Internationally, west African music is having its moment. Afrobeats has had over 13 billion streams on Spotify in the last year, with Madonna and Ed Sheeran even borrowing from the hottest sound on the planet. We’re joined by its female pioneer, aka ‘The Queen of Afrobeats,’ who became the first Nigerian artist to appear at a royal show after performing at the King’s Coronation. Today sees King Charles III’s second Coronation and Tiwa’s here to tell us about her new single and taking her music to Windsor, Wembley, and across the world, and working with everyone from George Michael to Sam Smith and Beyonce! She also met the Queen Consort at Buckingham Palace, as her philanthropy focuses on youth engagement organisations and breast cancer screening programmes in Nigeria.

@danielallen2991 She didn't mean it the way you think , She is an astute student of the craft having studied music at Berklee College of Music. She served as backup to artists like Mary J. Blige, Chaka Khan, Blu Cantrell, Emma Bunton, Kelly Clarkson, Andrea Bocelli and Ms. Dynamite. So she knows what she is talking about , I will elucidate the full circle statement R&B is an offshoot of Jazz and Blues . Jazz itself uses tresillo's . Tresillo is the most basic duple-pulse rhythmic cell in Sub-Saharan African music traditions, So R&B , hip-hop , rock where all created by African Americans . Same way Reggaeton lends from Reggae and Reggae while created in Jamaica is heavily African influenced. Finally Afrobeat(s) itself lends heavily from Jazz, R&B, hip-hop, Dancehall, Reggae etc. If that is not full circled i don't know what is.

Where did the black people in the Caribbean and America (and their ancestors) originate from or were they indigenous or natives of those lands? Could they have taken their instruments, dance etc with them even though they lost their names and identity. If you know African/black history you wouldn’t have said what you said.
