the end is the epitome of sing-alongs to me. not just because it kicks ass musically, but for the message i get. the end of this song is like a battle cry - we can all join together and share our mutual misery, fight and yell along to this mantra like soldiers on the frontline. but when the music dies down as the battle has been lost and we still feel like losers, Patrick assures us "that's okay." we can accept ourselves for the losers we are and take comfort knowing so many others feel the same

As someone who lived in New Jersey, I love this song.

I have a lot of respect for ppl from NJ. I’m from baltimore and I know what it feels like for people to just trash you and where you’re from without ever having met you or been there.

I talked to patrick two nights ago when he played at my home town, and when he was talking he mentioned the line "There is a faceplate all brown and red that stretches across my mouth It's worn for protection, nobody gets in and nobody gets out I used to look myself in the mirror at the end of every day But I took the one thing that made me beautiful and threw it away" He said it was about his beard that he grew out because he hated his face, and do to his certain disorders thought he looked ugly, and grew his beard out as a result.

This Album (The Monitor) is a concept album with a kind of arch following Ken Burns nine episode documentary, "Civil War". Raw. Brilliant!!

When I feel down I just love listening to the end of the song and chanting with them. Never fails to make me feel better.

This is (counterintuitively) a really good song for the gym. While stickles is just screaming at you that “you will always be a loser,” I promise you, you will not skip that last rep, or get off the treadmill early, or any other form of quitting.

This is my favorite Titus Andronicus song. I'm glad Scharpling provided an excellent video to go along with the tune.

"Now there's a robot that lives in my brain, and he tells me what to do" doesn't mean you have to surrender your humanity, or what makes you you! You HAVE to to take care of yourself first, and the more you can do that on auto-pilot, the better. Then you can worry about the real issues; you'll always be a loser - but that's okay. I wish I could like this song a thousand times, it's been a real help the last weeks.

I have lived in New Jersey for all 17 years, 7 months, and 29 days of my life. This is such an accurate video. It's cold. It's dreary. There are trees everywhere. Every person you meat is a dick. However, whenever I visit any other state, I miss New Jersey despite the fact that it's a shithole. I go to house shows in my friend's basement to see local bands play and it feels like it's our little shithole, and we're damn proud of it.

I saw them at 80 35 they put on one of the best shows of the festival. this song makes me think of how iowa and des moines always gets shit on aswell people think we eat corn shoot guns and have no electricity but we have a beautiful city i think the best music scene in the country and the most talented bands that noone knows about and i know no one cares what i put on this comment and des moines will always be a loser in your minds but it is musical heaven to me and all of us.

wow after watching this video i really feel like i know what New Jersey's really all about

There's nothing in the world like Jersey punk. I knew this dude who was a guy in the New York punk scene in the 1970s, one of those burned-out hasbeen who had a lot happen to them but not a lot to say about it. He'd open for the Talking Heads and play CBCGs and was friends with The Ramones. We both were tour-guides on those double decker buses in Time's Square and most of our days were standing in the middle of the sidewalk and talking about nothing. I love punk, I love what punk used to be and I love what punk is now and I'd pick his brains about the early years of punk. One thing I wondered was that - over in Jersey - you had Bruce Springsteen happening at the exact same time as punk. I thought that was fascinating, where you have two forms of music written in the shadow of the deindustrialization of America...happening within miles of each other but they sounded nothing alike. I asked him if Springsteen ever crossed the river and came into New York and played venues when he was coming up, and my co-worker thought for a second and said "You know, I don't think we knew about him until everybody knew about him." Cut to today, where I strongly feel that punk left New York and settled into New Jersey, and it somehow finally you have this punk that's a little bit Springsteen while also still staying punk at the same time. Bands like Titus exemplify that Jersey punk aesthetic.

I hate this state so much but this video makes me pretty proud to be living in it.

Oh, and New Jersey has some really beautiful parts. All states have armpits and beauty in different parts. I blame NYC for using NJ as its dumping ground and urban commuter sprawl.

Good because I'm sure it's nothing like the picture you have in your head. Most people who've never been here have such a distorted understanding of what New Jersey. In fact, it has a vibe much like California, at least along the coastline and is one of the most under-appreciated states in the country which is odd because we are also one of the coolest and most beautiful states. asburyanchor dotcom is a good representation of the real New Jersey, not that bullshit you see on MTV.
