The best explanation I have ever seen for this. I am certain this helped many people today.

Been playing since 2009. No one has ever told me to do my nails like that. It makes since, so I went and tried it, and wow did my my tone change and it sounds like my volume came up to. Thanks.

Excellent advice. I especially liked the fine sandpaper advice, great tip, thanks!

There is another "secret" how to get a good tone - play a rest stroke wherever you can ( and even when practicing arpeggios, as said by Emilio Pujol in his guitar method).The rest stroke assures you always use flesh and nail, not nail only. I liked the exercise with the sandpaper at the first string, that's something new to me.

Best suggestion ever. Thanks Tavi. Do you recommend same technique (a/m/i) for tremolo?
@EliteGuitarist
@EliteGuitarist 3 года назад
Yes, I recommend a traditional classical tremolo. The p i m i seems a bit clinical to me and limited in tempo variations, but others have done with some level of success. I can't argue with success.

everyone should basically listen to anything that Tavi J. has to say about tone.

I always try to alternate fingers I and M, but what I notice you used your I finger nail as a pick for electric guitars. Is it normal technique? I’ve seen some Argentinian players use a thumb (P) for a leading solo on treble strings.

You have to do what works for you. Do all hitters in baseball have the same batting stance? Techniques is a means to an end.

@@iamJROD According to you we can start playing tremolo with one finger because it works for me. Nice going!

Quit and change profession. No one lives until they have played classical guitar with nails. :)

I'm a blue collar worker who has to do manual labor with his hands for a living. I break my nails constantly. My solution has been guitar player nails which are glue on nails for guitarists. They aren't as good as real nails and they're a hassle, but it's better than not having nails to play guitar.

Use the flesh of your fingertips....amazing and consistent tone with a little extra practise!

I think, good to learn to play like Al De Meola or Laurence Juber, I don't see they have long nail.
