing better.
I have a question…… I fear my tinnitus is worse then others because it sounds so load in my head. Is it possible there are higher levels of tinnitus? Also if this is the case can it be treated the same.

But I no have vertigo for more than 7 months now but my tinnitus is more louder than before than i cant sleep at all.
