I'm a mtn biker who stumbled onto this youtube series and now I'm hooked on it. Might be time to look at buying a dirt bike. Thanks for igniting the spark and fanning the flame 👍
imagine all the former pro riders who are saying why didn't I start a you tube channel.. I've talked to a few at Pala that don't want to give away training tips for free , I hope it continues to grow for you.. Your great at communicating to the vet rider like me. Thanks!
I had reservations about giving away all my knowledge for free, but I quickly realized all it’s doing is making it easier to sell out all my classes!!! And it helps those who can’t afford to attend a class. Win win Thanks!
You're building friends. Friends WILL support you when the opportunity arises. I've not became a member but have bought a shirt. If membership was a little cheaper (for me) being an old guy that doesn't race.. id buy that or a lifetime membership was available i would probably do that also.
Great video, maybe you can make a corner guide video to where you record yourself hitting various types of corners and slow the video down and talk over what you’re doing step by step. Thanks again
@@ketillundsrensen6167 haha I agree, I went to a class once, current world class riders as instructors, guy in the class and his day job apparently are the second coming of Tomac bc it was clear he thought he was better than all of them
I'm an old vet rider and must admit it's fantastic that you help Mx lads evolve into more experience riders, it took me many many years to pick up riding to a standard others won't get hurt out on the track switching lines etc . Again many thanks keep up the great work kid
6th :P While you're making those adjustments using the front brake, are you still applying the same amount of throttle? so it's throttle + front brake?
Good question. I’m backing off the throttle as I get more aggressive on the front to initiate more lean angle. But backing off very easy, not just letting off the throttle completely
@@AjCatanzaro Thank you, AJ. So in a deep sand turn where backing off the throttle can cause the front to dive in the sand, does it makes sense to give a steady throttle during the turn (after the braking zone ends) while applying the front brake?
Bought a Dango mount. Pro tip AJ, sign up as Amazon Affiliate, and leave the link in description. That way you get paid a little at least. Solid product!
I've learned so much from watching your videos just got back into riding this yr and the progression I've made in a short amount of time is crazy. But I notice in my corners I don't drop my inside elbow its always my outside elbow I drop soon as notice usually half thru a corner I correct amd alot more stable
He would never tell someone not to use it, but he stopped using them because of the limit that it put at the back of the helmet in the attack position. There might be more to it, but I know I've heard him say that.
@@kings17court I still use mine even though it does feel like your head is fighting it, but I REALLY like the idea of protecting my neck so it’s one of those things that doesn’t bother me too much since it’s really good protection. I’d say for anyone who is not a pro rider racing for money that using a neck brace is a great idea.
@@spreaddeezhazelnutz7511 I'm with you. A lot of pros have made the decision to not wear them, but there are some elite pros that do. Villopoto ALWAYS did and still does. You don't get much better, or accomplished, than Villopoto. Musquin and Barcia are 2 others. I like for my son to use it, because I too think it's good protection that makes sense. But it's a personal decision.
I stand somewhere in the middle with them. Same with knee braces. I just had a good friend break his c5 c6 and was extremely lucky he didn’t get paralyzed. He didn’t have a neck brace on. In fact, his doctor said that based on how his head was impacted by the bike that ran him over, If he had a neck brace on he would’ve been internally decapitated and 100% paralyzed. The same obviously cannot be said for other types of impacts where the neck brace will save you. My view is the same on knee braces. If I had knee braces on this weekend when I crashed into a vertical embankment and crushed my leg in between the bike and the dirt, I am confident the carbon braces would’ve snapped my leg. But my softer foam guards saved me. In that situation. I personally feel like I’m a more safe rider when I have the freedom and flexibility on the bike, which is why I choose no brace. However, I wouldn’t push that view on someone else. I just urge people who wear a neck brace to make sure it fits properly so they can actually get into the correct stance on the bike
@@AjCatanzaro Thanks for sharing!! I agree that more people need to learn how to properly fit neck braces in order for the neck braces to be helpful instead of harmful :)
I swear I get more and more confidence and better lap times even just listening to the correct way to execute anything on the track i hopefully get to do some training with ya in the near future. I think its time that I show the world what this good ole Arkansas boy can do on a bike and this is prolly my gateway to it.
You should teach me to ride. I can be your Hellen Keller to your Anne Sullivan. If you can get me to go fast, you'll go down in history and people will sing songs about you.
When I was learning to ride my CR250 , I kept to to the right denting my expansion chamber and braking my front clutch lever. I can;t remeber how many times I had the pipe cut and welded and than finally replaced by a new one. I finally bought a chrome plated expansion chamber and decided if I was going to fall over it would be to the left . i finally stopped following over.
Wait so AJ, I love about 1 hour east of Tamahawk in Maryland. What’s the schedule, is it still open ride days on the weekends and Wednesdays? Or is it different. It’s been a couple years since I was there last. I remember one of the OG Supercross tracks you had there😂.
Everybody want's to come here and ride Georgia's dirt. But Georgia riders wanna ride everyone else's lmao. I would love to dump the clutch and blast through that corner
Great video keep them coming. Could you tell me which GoPro mount that guy used. I’ve been looking for something different than the top of the helmet mount.
Brought my first ever bike in October of 2020. Your videos have kept me positive & going hard each time I get on It thus giving me the knowledge I need. I appreciate you my dude! 🤙
Exactly what i needed. I can't wait to get my RM125 out and try using the front brakes to cornering and learn to ride a rod. That's something I always struggled with. Also i have to be better to lean the bike. It's not a big issue on a MC but i struggling with it on a MX. Good videos 👍 keep it up 🥳
AJ you have responded to one of my messages before your class December 5th and Milton Florida is the closest you have ever been to me and I am curious how much it is to come to your classes and if you have any openings
Talking to my dad, told me I need to use front break to ride corners. Never have before. Glad to see this video so I can learn how to do it. Thank you so much!
@AJ Big Congrats with your Black Rifle Coffee sponsorship! I'll check them out now! Please kee doing more of the rut turn videos with all the different examples as you have been doing! Thanks!
AJ. Where are you located? Considering a class. I’m seeing all these trees so I’m guessing the Midwest. I’m in Indiana and considering a few different people from guys like you.
If I use a bit of rear brake in a rut instead of front is there a difference or is that fine. I’ve use rear Naturally since I started riding I’m good in ruts but I don’t know if I would be even better with front I’m on 85. Look at my profile pic that me in a rut. Pls comment.
Yep, but if it’s tight enough to the bike it doesn’t matter if your inside foot is scraping on rut! Now there’s some situations where if the rut was created by a slow rider, the inner wall of the rut will be very steep, which maybe then you would need to get inside leg high and tight. But the more you lean, the more your footpeg should eat away at the inner wall of the rut
Good video, I need to take your class! I've been caution flagging at the Nationals and Amateur Races (High Point, Red Bud and Crawfordsville) and I noticed the pro's use that front brake a lot and the majority of amateurs don't use it at all. Your video helped me understand the need and the benefit of using it and now I want to get good at it. Thanks Aj!
I have a hard time believing that the majority of amateurs don't use their front brake. It seems like everyone would be blowing through the turn at the end of a straight.
@@jridenour31 It might be fun to for AJ to have the students do some exercise and then place himself so he can watch that right hand. All the pro's use one finger on the clutch and one on the brake (I'm ole's school (vet) and we use two or three fingers back in the day, no more) the pro's they modulate that clutch finger like it is a throttle. Cheers!
Great video dude! Been watching them for a while. Also just found out that it’s you that i see right next door to where i work in Portland all the time
already sold out of your AZ class! that’s awesome for you but i wish i was sooner, i missed out!!! hopefully you come back and do another in AZ because i’d love to attend one of your classes.
What exactly do you mean by inside elbow? I feel like just watching this though gave me a better idea about hitting ruts, I gotta try this out next time I ride a track..
Aj Catanzaro I know it’s been a couple days but I’d like to thank you for the tip! I went riding yesterday and rode the track at the svra I was at a little bit and even just thinking about my elbow and keeping it up I felt like my corner speed and hitting ruts were better! Thanks a ton!
