Most African Americans like living in America but just don't like the way they are being treated. Relocating to another country cost money, more money than people are willing to admit.

The Real Reasons: 1) Years of Propoganda painting Africa as the least desirable place to visit in the world. 2) 64% of Americans have never left the country. 3) Most Americans do not have 2 weeks of paid vacation, if any to travel long distances. 4) Travel to Africa is made intentionally difficult, with multiple flight transfers and flights commonly exceeding 1k even out of major cities (NYC, etc..) 5) The Hope Factor of upward mobility by dangling successful back celebrities in front of you (Jay, Puff, Barack, Kamala) that are few and far in between 6) The feeling that America owes you for your investment and leaving would be giving up. 7) Debt- Most Black Americans live in insurmountable debt that stalls relocations. 8) Ridicule from friends and family that you are crazy or giving up on the struggle 9) Individualism- Black people will never get it together," but I'm straight" 10) Stockholm Syndrome- A person who has been Kidnapped Falling in love with their captors. Why is this such a big discussion? We don't go there for the same reason that a LOT of them want to and do immigrate here. If you are rich here then of course you can go there and be just as or more rich. If you are poor here you will go there and be just as or more poor. Our ghettos have nothing on theirs. Poor in America is a hell of a lot different than poor in other places.

It's sad to me that some people in these comments refuse to even think they're African. Why is it so hard to accept that being African and being descendants of Africans is good? Honestly, with the history of the country and current state. A mass exodus would be very appropriate.

I think that’s one of the easiest and best explanation why. A lot of us don’t have the money to even fly over there much less move. And I think those commercials in the 80 and 90s trying to get Americans to donate money. Showed the continent of africa in the worst light to get money, and hasn’t been as much to combat that image. I think also a small possibility is that each country in Africa is in such different situations economically and politically that might scare some people off.

A lot of the brothers and sisters who refuse to consider going to Africa don't even have a passport. Once you have a passport and leave the US, your life is never the same.

#1 reason I can think of: I wasn't born there so there is no going "Back". On top of that, for better or worse, I am western born so a lot of cultural differences would probably make me come back.

Africa might be the birthplace of our ancestors but most of us don’t consider it a “home” for us, I’m sure it’s beautiful and I would love to visit but why should I leave what I know for a place that I don’t know. Why would you move to a country that you have no connection to? You got to remember Akon grew up in Senegal 🇸🇳. Most black people here grew up here. Have their entire lives and families here it would be very hard to uproot that. Money also plays a factor.

It's not only money is the same reason people don't move to other states. When you don't have friends and family around you it makes things a lot harder. Save your kid gets sick and you need someone to pick him up or watch him on the spot you move to another state where there's not many people you know level in another country you get the point.

Black Americans are not traveling to go back to no damn Africa which is 8,766 miles from the United States that is one way not even a round trip. Most blacks don't even tour the United States, Africa please. That place lacks so many resources its unreal, natural resources its wealthy beyond measure, but careers and finding employment yeah right. Where 422 Million people live below the global poverty line. Africa represents 70% percent of the worlds poorest people. I think I will keep myself in America.
