Hi Luie. Great idea with the old slow cooker. I have an old deep fryer with no basket that can do the same thing. Thank you for the inspiration. Now I have to scavenge some wood and candles. Thank You, I received your stickers in the post yesterday. Now I have to work out where to display them. . mmmmmm
Went to the Recycling Center again today. Jackpot!! 👍😁 Scored enough wood for six to ten projects. Too bad you are not allowed to take it. Did it anyway but you have to be careful not to get caught. Rules.....
Great idea using a slow cooker to heat up the wax Luie ! I'll definitely be keeping my eyes open for a used one , I have plenty of old wax from my bee hives i can use Take care Bram
@@spindlesworkshop9744 If all goes well and my bees are doing well I'll see if I can send a jar next year ,Bloody wasps have caused havoc last couple of years :(
I did it with candle wax at first, but only on the ends. I had a lot of mold under the wax. I now use cheap white wood glue, which works pretty well for me. Thanks for the tip with the paper towel. That's nicer than writing on the wood.👍 Frank.
Nice one Luie, recently processed some sycamore that I was given by a neighbour and can't wait to turn it, found a little bit or spalting in one or two bits! Nice tip with the crock-pot! Thanks for the upload.👍😁
great idea . i know it works well with wax another way is to use wood glue . or sanding sealer . cheap house paint works . if i had more room i would do this more . dont have the room for it in the shop so i seal the open wood and back out doors on racks and covered with a tarp .
Nice to see your process. I can see pallet wood having nail but it sucks when you cant even count on nature not to have a nail! Seems like a lot of old trees have barb wire or something in them! 👍
Good video. The only thing that I might add is that it's a good idea to weigh each piece and record the weight on your label too. That'll be a way to determine when the piece of wood has quit losing weight.
That is true but i will only keep track when im thinking of using the piece...it may be a few years before i look at it again.. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Have you tried to check with a tree company and a local bee keeper. I have one of each that help me with wood and with beeswax. Thank you for sharing it is good advise.
Lots of good tips here Luie, thanks🙏 Crock pot is one as are the tissue notes. Me likee "On The Budget" too😁 Stay safe. -Mike😷 p.s. You looked really bummed out about that nail/spike😵 I felt you pain the whole time :(
