I’m going to try out for track next school year, but I’m really nervous. I’ve never participated in a sport before, but I’m really hoping I’ll succeed in this. Does anyone have any tips on preparing? Great video!

Kyia Croft you could start running on your own long distance (even if you don’t plan on running long distance) just to start building your stamina. And you could do full body workouts ( there are plenty on RU-vid) to start building up your muscles

Lmao this is literally me. I'm in freshman rn and am starting track in a week or something, and I have barely any knowledge of running but I enjoy it and am already decently fit, so I'm probably to push myself to the limit so I make a good impression to my peers, etc.

Any tips for a upcoming senior who’s thinking about joining next year? My anxiety has kinda prevented me from doing sports and since I have 1 more year of high school left I really want to just go for it even though I’m terrified

I have a more recent track video that goes a bit into nervousness and anxiety. You should watch that. And my biggest tip to you is to just go for it. You have nothing to lose if you do but you could lose out on a great opportunity if you don’t. And try to get out of your head. Realize that the fear that you’re feeling is coming more so from your own overthinking rather than the situation itself. You’ll do great 😊

So I’m terrible and this is my first year ever doing sports. I’m an overweight freshman 😂 but I wanna do track. Would should I do in track (like sprints, hurdles, etc) and how can I get better to be a better runner?

KiddoArmani your coach will most likely help you navigate what event is best for you because it varies from person to person. But to get better, push yourself outside your comfort zone during practices. Every time you push yourself you’ll reach a new comfort level and progress as a runner. Also make sure that you’re doing weight training and running drills. (If you don’t do them in practice you can find some online) And the mind is very powerful so believe in yourself and what you want to accomplish and then go for it

I did cross country and dang… it was so hard but I pushed through it and every meet was so hard until the last meet one I told me self DO NOT STOP make this race worth it! I ended up not stopping but it’s SO worth it I got like 40 places higher that way. I’m planning to try out for track and friend now which I have done before and loved and I’m really good at sprinting and everyone on my cc team tells me I’m so fast and I’ve been told that my whole life! I know track and field isn’t all about speed I’m also gonna do long jump and shot put! Wish me luck!

Tiana pretty much the same tips as the video. Go into it with a good attitude. Push yourself during workouts and work hard during practice. Over time you’ll have better stamina and more strength throughout your body. There’s also track workout videos if you wanna practice on your own before hand

stupid covid, i wanna try out in our track team last school year but school got canceled. schools haven't opened up yet in my country and we're planning to move to another country by next year. I'm in 7th grade and we're forced to do track lmao. I was forced into distance and I'm literally slow as heck. Almost 2 mins 11 seconds for a 400 😂. I will take this stuff into consideration. Edit : Forgot to mention I'm not in shape at ALL.

So I start practice tmr 😃 4:30 to 6:00pm and I’m nervous but I’m glad my friend joined with me. I always wanted to do track throughout high school but I was either to scared or I thought I was to fat or I was late signing up. AllAbout Angel breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. Make sure that you are running tall so that as much air can get into your body as possible. When you run, focus on taking calm steady breaths and eventually it will come naturally without you having to think about it

I love track. I hope I make the team. Mya helped me. For sure. I'm fast, thin, and play basketball, volleyball, and I do baseball pitching. During tryouts, we had to lift a eight pound ball and throw it. It was fun. I am pretty popular. But only because I play sports. Bye has helped me slot in life, and brought me from being a total low life, with no friends, to popular. p.s I love those hoops mya!

You prolly won’t see this but my first track meet is in 4 days and this is my first year but in one of the fastest my 400 m time is sub 1:20 I don’t know if thats good but I am the 3rd fastest freshman I was in cross country so I am used to running but I’m not good with rules bc like I said my first year anyways time for that question when I’m running a 400m at a meet when am I able to merge to other lanes if I am even a loud to

Wait people actually have tryouts??? Our coach just said, "if you can get through conditioning your on the team" 💀 we had atleast 6 people leave before practice started it was brutal.

Hi I’m training for track and field as a sprinter for next year but I’m super short so I have a lot of anxiety (it’s held me back from trying out for the track team in middle school) about going into try outs and looking like an idiot because I’m so short. Do you have any tips for this or for a short runner?

I want to join track because it’s something I admire and think I can push myself to do, but I have terrible stamina and endurance but i REALLLY want to do it, so do you think it would be a good idea to do it? Once you do track does the experience boost your endurance and stamina?

Lol I have asthma but it’s not severe. I would say to just know your own body and not to push yourself beyond what you can do. But as time goes on your lungs will get used to the running. Just don’t dive right into it and do some thing you know your body can’t handle. Work yourself up to it. And definitely let your coach know. You’ll be good

I know im late to this vid but when i wanted to try and in good shape covid hit!! I couldnt go back to school until this year and the opportunity is here so im going to take it! I always wanted to do it but was never educated on the sport😭😭here i am the day before my tryouts trying to get ready… i was always an athlete but i dont think my performance will be the best even though im not in that bad of shape.

Tea With Lena lol well technically everyone is on a diet because a diet is just the way that you eat. So if you eat a bunch of junk food, that’s a diet. If you eat healthy food, that’s a diet. So my diet wasn’t good because I ate a bunch of bad food. But you can be on a diet with nourishing food while still maintaining your weight. I’m small but when I ran track I was able to maintain my weight with a relatively healthy diet
