Good points man. Especially the one about wondering where viewers go after a while. I really like your way of seeing it as them being on the sidelines.
This was a very nice and reassuring video, thanks man. I had so many of these issues for months and realized I just cared way too much about people not watching. Now I stream even if there's 2 - 3 people and it doesn't bother me as much.
I'm never on RU-vid I swear, but when I come across your videos I tend to play one right after the other. They are so insightful and really meaningful. I love that you made a video like this and to be honest, I feel like I was the same way wondering where 'blank' was and so on. Even though my channel is doing what it's doing, I still love hearing the advice you have on streaming and OBS settings etc... I mean, tbh before I started my channel, I came across your videos on how to set a stream up before I went to Google. I know every time I have something to say it's paragraph that's either posted here, or in your chat. I really want you to know that not just me, but you have inspired A LOT of streamers to this day to keep going and better their channel every day and to make it the best they possibly can... I just want to thank you for continuing your dream and never giving up when I'm sure times got tough... :x
I'm glad i stumbled upon you (your vids). I also had to google everything, not because i'm afraid to ask others, but because I want to create these channels in my own pursuit and trials/errors. I feel like if you want something then you'll seek the knowledge to do it on your own.
Love your attitude Cody, you seem like a genuine person and hope you keep up the the good work. Thanks for the tips I'll apply to my livestreams and hope it helps.
thanks for this, I finally got my ps4 and can finally stream. and the tips about not worrying about views has really helped me a lot, sure I do care but knowing that it all comes with time is really nice.
Before I started streaming, and when I met TimTheTatman, I honestly told him I thanked him for putting up one of these vids. I would be driving to work and have it playing it my car like a book on tape before I started up my channel. The part that made me laugh was about yeah you are averaging 20 viewers ok where is X person? I am going thru that right now myself. Great stuff tho man and hope to see ya soon at another event!
As a new streamer I appreciate this video so much. I have been streaming for about 2 weeks, have 16 followers. The grind is real but really needed this video to help me change things to make my stream the best it can be.
I kinda feel bad I'm one of those people who just hasn't had the time to watch city lately. Still love the stream and the things you do though. Hope to see you continue on the road to greatness
I think my biggest problem with streaming is the numbers. I've been doing it for coming up on 3-4 months, and when I see not having many viewers, I get negative. But, thankfully I'm starting to be more positive. It's great knowing someone I look up to (you) had the same problem at times when they started. Thank you Coty, you have motivated me and inspired me to be better, god bless you pal.
GamerJ7 Do you leave your house in the morning? Why? You should fear muggings, shootings, robbery, or death. If you fear swatting then warn your local police department of the potential threat and make sure they understand what you do and the potential threats.
I have a question. My internet plan is "Internet 60" Shaw. It has 60 Mbps download and 400 GB/Monthly. Can I stream with this? Is this going to chew my bandwidth if I stream? All my stream settings are on low set for 2mps upload speed with low res, I was wondering how long I can stream and how much bandwidth will it use?
Find your upload speed and stream with half the amount of megabytes that it is. That way it's good quality and you can still use the rest for the game that you are playing.
I stream every day a week for about 5 hours and im talking to myself alot but i still cant wait to grow. :) i subbed bc i respect you as a streamer and a youtuber.
I'm new to streaming, I get an average of 2 Stayers (Stay for the whole thing) but on some days I just end up talking to myself, I don't let it bother me :) Thanks for the vid I just stumbled across you this video I hope I can find you on twitch too :) Thanks again
i did see the mic in the video but at some point in the video he said that he is using the inbuild mic from his webcam. that's why i asked whicch one he is using...
Great video man! It's hard to take advice from someone younger than me but you are absolutely right about everything you said. I have a small channel and I am not bothered by it. Yes I hope to get more people but it's all about just doing it because you love to. Keep up the great work man!
When I used to stream I used to have 10 to 15 viewers I had to stop streaming for a month and when I came back I can't even gain 1 viewer now and I have been streaming everyday for like 3 month and I am doing bad I really don't know what I am doing wrong !
How important is it, to have a webcam to show your face on stream? Will you get plenty of viewers and followers if you do not do show your face? I know you probably will get more if you do a facecam, but does it really matter? I assume it shouldn't, but some may argue it helps connect with the streamer. What are your thoughts on this?
Having your face on streams seems to increase both viewers and followers as people and I know I do like seeing a persons face, it makes them seem more friendly in my eyes as well as seeing their reactions to things :D
I'm new to streaming and I love interacting with viewers. I like the idea of using a facecam to really let people connect with me as more than a voice, but I'm afraid that (because I'm female and not ugly) people will react more to my looks than my content and will automatically assume I'm in it for the money. How do I avoid that and still use a facecam?
MissVyris Wear simple casual clothes, not too showy, speak normally and not like a j-pop girl, play with all you heart and don't bitch talk (ingame rage is still totally safe ;D). That's strict, but it would be the best way I think.Once you'll start to get more followers, you'll be able to relax as your regulars will know what you are and what you are not. Just try to remember women, celebrities or not, that look natural, friendly, not too plain, charismatic, while being decent and respectable.Ask yourself the question : "Can I show my stream to my family without being ashamed?" Anyway, if it goes too much against your personnality, just be who you are, bear with it and say it to the world. Don't risk to lie and contradict yourself in the futur. TLDR : don't try to buy viewers with physical charms, and make it impossible but don't overdo it. (it's also true for men but not seriously considered by the Internet because moobs are not that sexy)
Crow EH Thanks for the advice. My "physical charms" are never visible. I refuse to use my gender. (Though all the boobs or gtfo comments are really getting on my nerves). Does looking plain mean I should cover up my tattoos? Moobs are sexy as hell tho
MissVyris no don't hide your tatoos, that has nothing to do with the issue "girl showing too much on cam = money streaming". I mean plain clothes. And trolls are everywhere, whichever your gender is. Keep it cool and don't feed the troll.
Thank You for the vid man! Actually i satarted typing this at 11:10 where You said about staying positive and make your goals. Just an addition to that : Even if you fail with your plans/goals don't get to upset I mean having a perfect plan is always great but sometimes things just don't work out THe goal is to not be to struck down by it. SO yeah thats a 100% BUllseye on Staying Positive :) I mean bottom line it could be Worse that your plans fail right?? I mean You never know when your heart stops so anything is better than that :D I hope it didn't come off as a bad advice its supposed to be positive. Anyway Thanks for the video, was Helpful and inspirational in a way. Good luck with meeen!
Hey coty now I KNOW that I will go big tou are the motivation of me streaming thanks dude u are amazing I. Watch ur streams A ton btw it is HiddenStyle_
I’m not getting followers...even friends and family, lol. That said, I do it because I enjoy it, I’m disabled and want to do something semi-productive, and I’ve put an extension on my page that has a timer that counts down to my next stream. 3pm-7pm M-F. Weekends, off and on whenever, lol. I need to get one of the webcams/mics like you have. I ignore the 0, however, there’s an extension to tell you when someone is watching. I always act excited, humble, and thankful to them for taking the time to watch. Going to keep enjoying the games and I hope more people start viewing.
Okay first: Thank you, this was really informative and I learned a few things having already watched a few "Streamer Tips" style videos. Second: Damn you sound like Watsky. I mean it as a compliment and if you don't know him be sure to check him out and maybe have fun with it.
It's actually right I loved to watch your stream when you and Aydren was playing together, and now I like to watch people who are getting K.E.M strikes like soo superior from DooM :)
man, im in love with you videos, you really are a true inspiration for me! im growing quite fast on twitch considering im new, ahha :) im taking all these tips in ! great vids/streams man!!! I Also donated to you twice
I always change games I’ll go from like pubg to Fortnite to cod like I just really wanna play what I like I still get decent amount of viewers well for a new streamer I get 5 cap off at 7 average at least 2-3 all stream I stream extremely know my schedule is known I have new viewers and people chatting daily but I just can’t stay on one game it just irks me playing one game I’ll play each game a hour or two but ugh I can’t stay to one or stick to “small games or unpopular” cause I just don’t like them
I was starting to get big on twitch and i quit because someone told me they would swat me and posted my address in the fucking stream. The reason is i don't want cops at my house because I'm an MMJ patient and don't want that kind of attention, any advice?
Vesta Gaming Co. Why don't you warn your local police department of the threat and how it is not legit. Let them know that any outrageous calls will not be you and explain that you are a streamer.
I actually got banned for listening to my idiot friend not too long after I posted this, but I made a new one because for some reason my IP is unbanned. Before I couldnt even watch twitch from my wifi because of my IP being banned but that part just stopped like a week ago so I made a new one. its Vesta_Gaming_Co
Great tips fat thumbs up agree I play PUBG lol I see you play battlegrounds I'll subscribe to you yea new been playing and livestream a lot I have faith it grow never give up
You know what, i've watched like 3 of these videos and ALL of them say "I'm not a popular streamer." WTF if you even have 1,000 followers, idk but proberly thats better then the majority of people asking for help! Pisses me off!
"I'm not a big streamer, I *only* have 27k followers on twitch"... I have 126 >.> still gratefull for this video, but 27k followers is being a big streamer :p 100k+ however is huge XD
You're saying like its simple just stick to 1 game and bam, but when someone like games like LOL, CS:GO etc. there are hundreds channels, it's really rare to find that one new channel with 10 or 20 followers and 1-2 viewers. How to promote yourself then Coty ? :)
If you wanna grow Fast, Then get a mic, Get a facecam on your stream, stream clash of clans cuz. You will Never get a viewer starting out with minecraft just a tip
