I’ve watched this tutorial for more than 3 times, plus some practical works, now I can finally understand and do some suspension & dampers changes for specific curbs and tracks, not mastered but definitely a great process that moving forward from a setup rookie, very useful tutorial of this series. Actually I’m looking forward more streams by U😄, even it’s not about the tutorial. PS: Aris and the whole team make the ACC better, and ACC has literally turned me into a true GT3 super geek, not only about driving a sim GT3 or watching the Blancpain GT, also I’d love to spend a couple of hours to talk about the magic behind a wheel with people in same interests now. It is just amazing as a sim on multiple levels👍👍👍

Yeah this is only the second time I've heard of Anti dive referring to the Mercedes so I've got work to do testing as I'm preparing to use the Mercedes for a league

Yes, Aris does a great job explaining these things. The man speaks at least 2 languages plus his knowledge on setting up these cars can apply to real life. This is a very smart man.

hello aris, I'm watching all your live and your videos to try to understand something more about the setups of the machines to be able to drive them at their best, and I take this opportunity to thank you because finally someone took charge of this great responsibility and decided to do it once and for all :) I wanted to ask you two questions which unfortunately perhaps for the language or my brain I cannot understand in any way, one and the use of the dumbstoprate I cannot understand what they are used for and what effect they have I only understood that the front must be the as close as possible to the spring but the back? and then if you could explain the differential because in some games there is both the braking and the accelerating ones and I do not understand the use of this in the race racing set-up can you help me?

I think you might find helpful to read our forums official articles about it. It should be more clear and easier to translate. Learn about bumpstops here: www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/bumpstop-telemetry-in-the-setup-screen.52138/ and learn about aerodynamic balance and instability because of pitch, here: www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/aero-i-believe-i-can-fly….50787/ I'll try to explain better the differential in future videos. A small note about it: In ACC there is braking and accelerating values of differential lock, but they are locked and not possible to change for each car. Homologation rules do not permit to change those values. You can change preload, that adjust a little bit the differential at the initial response.

Great video as usual. I love you are breaking up the video in small digestible parts. You said "I could use a tiny bit more of front grip" and then lowered brake bias to 57%, can you please explain the logic? Thanks a lot!

Sure, as we discussed on the "how tyre generate grip" a tyre can't do both jobs equally well (lateral and longitudinal grip, braking and turning). So if you want more from one, you need to give in a bit from the other. In that particular situation I wanted to have some more lateral during turn in. So by moving brake bias a bit backwards I release the tyre a bit of my braking request (when I'm trailbraking) and this gives me a bit extra lateral grip that puts the nose in. Also the fact that the rear brakes a bit more now, helps with the rotation (for the same reasons as above but on the contrary effects)

Last day I jumped for the first time on the McLaren 720s and did 1.54.5 on lap 3 with the aggressive setup. There is a problem ; considering I'm pretty fast usually and is not an error of my driving ......probably; after the Schumacher "chicane" there is the 90 degree left turn , the problem here happens when I release the brake before turning ( even tried trail braking or turning with half brake ), the car completely loses rear grip and I have to counter steer , or I cannot get on the throttle. This is the only place in the whole track I'm having issue with;I tried moving the brake balance from front to rear ( the car start at 58 %)but I had understeer and often losing time in 3-4 turns . Is not a big problem that left turn I can manage the exit pretty well . I want you to ask if u can tale a look at the aggressive setup and tell me why shes doing it . If you need I can upload a video recreating the same issue. Thanks for the videos ! Grazie per I video !

That is a very very typical handling situation on that turn. Now obviously if you don't have any issues elsewhere in the track, the first advice is to drive differently. Brake a tiny bit earlier and go costing in the turn, sooner than you would, don't stay on the brakes too much. In terms of setup, check your pressures when you arrive at the turn. I bet that you arrive with the rear right tyre with much less than ideal pressure than the others. You could tweak the rear right pressure so that you arrive on that turn with the correct pressure. So extra positive toe at the rear might also help you. Try and let us know

@@ArisDrives i try to change the way to approach that turn it may take a while maybe 3-4 laps and then ,I'll take a look tomorrow at my Rear pressure .and TOE angle. Thanks for the advice. :)

If all real cars ride on the bumpstop(apart form the merc), why would I ever move it up, i was thinking of putting a click or 2 up on the front of the gtr, should I decrease the rate instead?

As small as possible to the front (and it depends). As high as possible to the rear. I don't remember the video, I should rewatch and see if I said something wrongly while talking. Mainly you want the rear bumpstops high enough (big gap) to absorb better kerbs, bumps and so on and have better traction so that the TC doesn't interfere. Sometimes you need some rear bumpstops to make the car less understeery at high speeds but just enough to not touch them at low speeds and maintain traction.

You usually don't want to have the rear on the bumpstops as it makes traction much worse over bumps and kerbs. There are situations where you might want to ride some bumpstops at the rear too, but it's rare. Think of bump stops as squishing an eraser with your fingers. Bump stops are such kind of squishy material at the end of the spring. U see springs r hard objects which can only compress to a certain length (aka bottoming out), so once u bottom out a spring (fully compressed) it doesn't absorb shocks anymore, you're gonna feel a sudden jolt from underneath. It will also send the car up in the air. Bump stops mitigate that, it acts like a second layer of spring. But unlike a spring it's compression is not linear (the more u squish the BS the harder it becomes to squish it further). That's my understanding of BS
