You know, one day I was picking up mail at the post office and I then proceeded to the clerk to buy stamps. I was fussing at him about all my junk mail and how much I hated getting so much. He said, "that junk mail is what keeps us in business." I have not fussed about it anymore. What would we do without our postal service! So I just shread, recycle, and share catalogs at our library. (Some people love looking through them) My tip for the day. 😉 I enjoyed this video.

My son is 28. I still have his nap mat from Kingergarten ! I kneel on it when I clean the bathtub, or any kind of kneeling work. It is never necessary to justify buying books! That's my opinion, anyway. Books are one of life's best pleasures. We also buy used, in good condition books. I love your Vlogs so much. You have been like a healing ointment during this pandemic. Thank you.

Hello Hillary, I did go over to watch your friends video and have subscribed. I know I will enjoy her channel also. Thank you. I would like to talk alittle about the Kurig coffee. The one thing I do not like about Kurig is that their coffee is not fair trade so those picking coffee beans are not being paid or treated fairly and the pods are not bio-degradable so not good with all those pods going into our land fills. I'm not absolutely sure if they have developed some pods now that are all of these things but they hadn't. I do feel as Christians and just humans, we need to think globablly about our impact on this earth and on others. I know Presidents Choice does make a pod coffee that is fair trade and bio-degrable and is not lots expensive (good to buy extra when on sale) and can buy in dark roast or medium roast. Or there is the option of using the re-usable pod for kurig in which you can add fair trade bagged coffee, grind and use. Anyway, just a thought. There is so much we can do and little steps toward caring for our environment and others in other countries, helps. Thanks for you videos

I was making your mozzarella and orange salad (it was delicious, thank you so much) last night and it brought me back to a salad I made for years and forgot about. Sliced oranges, sprinkled with salt and dressed with crushed garlic and olive oil, sprinkled with fresh basil.

I prefer a paper book but I also have been using Hoopla which is an app that connects to my local library. I can make my paper books stretch longer by interspersing some digital ones in between. I've been a diehard book reader for years and love an actual book...but in these times while the library has been closed I have been reading books on kindle unlimited that is included in my Amazon subscription. Sooooo convenient!!!

That baby copying your hand gestures in the background was the sweetest thing! Your littles are absolutely darling. My grands would love the Secret Squares game as they both love games and playing cards. The five year old is a card shark. haha We have a garbage bin/paper recycle bin next to the garage door outside and all junk mail gets tossed even before it makes its way inside. It bothers me but at least we can recycle the paper.

I highly recommend the Summer Girls series. They are very good summer reads. I wish I had more time to read. My 3 kids, their sports and my part time job working from home keeps me so busy. By the time 9 pm rolls around, I can barely stay awake. How do you do it?! I mean I am sure you put enough hours in with youtube editing/filming/planning to count as a job. I would love to see a video on how you keep things simple with the kids.

Tips and tricks vlog - what a great idea! Especially liked the food tips. I think a big tip is to always be aware of the contents of your fridge/freezer/pantry and decide what to cook based on that. There are even apps (All Recipes I think is one) where you can type in main ingredients and they recommend recipes. This way you use what you have and cut down on waste which I love. We treat it like a game around here - saves money and we have fun getting creative in the kitchen. P.S. for your raw cheese I’m not sure how firm it is but could you maybe cut off a chunk and use a food processor to shred/grate it? Not sure if you own one. Thanks for all the great tips. I use a keurig refillable Filter and use coffee of my choice and then just buy good kcups that I love if I find a good sale OR if we are having company or something then I will have some storebought ones on hand. ☕️

I hear ya! Less. Less pots and pans, less dishes. The less you have the less they can pile up before you have to wash something to reuse it, ya know? Also cleaning as you go, after adding a spice put it back, use a scrap bowl to contain garbage and then toss all at once. We run the dishwasher every night and empty every morning. Hope that helps! Kitchen messes are inevitable, they’re the mark of a home filled with people to feed and that’s a beautiful thing 💛

Hillary your glass top stove is in such good shape. Every glass stove top I’ve seen always looks nasty after awhile. I thought that’s what happens or is it that way because they neglect to properly clean them? Please review how you keep yours pristine. And does it scratch easily? Viewers please weigh in as well your opinion on these. A gas stove is not an option for me unfortunately. Thanks

I clean it daily to make sure nothing builds up and then use a Brillo pad to clean off anything burnt on, just the same as I clean my glass Pyrex dishes. I also finish with a spray glass cleaner to make it nice and shiny. I haven’t had any scratching issues, I’m just careful not to slide the cast iron across too much 💛

Hilary, here are 2 websites I have used besides yours. abesbooks.com books.com I love betterworldbooks.com also. I love a good book. Thank you for all the great vlogs. Hilary my Gram or my Mama made rice and eggs scrambled together with butter, salt & pepper. Yes they usually used leftover rice. It is one of my favorite dishes from my childhood. You could cook cheese and or vegetables in it we just like egg & rice.

How do you clean your cast iron?

Hot water mostly, but to scrub I’ll use coarse salt and sometimes with half a lemon. We’ve been using it so frequently these days that we haven’t had to scrub too much but if/when we do we try to wipe a little oil on it to keep it seasoned

I find the best price for k-cups is actually at the Christmas tree shop. It’s the Victor Allen’s coffee. They have big boxes that beat the price of Costco, plus u can use a store coupon. They have the same boxes at bed Bath and beyond & Harmon face values (of course they r all the same company). Again use the store coupon on top of the good value and it’s lower in price.
