This is a popular overview of some of my favorite All Terrain Tires. I'm looking at the BF Goodrich AT KO2, General Grabber ATX, Continental Terrain Contact, Goodyear Duratrac, and the Goodyear All Terrain Adventure. My favorite tire it the BF Goodrich KO2. It makes any truck look good. I like the General Grabber ATX too. If you ever need a set of tire and you aren't sure what you need, give me a call or text. So wrong. America has TONS of people like this. The problem is you have to get out in your community and support all these knowledgable small businesses. Ive never understood why saving $40 on Amazon and Walmart on $1500 worth of tires is worth seeing these business owners disappear.

The General Grabber ATX is an extremely underrated tire. I love mine. While I really liked the Duratracs, they seemed to have more “side lean to them. The General ATX just seems much more stable.

That kevlar tire is just a gimmick. I had a set of those. They were only c rated and had a bruised sidewall that was bulging out. I have the K02s now. IMO its a way better tire. Screw good year anyway. Support blm but not all lives matter or thin blue line. I wonder how many Priuses are buying high end tires these days?

I have the Goodyear duratrac best tire I ever owned , install on my GMC truck great in the mud and great in the snow , I live in the country have dirt roads and paved roads and these tires keep my truck on the road ,and also on wet pavement too, some people would say what about the ice on the road , to me for that answer its all about the driver's skill in driving on ice roads....over all in this video I give it 5 stars

I hear one bad review on these tires, but it was one and the only one i found, so I would be interested if you think Duretrak would work...among the other choices for I would be using them for.

My Continental Terrain Contacts are very sticky on all surfaces without a hit to mpg. I crawled up a gravely 25° incline and with no problem in RWD. They are amazing in the rain too. Puddles don’t pull my truck in nor have I hydroplaned @ 75 mph. 4wd in the snow and ice, driving conservatively, has been great.

I have a Tahoe I use for hunting/fishing/winter and I'm on my 3rd set (with different vehicles). I blew out a sidewall last week hitting a pothole. The tire was 8 years old and weather checked pretty bad so I went E series this time. I love the traction these tires have. I've previously owned the BFG KO2 KO Mud terrain. I don't think they compare at all.

i hate to break it but you should've included the Hankook Dynapro ATs those are the some of the best tires for the money I've ever had. The only ones that rival their performances are the Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. I live in the city with shitty roads so the Hankook Dynapros AT tires handle snow filled, icy roads and rough/rocky roads very well

I live in northern WI, north of Green Bay, and had both DuraTracs and KO2s. The Duras are better winter tires than the KO2 in my opinion. I had them on a 1500, and the KO2s on the 2500. I've used both trucks to pull out vehicles in the snow. The Duratracs would pull them through unplowed roads about 6"-8" deep with no tire slipping (we've had storms where no snowplow would come for days afterwards). The KO2s, I get a lot of tire spin when I do. They're starting to get a little slicker just on wet roads too. I'm running 37s on it, so I'm thinking the ATx may be the next set of tires.

I run the Goodyear Duratrax on my Jeep in the Sierra Nevada Mountains where we have chain restrictions like you talked about. The absolute best tires in snow I’ve ever had as long as your vehicle has a little weight to it, in the summer they do great off road on the big rocks. On my dually I run the Goodyear Adventurers since its life gets spent as a max capacity tow vehicle these have a better weight rating than the Duratrax. Both tires wear extremely well. I ran the BF Goodrich tires you show one time and wasn’t happy with them. It seemed like the compound was too hard so the didn’t hook up on snow and ice anywhere near as good as the Duratrax.

I bought my Ford F-150 back in August of 2017 and it came with a brand new set of General Grabber AT2’s on and I have really enjoyed them. I like the “wider stance” provided by the tread and while they might not be the quietest tire on the market, I certainly haven’t noticed the noise. I’ve driven through rocky terrain, sand, water, mud, occasional snowfall here in NC, logging roads, etc. without a problem. Is the General Grabber ATX a worthy replacement?

The hours I spend in residential for Uber eats 8 -10 hours, I have no doubt that winter tires would be good, but I am a good driver, I pay attention to the road and I don’t drive fast. However I have liked the feel of all terrains the last 5 years, just the brand I picked wasn’t well known Maxxis... but they have done very well. Now I have seen videos like this on quality known picks... I like the rugged feel, had two screws plugged... winter tires small side walls...is there such a thing as a rugged performance winter tire... not to worried about the roads main streets etc, but I will be in ungraded areas and they debris that usually punctures, is why my search for a good all terrain with side wall protection, also cost... if I could get a winter tires that was as durable as ATS, that would be fine.:: Mchlln ex ice is good on the highway at high speeds, not so good in gravel road she blizzacks are, but blizzacks have grey area on dry pavement, and wear faster then mchllns, they are both the best on the market no doubt...need something that is gonna take a beating winters suck here, lots of rough roads pot holes ect. Grabber sounds good... duratec sounds good??.

What is with the BFG being the gold standard? I've spent most of my life in rural areas. We considered them basically a highway tire. The guys that took them off road into mud or deep snow always seemed to be stuck. They were easy to pull out though because they didn't get very far.
@mmholling87
@mmholling87 5 лет назад
Ok, in your opinion what is the gold standard AT tire?
@wayne-764
@wayne-764 5 лет назад
@@mmholling87 There are so many good tread patterns that are almost identical between brands and such a variety of both mild to agressive a/t branded tires. It really depends on driving conditions. A good a/t in Arizona could be horrible in my part of the world "North and South Dakota". I know when the snow gets "deep" +1 foot or the pastures and fields get muddy "true off road not playing on a trail" the KO2 simply will not get you back home, several a/t's will. It does look nice but more of a copper standard, silver at best. The Cooper Discoverer A/T3 xlt, St Max, Toyo Open Country, Goodyear Wrangler Duratrack and several others would completely outperform the BFG A/T. Some of their M/T tires are great though.

BF Goodrich is without a doubt the worst f'n POS tire that I have ever ran on my Tacoma at 275,000 miles. WORST EVER. Pure garbage. And from what I understand the tires were even R&D'd on a Tacoma. Complete waste of money. They were shot to hell at 20K miles. Whatever you do, DON'T EVER ROLL with the BF Goodrich. NEVER EVER AGAIN. They wear horribly. A terrible tire for sure. I wouldn't be so pissed had they not been so expensive. Never again. "Gold Standard" may hind end.

I hate to hear that. I know that they have changed the compound on some sizes becasue of accelerated wear. I have never had a problem with wear at all.

I've had 4 of those tires, and 1 i will never have... can anyone guess? yes thats right the continental... goodyear duratrac is the best tire in that bunch, and the best tire I have ever had. KO2 is over rated, looks old, and wears out way too fast (ko2). The duratrac is a little louder but still wears better and is much better in gravel, mud, snow and sand.If you want a general, I'm real interested in the X3... haven't had them yet but they look very good. Currently I'm running a set of Safari TSR's(not bad, not a duratrac), and a set of All terrain adventures(nothing impressive whatsoever).

I live in NJ. Blacksburg, VA was a midway point on a trip home. I needed 4 new specialty tires that Campus special ordered for my truck the day before I came through. There was a 25% chance that they wouldn‘t fit on my truck. Matt ordered them with the promise that if they didn’t fit I wouldn’t be charged. Not only were they able to get the tires and do the work on the MORNING I was passing through....they did it at an extremely fair price and in short time. Stellar customer service. Side note.....I run a real estate office with 120 associates (25 years). Strong customer service keeps me in businessand I not only recognize it, I train it. I spent 2 hours in Matt’s waiting room listening to his team interact with customers and potential customers. First class all the way. Don‘t hesitate to use them.

So which way I go? I have a 2020 TRD pro,Toyota tundra but in my opinion the Michelin‘s are too small of a tire for that truck. I was thinking of the BF good rich KO2. I want to upgrade to 295 at the most maybe 285/70. However not looking for loud road noise most of my driving will be on the street but I do like doing my camping trips and fishing trips and going on small trails low profile. I do love the rugged look of the BF good rich KO twos but what would you recommend?

I had a few sets of General Grabber AT2 on my truck for last 5-7 years. New ATX model seems better for Highway driving & Sand while the Old AT2 is better for mud & snow based on the lug depth and separation.

Best looking BFG, NOT! Has to be the ugliest tire in the market. Best looking would be Mickey Thompson ATZ3 speaking of AT patterns. Both Cooper and Mastercraft has awesome looking Patterns as well as Nitto. These days it’s hard to find a BAD tire.

Love my General Discoverer A/T for my RAM 1500 Quad Cab. Got a great deal on them at my local Walmart. They ride far better than the Goodyear Eagle tires that came on the truck from the factory because they were Terrible on wet roads and they did not ride well overall.After three sets I changed to something new and I’m so happy I did.I am shocked at the huge difference and they cost much less than the Eagles.Also the Cooper Discoverer A/T is very Quiet on the Highway and they have a very good off road tread. I’m 60 years old and I think they may be the best all around tires I have ever had on any truck & I’ve owned a lot of pickup trucks in my lifetime.

I wont get another set of duratracs they dont last for us just under a year and we noticed considerable wear my buddy found the same with his set I think they are not good on gravel roads. I prefer the toyo open country c/t just woundering your opinion

Is there anything we can buy online from your store in return for this excellent video and advice? I am in Portland, OR, almost always on-road, lots of rain, some snow. Looking for something to replace stock Bridgestone 685's on a 2019 Ram 1500. Want the new A/T's to look good, and have the snow rating, but still perform great on wet roads. Price is not a consideration, and there is occasional heavy towing. If forced to compromise, I would give up the snow rating.

I've had many different brands of all terrain tires over the years - Goodyear, BF Goodrich, Michelin and more. All have a few strengths and weaknesses, and all have been upstaged by my current tire, a tire destined to be my all time favorite - the Falken Wildpeak A/T3W All Terrain 265/70R16. A fair to good dry tire that excels when the weather gets nasty. The best wet road tire I have even driven on, and an even better ice and snow tire. Although an all terrain tire, this tire also sports the snow emblem, rating it as snow capable. They have certainly found a home under my Tundra. [edit] For the record, I found the BF Goodrich to be the worst wet road tire of all the all terrain tires I have used. I live where it rains most days and I would not own a set of these ever again. IMHO, a dangerous tire in inclement weather, even though a good dry weather off road tire. I nicknamed them Sliders for their behavior in the rain, and I am a very conservative driver as my giddy-up left years ago.
