Thansk for the hoenst and meticulous review. I always wanted a nice revrse panda watch and the Breitling chronomat from the last generation is my fav but it's outside my budget and income level. I found this guy for 1340 USD after tax on Jomashop and grabbed it.
Banging review and spot on observations!!! It is most definitely a better “looking” watch than the original PRX but doesn’t “wear” anywhere near as well. Thanks again mate for taking the time to make this review!
You could argue its a sort of homage but have to admit it's great looking watch . It really does look like more expensive piece than it is . I would happily rock this watch. Good stuff Andrew
Great review. Subscribed. The date change is best with a wooden toothpick. I love that I’m not going to mess up the crown by fiddling with the date too much
Looks lovely 😊 nothing wrong with it, don’t mind the date change, don’t mind the thickness. But for some reason I wouldn’t but one, I don’t know why? . Lovely 😊 video mate, you’re looking a bit pasty, to much time in the office mate. Take care 👍🏻😊😎
I have both the 3 Hander Powermatic 80 and since yesterday also the Chrono and love these two very much, but those are a bit critical on small Wrist, but to fit perfect on my 20 mm Wrist.
I see a lot of reviews mentioning the size a lot and yes it’s not small by any means but I tried it on in store and compared to my 44mm seiko ‘hulk’ diver and it wasn’t any bigger than something like that
Breitling super ocean looks ok 👍🏻, the new ones I mean , maybe the dial a bit small though. They should do an in house movement by now to follow omega etc
Having owned the quartz PRX, I found the bracelet fit reasonable with the provided half links. I do think though that with the beast of a watch head on this new chrono, any loose play on the bracelet will exacerbate that weight and become a distraction. Good looking watch all the same.
for people who say the price is too high, compared to what exactly? where can you get a Swiss made valjoux brand new chronograph for under $2k and with warranty? the tudor blacybay is 4x the price if you can get one the grey market and it's most likely either used or stolen. hamilton intramatic costs even more and to be honest everyone and their dog has one. it's also the same exact thickness at 15mm. so no the prx is not thicker than competition and it's not too expensive.
Maaaaaaaate. Well, if it wasn’t for you (with Neil’s aid) bringing this watch to my attention I would have just skipped it… I didn’t get PRX bug… You guys got me waltzing down to the AD with the Ball Engineer but you not getting me again, not with this one at least…😬 No no no…😅
It's a beauty, but I can't see it as a "daily." Just to much heft. And that's from someone who wears lot of 43, 44, and 45mm watches, as part of a rotation. My daily though, is the same as his, and after a solid day of wearing one of my pieces w/ that kind of presence, I need a day w/ "ol' trusty," again, before I can wear something different. I do think the regular PRX, makes more sense. To each, his own though. Great review though brother. Thank you for sharing it
Would I spend £1,500 for a Tissot? Well considering that is the most affordable automatic chronograph out there and the quality of the movement, the case, bracelet and overall watch is fantastic, absolutely 100% YES! There are some thing that I would change, but still being a hell of a watch. Just wonder if its proper for my 173 mm or 6.8 inches wrist?
Very nearly bought one of these, tried a few on, just too big, feels like a brick hanging off your wrist. Ended up buying the non-chrono version with a better size and a third of the price
Yeah totally agree with most of your thoughts mate. I Love the quartz PRX so this in comparison just does not work for me. It’s a retro dress watch that doing its best to be sporty… why? Having said that it does look great, but that’s down to the original design more than adding the sub dials etc. The real fly in the ointment though is the depth at 15mm, early on in my watch journey I ballsed up and bought a watch on line that was that thick. Although I have given it my best shot it’s pretty much unwearable for me anyway. Sure that for some it will be just fine as will be the weight as it really is a lovely watch.
Agreed with the thickness but for me the lack of waffle patterns makes it "meh" compared to its powermatic counterpart... Or I would say the dial looks "cheaper" than the powermatic, the waffle and sunburst patterns always catch the light regardless and makes the dial seems dynamic, while the chrono and the quartz is just "meh". But still it looks expensive, but not 1700usd expensive, unless it retains the waffle or atleast it has sunburst brushing instead. Saw it in AD and for me personally, it was quite a let down.
But then for movement there is really not much choices for a chronograph sub 3000usd. There are swiss made modular chronograph movements that could be used either by Dubois Depraz module (cam activated chronograph module, and which made pushers sits higher than the crown, but used wildly by brands in the past from omega, GO, Longines, Hamilton, Tag Heuer, Breitling, and a lot more, into even AP and other high end brands) or ETA chronograph module (compact and thinner column wheel activated chronograph module widely used by Rado, Longines, Hamilton and Tissot and have its own proprietary movement holder to service it and also made pushers aligned with the crown) and then integrated chronograph movement made by Valjoux that is THICC no matter what you do with it. They could've used Lemania or Frederique Piguet chronograph movement but the price would be much much more expensive. My best bet is if only they used the ETA module instead, much thinner and compact so there would be no diameter increased from the powermatic version and just a slight thickness increase as well.
£1500 for a Tissot? I hope there is a substantial discount on it because I cannot imagine anyone wanting to pay that price for Tissot on the dial. It is way too big and thick for me. I would rather save up for a Tudor.
@@pureblood8307 I find the BB58 has the perfect proportions. At least you can get your money back on most Tudors. Some even trade above list. Not sure what the resale is like on a Tissot which is not an issue sub £500 but £1500 is stretching the brand appeal somewhat i would suggest.
