I recently raced my 2wd Traxxas Slash at my local off-road track. In the video I talk about what changes I made to get faster and things I would change for the future. Also left out that the LCG Chassis is a must have an runs about $28 on ebay, that keeps the truck from rolling over in the turns due to the center of gravity.

I know this video is 4 years old, But when I raced my LCG 2WD Slash with a 3900kv motor against the TLR and associated guys, I had no problems keeping up and beating them for that matter. I also have a TLR 22SCT 2.0. The Slash is more planted and drives better on my local hard packed clay Medium traction track. It's all in the setup and driving smart. Slow is smooth, and smooth is fast. The locals hate getting beat by a Slash. 🤣🤣

what surface was the track? what motor/esc gearing? With those tires your going to have problem. Important! To keep the front of the body nose high adjust the suspension but also cut vents in the hud and fender to keep the air from piling up like a kite you also left out what shock oils you were running the Slash 2wd can be a good racer but like any other RC if it's set-up pooly it will perform poorly, things like lowering the role center and softening the rear suspension will help it stick to the track, take corners faster and accelerate quicker and straighter tool lighter front springs with slightly thicker shock oil could fix your problem Always always make notes of what the car is doing, how its set up and then make 1 adjustment at a time so you know what exactly is or isn't helping Lastly ask the other faster racers running the same car how their set up or at least look at their ride height tire choice and spring color...running an aggressive "bashing" type tire on the front and a high contact "clay" service tire is going to cause push and eradicate handling All else fails go back to the factory set up and do what Traxxas sejects to improve bit by bit...remember, "slower is faster" "spinning ain't winning" and crashes take a lot more time then slowing down and keeping the car upright and moving...good luck, don't write the very good car off, learn how to get its full potential and you'll have a lot more fun and better track times Traxxas has a hotline to help people in your exact situation...its from, make use of it Good luck, don't get discouraged, ask other racers at your track for help

If it has a nose up attitude on the jumps you are on the throttle too long. try letting up right at the top of the jump for a flatter jump. adding weight only slows you down. I run with a stock body with no vents just fine. remember, you lose forward momentum when your wheels aren’t on the ground.

It’s all in the setup. Shocks oil, shock springs, toe angle, tires, both front and rear not just the rear and having the right tire for the track is also important, toe angle, ride height, I can go on and on but if your gonna go to a track ask questions to the guys or girls racing and you will notice just how much time they spend on a setting up the car.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but, guys who run Losi or Associated put the best motors and ESC's in them and use transmitter/ receivers with 3ms response. Weight is not as much a factor. A $30 stock motor cannot compete with $140 Fantom or Trinity guy :)

Slashes are fun in a slash class and that's it really.

Old video nonetheless, tell that to who was it' Ryan Cavelieri I believe who showed up at a SC event & unboxed a Brand New 2wd Traxxas Vxl & Smoked everybody in the circuit like 5 times over, we're talking very good racers with extremely high end machines lol, he ate em for lunch!! sometimes with Newbs & or Folks who race around the neighborhood but have never really raced Big time, they all tend to blame a specific model or version of a truck sucking instead of blaming themselves for sucking, remember it's not always the platform that stinks just because 10 other guys/gals say so... Everyone loves to bash Traxxas, but on that day they didn't & eventually realized it has much much more to do with skill than just the truck.......He was racing guys that had radio's over a Thousand dollars let alone there trucks Ha Ha, & he actually did it with those dreadful Hard stock Traxxas tires 😂.... However I do agree w/ the guy on this channel I would choose a TA over Traxxas for the track & Traxxas over TA for bashing & durability 💯😁🤘🏼🏁

What Esc & Motor did you run in this?

What do you think is a good brushless motor for just offroad bashing

I know this is old but for future readers - get a castle somwhere around 3000kv or so with a Mamba X, you'll easily run 50 - 60mph with the correct gearing on 3s...

Don't need a LCG Chassis just lower your ride height. Waste of money. Better tires would give you more front traction instead of adding Weight to a already heavy truck. Move shocks in on the bottom for more traction.

LCG chassis weights 15% less just lowering the ride height does not make up for the difference.
