I've said it before and I'll say it again. My conspiracy theory is that Titan is a shell company owned by Rogue to make their Rogue like look more Prestigious. This Titan trap bar is the Toyota Camry to Lexus ES series (Rogue trap bar).
I'm surprised with some of the negative reviews. I was so impressed with the ru-vid.comUgkxMwYg0MOXR4M-oGeyBsNSYe1aPOUoRH6D cage that I got the lat pulldown attachment that goes with it. It is equally outstanding. I don't have one complaint other than putting it together is a job. The instructions and packaging of the parts are very well designed and organized. Also, I stripped and damaged the pull down cable the first day, admitting it was my stupid fault, and they quickly replaced it at no charge. I'm 6'5, 280lbs and fit in the cage just fine. Glenn B
I have the Titan trapbar. I'm 6' 1" and 240 lbs and it works really well for me. I will say I have a more narrow deadlift stance. Farmer walks are not an issue.
Thanks for another great review. I have the Titan trap bar and I’m very happy with it. It seems that the distance between the handles is often overlooked. Trap bars were initially intended for shrugs, where a wider grip is beneficial. For deadlifts, getting the arms closer to vertical is better. The Titan bar handles are 22” apart, compared to 25” for the Rogue. I marked the center of the handles with a piece of tape.
Happened to be looking at trap bars this morning and came down to needing one with longer sleeves than some of the designs I originally liked. Given the price, size, dual handles, and overall design, I picked one of these up because this video timing was sheer perfection.
I like how you can put weights on this and then pick it up. If it’s too easy you can add weight. If it’s too hard you can take weight off. Pretty solid concept.
If you’re giving Rogue basically equal airtime on a Titan review, you may as well have reviewed HulkFit trap bar as well, for a fraction of the cost on either of them.
I've had this since December 2020. I have rogue equipment but this is my first trap bar and first Titan piece. IMO, it's great for what it is. A specialty bar I use once a week. I have had zero complaints about it.
I usually prefer to support innovation by buying originals and not copies. That being said, there are just some things that my budget ain't ever gonna allow for. So, I did purchase this bar instead of the Rogue version. I already had one similar to the CAP one minus the high handles. I did want a rack-able trap bar with the high handles, so I got this one as well. If you don't already own a trap bar I would recommend skipping this one and getting one of the CAP one's with the high handles. The reason is the shorter length is way more convenient for farmers walks in a smaller home gym type set up. The long one is a PITA to try and turn around with in a tight space. If you have bumper plates and lift pretty heavy, then this makes a good second bar.
I just bought this bar and I’m pretty impressed with it. Came packaged well, knurling on the handles feel pretty good and they actually now have a metal plate with their logo instead of the sticker.
2 loosely related thoughts: 1:“Goo Gone” is a great product for removing sticker residue, etc. 2: Can someone please develop a “Garage Gym Reviews” brand sticker and send a bunch to Coop?
I’ve been wanting a trap bar for months...I literally just bought a Vulcan ox bar last night (they just got some back in stock yesterday after a loooong time). Open design, rackable...but $500 (0 tax, 0 shipping for those in the US).
@@StrongerThanBigfoot Titan has never copied anyone take their SSB V2 it looks similar to elite FTS but truth be told the titan version doesn't hang as low despite being the same camber angle... They also made theirs Chrome instead of black powder coat which was a better choice... They wouldn't do that they're known for being industry leaders in innovation look at there plate loaded rack neck attachment genius! Also look at their p something something vs a reverse hyper they call it something different so it's not the same machine
I ordered Titan trap bar after I saw this review. Packaging is impressive....maybe this is the first time I got a bigger piece of equipment without any damage. Olympic plates fit perfectly. Handle width: I could use an additional inch for deadlift. For working the trapezius, the handle width is perfect. Build quality looks great. Durability... time will tell
I picked up this bar on a Flash Sale. The knurling on my example is easily more aggressive than my Rogue Ohio bar. I went from hardly ever deadlifting to 5x5 400 lbs in about 6 months. Aaand my mind was just blown seeing that I should be using it in a landmine. Thanks Coop!
I love the hex bar. Its the first thing I look for when I join a new gym. Too bad not enough gyms have them. Anyway, I'm 6'4 but have a narrow torso, so the narrow bar would be more desirable for me. Anyway, I would never use a knurled bar without gloves. Gone are the days of weight bars truing my hands into shredded wheat.
HulkFit Olympic 2-Inch Hex Weight Lifting Trap Bar, 1000-Pound Capacity (Chrome, Regular) 106.06 shipped free to my door from Amazon with Prime. Not perfect but works great! Knurling is a bit aggressive for me, but I just wear gloves.
was literally just comparing the 2 today and this video comes out! I have the titan olympic hex bar and would like to get one of these instead, bummer on the inconsistent knurling but also not terribly surprising
This appears to be Coop before he became Corporation Coop, loose shirt, hair just hanging around, thicker body, a real garage guy right here, we miss you Coop
For those worried about width of this trap bar inside the handles, I'm 6'2" 205lbs with 33 inch waist, and have no problem using this bar. So, if you are slightly larger than me I wouldn't worry too much. Honestly my only complaint about this bar is I don't prefer the knurling, it's a little aggressive for my taste and often end up using straps. Otherwise it's an awesome bar and can't beat the price.
@@BrendanCBreen I think it could be a tight fit for you. I haven't seen anyone with your size demonstrating this bar, but I have seen big guys use the Rogue version successfully. Also at 6'4" there is a slight possibility the front of your knees might come close to touching the inside perimeter of the bar when going through the deadlift motion depending on your body mechanics.
I own 2 bars from Titan, their Hex Bar and Swiss Bar. I love them both. In regards to the Hex Bar, I do agree with Coop on the knurling. I suugest using straps with this bar.
Coop, thanks for all the content! You’re one of the reason I finally pulled the trigger and bought the Rep PR 5000 from Reps memorial sale. Also bought this bar too so glad to see it’s not shit lol
Post 2018 Titan Fitness products have all been top notch in my opinion. I am actually ordering the Titan trap bar right now. The Titan SSB V2 is the best SSB I have ever owned or used; and, I have used the original Crepinsek, the Elitefts Yoke and the Rogue SSB. The elitefts SSB Yoke is a close second, but the sleeves are a smaller diameter than a standard barbell and my Titan SSB sleeves are standard diameter. The Rogue SSB I used was not impressive, at all. Rogue's margins are just dumb. I prefer Made in the USA and have always owned Ford Trucks, but when it comes to form vs function in my garage, I am biased towards function. I just cannot justify the prices of Rogue and/or Kabuki Strength products.
I just ordered one after watching this, being a small frame guy, my current bar has handles that are too wide. Looking forward to narrower grip and ability to put on more than 3 plates.
got it, shoulda measured better, its nearly 8ft friggin long, cant get it thru my small garage door unless i turn, Don't understand why it is so long , my old one was like 60 inches , geez. Either gonna cut it down, or sell it.
Cooop! Review the Costco functional trainer. Everyone says its legit but there are no good reviews on it. And for $1200 you can’t beat it if its a good machine.
I know someone who has the Rogue trap bar, I'm not impressed. The finish just flakes off, the collars are very low quality. Most of the time Rogue's products are worth the extra $$, but in this instance, I will probably get the Titan or something similar to save money since there is no extra quality to be had.
Same thing with the mass storage system. I started off with Titans. I then wanted to add more storage and bought Rogue's because Titan was out of stock. I honestly can't tell the difference in quality, powder coat, etc. I actually have titan shelves on Rogue uprights and vice versa. While I'll never buy a olympic bar from Titan, for stuff like a trap bar or MSS I have no reservations going with titan.
Can't tell you how many times I've added it to my cart and then second guessed it because Coop hadn't reviewed it yet. I needed this. My main concern is the handle width like you mentioned. I'm 6'3" and think the extra width on the Rogue may be worth the extra money.
Get the Rogue. Im 6'0 and I've used both. Titan is too narrow. Rogue is night and day better. Also Rogue knurling is great. I didn't want to spend the extra money but I'm glad I did
Nice review. I got a Cap Mega hex bar (after reading your print review). It's a 75# beast with 24-25" spacing on handles, 13" collars, with two sets of handles. It's very basic but does the job.
I have the black phosphate Synergee hex bar ($269.95), it's not rackable but the construction and build quality looks better than either the Rogue or Titan. The one I ordered came scratched during shipping so they refunded me and told me to keep the bar, great deal.
The narrow space between the handles was the deal breaker for me. I’m currently using Titan’s Rickshaw/Farmers Walk for deadlifts ( with stellar results ) until Titan makes a V3 of this trap bar with wider handle placement. Rogue is no doubt the better trap bar, but including shipping charges , it’s twice the cost. It’s great, just not 2X great.
@@MakinItHappenn I’m a few inches over 6. I think more than height in importance would be how wide your shoulders ( and perhaps hips ) are, as that’ll dictate how cramped it may get during use. Get it anyways, at 5’8” and assuming you’re not built like Micheal Phelps or a tree swinging gibbon, you should be good to go between the handles.
i bought the cheapest titan hex bar i think it was $159 from their online store and i love it..the higher priced models are nice, but unless you are competing the basic titan bar will get you satisfactory results..your muscles dont care how much you spend on a hex bar, they just know when they are getting punished and thats what this hex bar does. imo the titan basic hex bar is titans best
i like that titan puts stickers, so i can take it off and nobody knows its made by titan fitness! Titan Fitness is really stepping up their shipping. wish their welds would get better. its like they hand the welder to a 5yr old to weld all their products.
Please do one about strength shop having Trap bar 160 cm and 32.5 cm sleeves with grip diameter 30mm. weight of trap bar is (27 kg/60 lbs) and 400 kg/880 lbs loading capacity. It's coated to everyone's dismay though. But cost like 220 Euro. Looks very good. I agree on Trap bars should make a ring in the center like you see on Olympic bars.
Literally just got my Rogue TB2 yesterday. Even after seeing this review I'm very happy with my decision for the quality of my bar. Not gonna lie the $$$ savings would have been nice.
Use it as a landmine!? Niiice. I own this bar and I dig it. I keep a very slightly narrower stance then normal and it's fine for me for a rackable, affordable bar.
I have used this trap bar in my friends garage. I felt northern lights trap bar is better than this. It gives you wiggle room if you are a big dude (like Coop)
I deadlifted 1,000 lbs on a titan trap bar. it held up great EXCEPT after two months of deadlifting in the 8's and 9s for reps, then the 1,000...the sleeve was flattened some, making getting plates on nearly impossible on one side
There's a new budget-friendly open trap bar I purchased that'll blow you out of the water. Fitek open trap bar for $330 US. Only issue might be that they're from Australia and shipping costs would be rough
I own a regular hex trap bar and the Titan trap bar and I love them both along with my Deadlift bars and my hammer strength Deadlift machine because if you can’t deadlift there’s no reason to be alive isn’t that right Mr. Sigmarsson 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
Almost all of my equipment is Rogue. If it wasn’t for the shipping being $200 for the Rogue TB2 I’d be willing to drop the extra cash. In this case I just can’t justify paying double for the Rogue bar. Might have to pick one of these up.
Any chance you could revie the specialty bars offered by Gorila Fitness in Canada? Curious what you think of their equipment, especially their trap bars
I used two 2x4s and a couple of farmer carry barbells and made my closest approximation of what a trap bar is. How does it compare to the real thing? Don’t care. I use it infrequently compared to the straight barbell.
My monster light plateholders are also powder coated, I asked rogue why they would powder coat a plate hold when it was obvious it would mare the finish every time you would put a weight on and they gave me an answer like to cut cost but increase durability. I think all sleeves should be SS, and if price is an issue zinc oxide could be an option
I made a review of this trap bar as well on my channel. I bought it back when it was on sale a few months ago. It was definitely worth the money in my opinion. It was only around 200 plus shipping with the sale. Even without the sale it is still worth it.
Review the yes 4 all adjustable dumbbells on Amazon. Debating on forking over the money for some power blocks or going cheaper and using that saved money on an echo bike.
Speaking of hefty bars, interested in doing a comparison between non rackable curl bars to see if the beefier ones like rogue and rep are worth it over fringe/titan/archon/etc? I’ll bribe you with lunch from your favorite place to help your untruthful hips 😁
I've yet to receive a Titan Fitness product with welds that are perfectly lined. If something is supposed to be 90 degrees, it's always 100-145 degrees......
Titan says the weight capacity is 800 lbs but do you think the Titan trap bar can handle 900-1000 lbs? I have done a 900 deadlift on a Rogue trap bar...
