We had them at KI Sawyer with the original P&W J57 engines. When they injected water on takeoff, one was as loud (if not louder) than a F106 on afterburner.

Not like the MIDO takeoffs in the seventies. Out of Mather with the B-52's.

That is what I was thinking as well. I later became a KC-135 pilot but was at Mather (active duty) boom operator in the 1976-1980 time frame.

Judging from the old SAC MITO standards, my thoughts were that 2 of them were at normal MITO spacing and the remaining jets were spaced a bit far apart... almost like "Cell Departure" standards.
