Thrifty Kaniffy's Random Ramblings -A Buck 110 Folding Hunter & Buck 371 Stockman at Great Prices -The Walmart In Store Buying Experience Did you know you can buy a Buck 110 with leather sheath for $35 USD? #ThriftyKaniffy
That price for the 110 was the standard at Walmart for awhile. Lucky you still found it for that. All the ones near me in NH doubled the price up to $70.
The Buck 110 from Walmart has a WM in the stamp. My little research found that it is no different than other B110s. Same materials and same build location. The stamp prevents up pricing if you know to look. Good summary of Wally World.
Walmart do have some good knife prices congrats on those two you earned them in time lost lol....Walmart also have some exclusive knives like the buck 110 lt the light version the buck logo on the handle is only available through walmart it is a much nicer logo than on the standard 110 lt's and again cheaper i paid $20 i bought 3 of them,,,but i do die a little everytime i visit my walmart i always seem to have to wait around an awful long time to be served...
The knife case at my WalMart is a mess. It is abiout 1/3 full and all the knives are in the wrong slots, plus there is no one around to help. You beat their system! Thanks T.K.
Good tip, TK! I had a friend visiting the States buy a 110 and Canoe for me last month; she bought them online from Walmart since it was free delivery. 35 for the 110 and 11 for the canoe, sweet! That has got to be the best deal for a USA made knife that I know.
I think you might want to consider contacting Buck and see if you could send them your older 110 to have a new blade put in it. I don't think it's a free service, but I also don't think it costs very much. Could be worth checking into. Cheers, buddy.
I had almost the same experience at the watch counter recently, it took me almost an hour to get someone to open the case for me. I bought that same Stockman online from WM last year, but it was $20. Mine was boxed. I also recently bought the 110 at the price you paid, shocking! Both knives are absolutely perfect, as far as I can see.
I’ve been told at my local Wally World more than once that “We don’t do online price matching in store” so I’m not sure what their official policy is exactly. I’ve skirted it by standing there and just ordering it for pick up and coming back and getting it later. Kind of stupid. I looked at a few 371’s and canoes there that were just terrible. Not only were the blades like a butter knife but the pull was maybe a 2 on all of them. I’m not biased toward country of origin at all, but that put me off Chinese Bucks for good, especially considering what RR puts out in that price range.
Was curious having read this. The 371 seems ok in this regard. I would not say a heavy pull but nothing unordinarily bad. The blades do need a little work.
@@ThriftyKaniffy The ones I checked out at WM were boxed versions and after checking three of them I decided to pass. I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of J2 steel to begin with but thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt, but the fit and finish was so bad it completely sunk it for me.
Very interesting experience. I don’t know of a store like Walmart in the UK however in the Midlands we have a store called Wilkinsons who are similar but dont have knives or Guns, anyway I know a store manager who told me that they often discount stock but don’t advertise it and you only find out about the discount at the checkout. She said this was to stop staff getting all the discounts before shoppers are aware of them 🤔. I always shop around before I let my pound notes go, although only online. Take care brother 👍
Thanks for sharing Toad. Sounds like a situation we have here in many types of stores, particularly with collectibles where you go to find things and they never even make the shelves. People have been fired for such activities, but it continues to happen particularly when it's the higher ups doing it.
@@ThriftyKaniffy I’ve heard of staff that damage packaging so the product is taken off the shelves then wait for a clear out of the warehouse and with a price reduction for the damage and staff discount get the item for pennies 🤫. There is a stink over here over Amazon dumping stock just because a new range has been released 🤯. The things us mere mortals aren’t aware of 🤫. Take care bud 👍.
Why don’t you send your old 110 to Buck for the spa treatment? They’ll take care of that old blade and make it look like new for $10, at least that’s what the last one I sent in cost me. Great part of their 4Ever Warrantee. That price from Walmart on the 110 has been that price for a very long time. Got mine there two or three years ago for that price.
Walmart is notorious for placing things on the shelf in the wrong spot under the wrong price take a photo before you go pay for it and they have to honor you that price But usually they will only honor you one
Just yesterday I was at my local Walmart and the Christmas display of knives were marked $38 I swore there were 15 Just a week and a 1/2 prior I bought one of them I took one up to the counter in sporting goods and had them scan it came up $15 I took one up to the counter in sporting goods and had them scan it came up $15 I pointed at the display and Commented you're not gonna sell many like thatBut sometimes the pricing
Discard that Comment my phone's a mess when I go to view it I have to re edit it because it repeats things Somehow it got sent So the $15 knives were marked at $38 There are times where the pricing's lofor the pricing's lower than the actual price and and then I'll honor that to you
@@mathewgoebel4078 No worries Matthew I understood. Walmart is a mess, i find myself shopping there less and less. When I see all the checkouts not being manned and the employees standing around chatting with one another and the disgust on their face in general and particularly when you ask something of them, I'd rather be shopping from my recliner.
That’s funny my Walmart is the same exact way!!!!! And when I find someone they can never find the key!!!!! I go nuts I say every time I want something out of this case it’s a nightmare!!!!! Omg I know what your going through and they never restock anything it’s the same stuff thrown all around in the case!!!!!!! Thank god they never have anything I really want!!!!!
It’s not so much finding a person I grab anyone even if there not in that department……. The problem is finding that special person with the key and normally it’s the manager then they have to find the big guy!!!!!!
It's true that happened to me on sep/24/21, the buck knife 371 was $19 and cents. I wait for the lady with the key (15 min) and she gives me the knife and I go to self checkout and I ask and the lady who stays in self checkout match the price on Walmart app $13.29, plus tax 1.10, total I pay $14.39 for the beautiful knife.
Being born the same year the Buck 110 was introduced, and after watching this video, I just ordered from Walmart my first 110 for a few pennies over $38.00 including tax and shipping. I figure the way everything is going up in price these days, I better grab it now. By the way, my local Walmart in-store price is over $48.00 before tax.
I get that, but I look at this experience as a challenge to partake in. I walked in to it and away from it with a positive attitude. Control what you can control and let the rest slide off your back. Thanks Rick.
Wallyworld used to own one of the major supermarket chains in the UK but even the biggest stores weren't that big. The UK Buck site has the occasional good deal but I've never seen a 110 for around £35 there, good find!
I agree, when you go to the Walmart and you want to buy a knife. You have to do some work and being PATIENT is key lol. I live in ky and every Walmart I've been too has matched up to your story lol. And the old buck you've shown.. talk to the folks at the buck customer service center about it and see if they will help you with that blade. They have a " forever warranty", see if they will honor that.
Man I wish I could find a 110 for that price my Walmart sells them for near $70 I got mine off of Amazon for $50 when it was on prime day few years ago
Oh yeah definitely no fun shopping at Walmart but getting the Buck 110 for $34 bucks definitely worth the wait also a great deal on the stockman looking forward to the show on that piece..👍
Thank you TK, a great interesting story, your patience paid off well, as you got two great deals, fair play for Wallmart to give you the online price for the Buck knife, looking forward to the reviews. Just on a side note, I received the RR Denim Barlow yesterday, really pleased a great knife just like in your photo slide show description, in your review recently, thank you again for your recommendation, I will add a quick comment on the original review as well. Take care Sam
This is an interesting story to know and a great price for an American made iconic pocket knife. Most people would not have the patients to go to all the time it took to buy two pocket knives as you did. The question is; how they sell this knife so much less than other knife retailers do. Then the question is; is there that much difference in the cost of making a self-opening knife from this one? $35 to $180 dollars is a big difference in prices. So; you are paying more than double the price for a knife that uses the same frame, blade and handle material for one with a button and spring that opens the knife. That is for ones costing $60 dollar not the $35 dollars yours cost. ❔🙄❔
Thanks Gizmo. Probably comes down to products of scale. The more you make the cheaper you can offer them. I'm sure Walmart had to buy loads of knives to be able to sell them at that price. Wouldn't be surprised if they only manufacture 1/200th the number autos.
Congratulations on a good buy. It looks like buying a knife in Wallmart is like everything in life; you have to get in touch with the key people, who can get you further in life. Hey you can allways use the old beater 110 as a hammer! Somebody already did and it may work too. That Stockman is looking awesome too. Thank you for the story.
