That’s because America don’t charge a fortune on booze like Australia the only thing that’s really cheap in Australia to buy from the bottle shop is probably passion pop and that’s terrible
Simple, because the UK is just expensive, in Germany we can get budget vodka for under 5 bucks, like I know one which is like 4,99€ for 700ml, there are also flavored ones which you can get for 3,49€ also 700ml bottles, so it seems like they are ripping you off over there…
The UK's spirit tax is 28 quid per litre of alcohol. So a 1.5l of vodka at 40% abv would be liable to £16.80 in taxes, plus the base cost of the vodka, with another 20% VAT on top of that. S of that 22 quid, taxes probably account for close to 20 of it
Kroger stores have separate liquor stores attached to the grocery store. You cannot purchase the alcohol in the grocery section. I work in a Kroger Liquor Store lol
Bro I live in Canada and your top shelf stuff costs as much as our low grade for the same amount (Smirnoff 750ml is $24.99 in Canada yet a 1.75L bottle is $9.99 in America??????)
That's 2:1 ratio of mixer to alcohol (slightly higher) - not 1:1 or "almost 1:1". And frankly, it's better this way, and it'd be better still in a tall glass over ice.
