This was honestly so great, I had no clue you were supposed to mix the sealant with water. I've watched a lot of tutorials and what not, but this one was by far one of my favorites, and one of the most helpful ones I've seen yet. Thank you so much for making this!
Thank you so much for making this! I’ve been dying to get into the world of customs- originally with Breyer but was too intimidated. I love custom LPS and after watching this I feel like I can actually do this!❤
I have a question do we have to have the real Lps to costuming or the fake I know it's a random question I don't know how to customize and the eyes is way helpful I will subscribe ty it helps me trying to make my frist Lps custom
This video is incredibly helpful & informative on how to get started with LPS customs! I’ve only made one LPS custom character so I’m totally going to be making more in the future. I really am a beginner when it comes to this stuff, so this video is simply perfect! I also totally agree with you about the eyes being the most important part of the custom, as the eyes are what really brings the character to life. My first LPS custom is a shiny grey robot corgi named David and the eyes I made him are just a solid red color, no eye shines or pupil, but I kinda like that on that particular type of custom, as it shows that he’s a robot & not a living pet. Of course, the possibilities are pretty much endless when it comes to eyes. The eyes on your customs are insanely detailed and incredibly made! Anyway, thank you for this very well explained video on how to make customs. Also, great job on the one you did for the video, I love that base color!
Thank you so much this video was definitely helpful. I myself love to customize Littlest Pet Shops unfortunately I don't have many LPs to customize but usually if I do it's either a fake or a newer generation I recently finished a moose LPS. But this is definitely helpful for future customisations
At the beginning of the step u guys will do instead of doing sculpting it after the oc is done, do it before u paint the oc in a thick layer of white paint. Then let the base dry, then u can pint and do what ever u want with it
Thank you for making this tutorial! I've made customs before but you can see some lumps on the paint and stuff so your advice can really help. Using the paint directly or adding lots of water to paint the base coat really makes the paint every uneven. I've dry brushed the base coat before and it really helped, but for some reason I forgot to do it after a while 😅 so thanks for the reminder! I really wanna make a wolf custom with a great dane base by sculpting the fur, but the best clap I have is polymer sculpt. Can you give me the link to the polymer clay sculpting tutorial ? Thanks! Oh yea, for a suggestion, maybe you could make a deeper sculpting tutorial on clothes, hair, and other accessories? And maybe a tutorial on how you get inspiration for original character customs? Sometimes I have issues on designing a unique theme and design.
Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! I’m really glad this helped. As for a polymer clay tutorial, definitely check out HelloStudios. It’s not extremely in depth, but her new video about sculpting tails is pretty helpful for that
@@cobalt.studios Yes, I actually did watch it a few days ago, I just don't know how long to bake it. Anyways I hope to see your new videos soon! I'll try commenting more often too!
OMG I Absolutely love Your Husk custom , Hazbin Hotel is my favorite and he’s my favorite characters. You’re so good at customizing your Lps. Do you sell them? Sorry if it’s a dumb question I’m new to the channel. 😄
Thank you so much! And yes I do. If you watch my newest video, you can actually see the newest customs I have for sale. There’s also a link to my eBay in the description of all of my videos, and I do commissions on my Instagram @cobalt.studios I’m opening commissions again on August 1st. Also, welcome to my channel. Glad you’re here :D
@@cobalt.studios Oh wow that’s so awesome well I definitely can’t wait, I’ll have to download Instagram but it will definitely be worth it. You’re customs are truly amazing and I honestly have not seen anything like it. I just think it’s so awesome. Thank you for the warm welcome and keep up the amazing work, it’s just truly wonderful and just perfect. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day or night. (Thank you for your Time.)
@@Ms.ANY_10NE thank you, and you too! :D if you’re on Instagram, go ahead and shoot me a DM :) I also have 300+ posts on there now, so there’s lots to look at😂
This video was very helpful! I wasn’t sure where to start or what to use, but this has a lot of useful information. Of course, I thought it had more to it than just putting paint or nail polish on an LPS, but it’s useful to know what specific materials you use and the order of everything. 😊🎨
Hey Cobalt! I love the video, great stuff and super helpful! Could you maybe do the next tutorial on sculpting hair? I want to go more in depth on customizing and doing hair looks fun and adds a lot of character and individuality! Congrats on 5k, awesome work man!
I found if your type of apoxie clay is hardening while your working with it lightly warm it up with a hair dryer and put a tiny amount of water on your finger that way you gain a bit more time with it aha
i know this video is pretty old, but i wanted to say that im really happy it exists :)) it helped me understand a lot about making LPS customs, and i cant wait to start making my own i just wanted to ask real quick if adding very small details can also be done using a toothpick? ty in advance
You have no idea how helpful this was! I know the video is almost 3 years old now, but I was wondering where you purchased your 'green stuff'? I can't seem to find anything online that'll ship to my location (Canada)
This looks kinda easy. I grew up collecting lps with a bunch of other girls I hung out with. I think itd be so cool if i could customize some like this. Ive always wanted to do make overs like squishy make overs or customize dolls and stuff, but it always seemed too labor intensive or expense or just plan difficult. I high key wanna try this
omg this is what i been looking for so long thanks for making videos like this, this will really help me with customizing lps also i have a question instead of like putting white paint can you use nail polish remover to remove the original paint off of the lps? i have another question is it okay if you use just sharpie for the eyes or is it better to use paint and also is it okay if i use clear nail polish to make it where the paint can't chip off of the lps easily?
Hi cobalt!! When you were mixing your kneadatite clay it was so smooth!! I have the exact same roll but I always end up with yellow chunks and i’m not sure if i’m doing something wrong, they become very hard and I can’t really break them apart
I know exactly what you’re talking about and that usually happens when it’s older and the the blue and yellow pieces have been touching in the middle for a while. They become more solidified, so to prevent this, just cut them in half and don’t mix in the part where they touch in the package. Hope that makes sense!
This was very helpful,i have done this before, but now that i saw this method,i was thinking about do a great dane mold,it will be green with mushrooms on it and that green stuff that grows on grass,(i forgot wut is was)and thats basically all im doing for it right now Ps-its like a forest pet-
Hello ! Do you think white clay could work for the sculpting part ? Thank you so much for your video i always loved petshops and i didn't know how to customised them but thanks to you i can finally custom them !
Like actual fur? Just don’t paint it. You can always cover it with masking take to ensure you don’t get any paint on it. And don’t put sealant on it either
I believe I covered most of that on the video :) As for brushed since I don’t think I mentioned that, I don’t use anything specific, just ones with soft bristles
ahh,, yea i found the brushes; at first i wasnt able to see the glossy sealant packaging ive been wondering though, how do you get such fine detials/strokes? i tried the eye stroke but even with my finest brush the stroke is too thick,, (im painting a eye redo so i cant really add paint to the sides to fix the mistake since i want to keep the original plastic fur there)
@@quackk2b2t the matte and gloss sealer I use are pod podge and Liquitex. Both brands are good for both things. Using fine details brushed definitely takes practice and some are super super tiny. Getting the brush a bit wet (not drippy) with water fist helps slick the bristles together so they’re more fine and thin if that makes sense
You can make those work but be careful cause the paint will scratch off. I’ve tried it before just as an experiment. But acrylic paint is the best option
It should be ok, just definitely do t get your custom wet and I recommend not sealing it. I’m guessing you’re going to use tempera paint? It does crack and won’t hold up over time. Acrylic paint is very cheep, and apple barrel is a good way to start out. Why won’t your mom let you use acrylic paint?
Ooh ya I could definitely make a tutorial on that. Gradients are tricky but it helps to get a base of both colors, let them try, and then add a wet layer of both and blend. A bit confusing to explain through typing, sorry about that. Hopefully it makes sense and helps :)
I don’t really think there’s any base easier than another. If you’re worried about ruining an good pet, try practicing on one you don’t really care about
Hi if anyone could help I am about to make a custom and I got the green stuff clay and I wanted to know could o make it any color besides green like would I paint over it ?
Okay thank you so much I didn’t expect you to reply so soon thank you and another question I think you stated in the video. am I able to keep the base as it is and then color over with another color of paint or do I have to paint another layer of paint just making sure what you said :))
