That second number kills me. Percentage of tread depth? What don’t the just use millimeters again and save us all from finding our calculator app. ?

What does the Z mean if the tire is 225/45/ZR18. ??

That’s a speed rating that’s sometimes put on tires. Z indicates the tire shouldn’t be used at speeds greater than 150mph.

Don’t forget about the speed rating of the tire. The higher the speed, the more expensive the tire, & the sidewalk plus. If you have a SUV, or truck the tire will have more plus, also more expensive the more plys the tire may have.

If my bmw tires are supposed to be 45R but I have 50R would that explain why my car sounds like it’s catching onto something that makes my car make a rattling sound when I’m going 5MPH? Sounds like when you put a card between the spokes of a bicycle tire.

Can you help: I had flat tire today (pothole), front right side. I drove 4x 215/50/17. I had only r16 spare, so I ask for service help - they put same tire from back right to front right, and put a spare 225/50/17 on back right. Will it affect my ride in any aspect (control, balance).. I drove to home pretty slower, because I was afraid of some sort of disbalance and stuff like that.. do I have to worry, and should I purchase same 215/50/17 as soon as possible? Thanks

The 16x8 rim is wider. The rim is 16 inches in diameter and 8 inches in width, which means the 16x7 rim has its width 1 inch smaller.

@pekechungus1564 good to know. Hey, could a size 16 tire(say.. 235-60R 16 tire) fit both 16×7 and 16×8 rim? .. yes I'm currently trying to find proper size rims for my tires😃
