Based on your comment and username, I'm guessing we have some things in common. This may seem like a dumb question, but it wasn't addressed at all in this video. Do you know, tech-wise, actually how to create a thumbnail? I only know how to record and upload, and that's it. I'm not great with technology. Thanks in advance. 🙏❤

I have written something and it is called the principia or principle for RU-vid video, okay so the title and thumbnail must not contradict, thumbnail is used to spark interest in your video and title is used to explain what is in the thumbnail and yes of course don’t lie, title are like the title of a chapter… get it? Not sure if you all will see this, however WE NEED to be able to pick our thumbnails from any point in a short video, like allowed on other social sites. It is a game changer as the three options are usually always terrible options!
Just give them your phone number and then you can make your own thumbnail from a screen shot of any point in your video adding text and anything else that might help.

Hello, thanks for the informative info, however, if thumbnails are so important, why did RU-vid remove the selection/upload feature for shorts? The Shorts Shelf is not the only place to display shorts. I also have a playlist of my shorts...but now I'm stuck with whatever clip RU-vid chooses to display for MY content. It's usually awful. We also should be able to upload a custom/formatted thumbnail with text and graphics if we choose...just like long form videos. If we're creators, let us control our content and our destiny.
Slažem se. Nedavno sam imao odličan video koji je mogao napraviti puno bolji uspjeh da sam imao mogućnost sam odrediti naslovnu sliku,jer u toj se je slici nalazila intriga. Međutim yt je uporno stavljao neku drugu,koliko god ja puta pokušavao skraćujući ili produžujući. Fali to što nemamo mogućnost birati naslovnu sliku. Ali s druge strane,yt uglavnom izabire dobre slike naslova,nekad čak i bolje nego što bi se ja sam sjetio. Tako da nije sve crno.

Now I have 32 subs from 19 and now that’s told me to persevere even more than before. So if you’re thinking of giving up, DONT, you’ll make it there.

I feel like the "conflict" style for the emotional impact type thumbnail is used too much. It makes sense, though. It reminds me of the article types newspapers use. They're a little different, but the core concept is the same: find what people react to, and display it loudly. I guess it's just human nature, but I'm exhausted by the outrage thumbnails. It makes me feel like I'm being manipulated and, to make it worse, the attempt takes a little out of me every time I see it. Wishing it wasn't a trend is pretty useless, I suppose.

Good informative video about the thumbnails, but if you aren´t a big youtuber with lots of viewers there are lots that are missing. For example if I want to see which days and times my viewers are watching it says "Insufficient display data to display the report" even if there are people watching it, i think it should be able to show at least those numbers of viewers thats been there even if they are low, so I can post when they are mostly online. So there is a real glitch between being really small and those who are really big that get much more clarity.
Actually RU-vid suggest you a lot to improve your content and as well to reach wider audience. As your followers as well as views increase you get more features. At subscribers count of 125 I got community post access as well as viewers active time. And soon I got to customise my channel link.
