I really APPRECIATE❤ your approach on how to analyze physics in rally sims, which is not an easy task. Well done, thank's a lot for your inspirations. What I want to remark: The stages in WRC Gen look so much more ALIVE and affectionately crafted compared to the new EA Sports WRC.
Thank you! Yea, in fact I feel like it's the main positive from the Kylotonn games. Their stages look a bit funky in terms of scale but somehow you just find yourself immersed in it, and not to mention, there are no super special / spectator stages in EA WRC. It's so boring. But hey, people like different things.
WAIT i just realised while watching this i have seen you in rbr rallies before. It's cool that I found a channel of someone i have previously seen doing well in rallies and it makes me respect your opinion more
Thank you, appreciate the respect! I crash out of rallies quite often though. Anyway, what's your username? Just so I can look out for you in online rallies too XD.
@@G.Wee_Rallying It's JaMa, I haven't done a rally in a while but ill start doing them again. I drive a lot in a league called world rally foundation and there is going to be a new season using the wrc 2.0 litre cars maybe you should join
3:30 exactly! EA's cars seem to float over the ground with a rubber band or glue holding them down. The roads are too smooth, but it doesn't matter because weight transfer seems to have no effect on how the cars drive. The interaction with roadside ditches/high angle walls like rock walls is very inconsistent too. Sometimes you bounce off them like an old gran turismo game sometimes it launches you in the air. The cars in EA wrc rotate artificially and are way too reactive. Ripping the steering wheel at 60mph on dirt the car immediately reacts with no understeer or reaction delay. If you take a rwd car and drive in 5th gear at 20mph at full throttle through a long corner, the car will spin out like there's a fake rotation force in effect. WRCG I just picked up. It's a breath of fresh air. Cars feel much more realistic, weight transfer is very satisfying (especially New Zealand high speed stages!). Tire reactions feel way more like they do in my real life car on stage gravel tires (steer, low grip delay, weight transfer, grip, car turns/reacts) . You can see what I mean at around 20s in this video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-K4L9UMCVl1w.htmlsi=Yhh9Gd6RXxEYF8uY My big issue is the tires never dig down to grip. This is a problem launching, at large slide angles and low speed hairpins. It looks like the mod maybe solves that (watching the Finland launch). One bummer is an auto-braking bug I've discovered. It happens if you start in 2nd gear which is how I like to launch 2wd cars to manage wheel spin. Letting off throttle brakes go to 50% immediately. With the bad low speed tire spin and auto braking bug it makes the lancia 037 difficult to drive. I have to suffer a poor launch in first gear until the timer starts to avoid the auto brake bug. Oh, one last thing! The games default settings are way too soft and the diffs too open! Increasing the diff preload and accel lockup makes a huge difference in most cars. Cheers on a great video!!
Thanks for a more detailed look into the physics. Yes the physics mod does make going more sideways much more reliable and also fixes the wheel spin issues. If u could u should try WRC 10 as well, maybe try for a little while and refund it. The handling is a lot better in that game but the cars are too fast. If WRC G has similar car behaviour to WRC 10 while keeping the feeling of inertia, I think it would hit the sweet spot. Except for RWD though, in WRC 10 RWD feels like AWD for some reason.
Damn did you put a lot of work into this video! Great stuff, really! Wasn't aware of the WRC Generations mods. Since I'm disapointed af from EA WRC and don't have the nerves currently to setup RSF again, I might really try it in the next couple weeks. :D
@@G.Wee_Rallying have you tried the new SurfaceFX physics for Rally in Assetto Corsa? Curious of your opinion on it. Should make an interesting video. :) subbed. Cheers
RBR replay camera is still the best. I don't know how EA WRC manage to fk it up, But the replay camera as a spectator feels stiff (On point all the time on the car) and has that fish eye lens camera when the car flies by. It's bad.
Agreed. Just need a good sound mod and dark windshield mod, I heard they may be coming. EA WRC is very underwhelming, I had such high hopes. Some stages are good... but it feels so lacking. My favourite lately is seb loeb rally evo though.
I totally agree man, the sounds are quite lame. Same here, my main complaint is that EA WRC doesnt even have super special stages. They spent so much effort making gimmicks like the car builder and regularity rally that really nobody asked for that they had to cut corners with their stages. It also has very crappy post processing, sunny stages with cockpit cam makes everything outside have too much bloom. As for Seb Loeb Rally Evo, that game is really not commonly played, it does sound like a good alternative to the 3 I mentioned though. Maybe it needs more attention.
@@G.Wee_Rallying I say WRCG might not simulate the PHYSICS accurately, but it simulates the FEELING of hustling a fast car down a narrow road VERY WELL; love it!
Wonderful video appreciate it, I would like to know if there are settings whereby to prevent the cars from sliding all over the place and as soon as you accelerate you loose control of the car then I become pissed lol..thank you
@@darttroll7666 well that was pretty much an older version of this game made by the same developer and by "current" in the title I meant the latest from the biggest 3 rally game developers talked about nowadays that being EA Codemasters, Kylotonn and RallySimFans so I didn't consider it as part of the discussion. But hey there are many things that DR2 still does better than EA WRC.
generations with mods are best on wheel and wrc1 or 2 cars... stages are really top notch.. im starting to like ea wrc on controller and getting used to the grips on gravel and dirt.. tarmac sucks and overall stages like you said is blend.. havent tried the new dlcs but i just bought them so that rally games dont die in general rbr has been getting less love from me because am tired sometimes have you tried assetto corsa rally? heard its good now with surfacefx.. good thing is we can always have all the games and play them all 😂
physics mod comparison to me the vanilla is better.. some corners u can see the weight sliding the car out. i like the damage mod. is there a mod to turn clutch overrideOFF? i mean dirt rally has it.. and u can stall or grind gears with it OFF.
Isn't that how cars work let a look at your example at 3:42 you said front turns rear slips out and on 3:51 u said front turns in rear slips out again it's the same thing dk what's u on about
Even imo KT WRCs best bet was 8 they went similar to DR1s Grip but better tarmac Which where EA WRC did went Even RBRs NGP they increase grip per version Aince 9 they reduce it point where becoming DR2.0 9 or 10 was acceptable maybe excuse for same game but different felt excuse didnt liked much in Generations And much worst factor of KT Racing WRC is Classics they are awful RWD and FWD cars acts like 4wd car with torque bias set to rear RWD car felt way stable and FWD cars felt rear actually has force. In fact theres god damn Torque Bias Setting in setup menu and tunning do helps cars handle (Its been removed when jimmy Broadbent made video but you only lose setup RWD/FWD behavior is lazy 4WD edit) I know Its Better in EA WRC since previous DR2.0 package was Classics but not only that classics lists are way better having Super 1600/2000 morenkit cars previous Year Junior WRC and RWD/FWD felt like should been
I see I see, I personally feel like they all felt way too fast except WRC Generations which this mod fixes. WRC 8 had so much grip it was like driving on tracks, you slide too little, in WRC 9 you could slide a lot more but it was still way too fast, the cars felt like RC Cars (too light and responsive), in WRC 10 it was a lot better, you had to control the throttle when exiting hairpins on tarmac to reduce wheel spin but it was still a little too fast compared to real life. WRC Generations then felt way too sluggish, especially the tarmac. And yes the fake RWD was quite disappointing to see too. I remember at one point they had front differentials on RWD cars which I added some lock to, making them act like 4WD cars to gain an advantage in online races.
@@G.Wee_Rallying KT WRC went reducing grip per game But popular RBR physics mod NGP they went backward per version increasinng grip make the car acts like car instead making the car hard to drive
@@od13166 Yup, noticed that too. NGP 5 was just stupidly slippery. It's a lot better now, grip wise I find NGP 7 ok, I've made videos comparing RBR to real life and RBR is somehow still faster than real life, I had to make the stages wetter or use the wrong tyres to come closer to the real life timings, so the grip could be a little too much but I feel that the cars still respond a little too reluctantly to steering input. Then again I'm not a real rally driver yet so I just got to trust Workerbee's data and research.
@@Pianist7137Gaming Yup, we have a discord here discord.gg/sWx9j25q, you can find a few sim rally drivers there. Do join quick, this link expires in 7 days.
Yes, in many ways it is, but there are reasons to like it too. Anyways, I appreciate your dedication in making skins, I've come across your name, not sure from RBR or DR2 but thanks for your contributions! Honoured to have you watch my video.
Bored of RBR? It doesn't seem possible, with almost 500 stages and 98 cars and many online championships running every day of the year. Best not to waste time and concentrate on learning how to drive better on RBR-RSF.
Well, like I said, some people might want to have fun instead of doing difficult things. This video just offers them an option. For me, I'd still keep trying and inevitably die on the 2nd last stage in Sim Rally Masters.
@@G.Wee_Rallying some years. I had actually played with it quite a bit when it was new, but I had put it aside in preference to GPL. A few years ago I discovered the RSF mod of RBR which is so good that I haven't played anything else since.
@@G.Wee_Rallyingno offense, but explaining other rally games to diehard RBR fan is useless. They'll somehow come up with "no way, rbr has the best physics. You just have to practice more. End of discussion". Oh man, they just don't understand that some people just want to enjoy to play rally games, no need super difficult physics or installing tons of mods or custom content. And it's even more annoying if the person who says that has never driven a rally car.
