I'd also like to point out that you can walk into a friendly titan shield (the kind that is generated around every non-warpfall titan when called in) and let the shield damage kill the pilot on top of your titan.
Not even the ronin one was mentioned here: Use phase dash right when hes about to pull the battery and you want take damage. You can kill the pilot who stole your battery and get shields and 20% of your core for free. All of these tips are pretty noobish.
Hey quick note on the northstar cluster missiles tip, you can avoid taking damage by disembarking after you’ve shot the cluster missiles at a wall and turned around. So just shoot a wall, turn around and disembark, it’ll kill the pilot and your titan won’t take self damage from the cluster missile
1:) hop on a titan with low profile (obviously) 2:) get the battery 3:) book it. I don't care how, just book it. Don't hide. You'll only be trapping yourself and chances are that the titan you robbed isn't going to leave you alone until it gets its battery back.
another tip of your tone you can stand next to a wall and keep on shooting it until the splash damage kills him, note you will also tale damage from this
Similarly with the cluster missiles, scorch can do the same thing, shoot the wall and face your back towards it when someone is rodeoing you, had this done to me, I was very surprised
hey and whenever your decision is to get the death from above your titan is following protocol 3; protect pilot. and its the one who signed up for it to be sacrificed
the best way to stop them from taking your battery is a bit risky but basically. just get out of the titan as soon as you see that they start the rodeo. make sure your titan is always in guard mode so he stays still always. and then just the pilot on top of your titan in works great if you are not in fight and you want to preserve your electric smoke they are very vital if using Ronin for example.
For Northstars cluster you should disembark your Titan after you turn around, your Titan will take no damage from the cluster after disembarking if you do this.
6: if you have good aim with your titan, you can let them take the battery, then shoot them so they die. if you do it right you can get your battery back and a big boost in your core.
If you have the ricochet perk equipped for Ronan you can shoot at a wall in front of you just stlightly upwards and kill the pilot, basically a free kill
I don't really like the battery system. I liked when you shot the engine, but could hang on and shoot other things, too. If they gave you the option to take out the battery, that would be nice.
There should be a titan kit called AAA battery where the pilots are grossed out so they can't steal your battery, but it automatically drains health from you.
I wouldn't say the last way is an "easy kill" assuming the other pilot is competent they're more than likely to be just as ready as you are when you're both launched in the air. I've killed a fair number of rodeo pilots while ejecting, as well as killing ejected pilots when I was rodeoing them. It feels more like a quick draw as to who can kill each other first in the air, and the small amount of extra height the titan pilot gets doesn't make much of a difference.
3-cluster missiles was good because enemy die so fast 4-help out your team mates was stupid because 1.if you run to friendly titan and make him look at enemy try stealing your betray but he didn't notice you when friendly keeping shoot at enemy titan. it will make you angry or be mean say to them 2. friendly titan try shoot at enemy from steal betray when your friendly titan closer to you that was make you think he is stupid
Thats why you look up at the same time, added effect if you look up and have your back against a wall, the mechanics of the game will make it harder for the pilot to escape in time. As he will be stuck between wall and titan.
6. If your using ion, you can deploy trip wire behind you and turn around so the pilot jumps into them. 7. If you are using scorch, place a flame trap or flame wall behind you so so the pilot jumps into the flames. Both are tricky to pull off but do work sometimes times.
An og method that I used in TF1 was when they'd first begin to rodeo you you'd crouch and look down. it simulated the pilot leaving the titan like they were jumping out to shoot them then the person rodeoing would jump off. Doubt it would work it TF2 but it used to be super fun
I guess it might be a little different in pubbies then. Right now I'm at the level where some folk forget they even have smoke. I've seen folk enter Titans solo when the entire team is Titan'd.
All the perk does is remove the sound of the guy climbing... no one listens for that anyway. There's still a giant orange icon showing you're on their titan. I don't suggest ever using that perk unless you're desperate to get rid of your jet trails, because you use cloak or whatever weird reason. Otherwise it'll never help you vs decent players
actually it removes the noise AND makes it so there's a significant delay before the orange icon shows up for the enemy titan. as a result they have almost no time to react before you pull out the battery. plus compared to all the other perks in that slot it's the only one that really gives you an advantage, i use it on all of my loadouts
Hi Im Kayu Yeah we thought about that, but it seemed too wasteful to destroy the titan if it wasn't already in doom state. But that method is certainly possible
also if a pilot starts the rodeo, and you have no extra battery on you already let them take it just make sure you run to an open area where he cant hide once he is done taking it the proceed to kill the fucker and grab the battery he stole from you it will give you extra health .. very vital fro ronin users
if you time it right with a ronin you can phase shift as he's pulling it and it won't damage your titan. and you get a free battery when you kill him at no cost to you....just phase cooldown
6. By using ronin , you can use your phase ability to prevent your titan from taking damage (this Trick is based about the noises so if you Play without sound or that the ennemy Pilot has the Low profile kit, it's hard)
a good tip is that if you want to get revenge on a titan that had just made you eject from your doomed Titan if you have a Grappling hook you can grapple the ground or the enemy titan and instantly start to take his battery / attack him wit a anti titan weapon, so you don't have to waste time flying in the air. this is helpful if the enemy titan is trying to shoot you out of the air and you need to escape
If someone tries to get tricky and firestars your titan, they will probably die if they try to rodeo you. You can use this to take them out and avoid further damage by baiting them onto your titan. Alternatively, you can have a teammate/friend ride your titan, or (haven't tested this yet) have the friend try putting firestars, gravity stars, or satchel charges on your titan.

The problem is that usually they have already taken the battery out before you turn around and so it would be better to stayin the titan and kill them after wards.
I was trying to steal a battery when the enemy ejected, neither of us knew we both went into the air so he wasn't expecting me to be up there and I killed him easily xD Good to know that's why it happened!
You should've covered the use of Ronin's phase dash ability to counter battery stealing instead of talking about basic electric smoke. Any experienced (>G5.00) Ronin player knows how to use phase dash to allow the enemy pilot to steal a battery but while also dealing no damage to your Ronin. You can then steal the battery from the pilot and have even more health than before the rodeo. It's an advanced technique and hard to explain verbally, so I'm willing to share a couple of clips of me performing the technique in real games if anyone reaches out to me.
The best is just set your back on the space that pilot have dificults to fast ran away like open flat groud or place that u will easy to catch him. so if u just get the sound that he took batery fast turn to him dash and punch or shoot or wathever 99% chance if u do this in proper way :)
well, all of these require you to take damage anyway or know way before that you are getting rodeo. Besides getting your battery removed is not bad at all it gives you a shield. Here is what I do: 1. when a pilot gets on you find an open area, let them take the battery and as soon as they dismount turn around and punch them or if they are out of reach because of stim then shoot them. 2. when a pilot gets on you and you are at the edge of the map or a location where is out of bounds let the pilot land on there that way they have very little room to get away, now you have to be quick because they can just get right back on you or simply dash back to put distance and since they can't go forward and only towards you well guess who will die first. Your options are very valid I just thought I add my tactics. Nice video.
Wow these are actually some great tips, I hadn't even thought about 3 & 5. Also on 5 if you have the grappling hook and the enemy is airborne with you, can't you grapple to them and deliver a kick to their ugly mug? It might be risky since they could gun you down, but chances are they won't really expect it in the first place and it may catch them off guard.

Just today I was playing with Ion Prime but I was at very low health. My screen told me a pilot was not top of me and I was like “oh really” then I activated self destruct.
With the cluster missile u should get out of the Titan so damage isn't taken from ur own missile And if u wait till the last moment of rodeo look straight up with scorches thermal Sheild up and when they jump of they jump into the thermal Sheild and burn alive
You know with Northstar, if you get out of the titan, ur cluster missile doesn’t do dmg, but u need to disembark farther away from the cluster missile strike area or else u will go down with the pilot and ur titan is alone, and u can u the 40mm cannon with ton to take pilots out,
Here's one. If your ronin, now hear me out, go into an open-ish field and let them take your battery. As soon as they jump off. Turn around and charge them while swinging your sword witch covers more than the average melee. You will most likely kill them as they can not out run your titan and have no we're to go to hide. You will then get the same exact health you had when you retrieved the battery. (Including sheild.)
the problem is that with ronin and northstar. there both small and fragile. but the time it takes for a enemy to steal your battery when your in a northstar or ronin. the te it takes for a enemy to take a battery out of a northstar or ronin is that the enemy can rodeo a lot quicker onto a ronin or northstar as we're as all the other titans, it will take longer for the enemy to rodeo and steal your battery.
Jeff Boer I've already tested the timings with all Titans prior to making this video and it was approx 5-6 seconds for each Titan. So it isn't quicker to rodeo smaller titans. Because I was also curious on that matter when I was filming.
Surprised you didnt mention the ronin trick. Wait until right before the animation of stealing the battery to end, then phase shift and dash backwards. If you do it right, you'll phase shift into the enemy pilot and kill them, the phase shift will negate the battery stolen so you wont lose any health, and the enemy will still drop a battery so you just get a free battery.
I used the 5th every time when I was killing a titan a pilot came on me and I noticed what explode fly because the enemy will down not at you and then I killed them. I REALLY WANTED TO SEE THERE CRAZY REACTION😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Another tip for scorch: Go under somthing like a roof of some sort and shoot above you, if you have the Tempered Plating upgrade it won't do notin to ya, but Will kill the pilot with the Thermite Falling on em.
