If you come to TMC, and you still have education benefits, you can sign up for the Apprenticeship Program, and you’ll get BAH monthly. If you’d like, text me your Name, Email, and Phone # to (484) 860-1309, and I’ll send it to recruiting so they can contact you. Have a great week.
Aspiring trucker here. I live in a mile long town (literally, the town is one square mile) making $460 a week as a cook. I don't know what company to start with, but i can't afford CDL schooling out of my own pocket. I'm looking at CFI and TMC. I'm on the fence about being OTR or Regional. As long as I can bring home more than $460 a week after taxes, I'll be happy. Thank you for the video!
You’ll definitely bring home more than $460 a week. You can come to TMC, and they will Help you get your CDL if you can’t afford to go to school on your own. Best of luck to you. 🤗
Sir , go to your States, unemployment office, and they should have a program, to pay for your, CDL training, or you can get a loan, and go to an accredited school, your State, should have a program, and there are some good schools, that will help you with financial assistance, 500 dollars down, minimum.... If you're going into Trucking, get your, get all your endorsements first and tanker endorsement too...
From TMC’s website: “Our program is recognized as one of the best. TMC's Class A driver training is one of the few on-the-job truck driver training programs in the country - approved by the Department of Labor as a certified Heavy Truck Driver Apprenticeship program.” So I’m not sure what you mean by “Accredited” or “Good School.” They’re an approved, and credited by the Department of Labor. What would have been beneficial in these comments is that if you attend TMC’s CDL School, there is a contract you’ll sign to work for them for one or two years. A recruiter can answer that. Thanks for your input.
@@voyagerpagoda3314 I agree I would get my CDL with TMC, they literally PAY YOU while you're learning, I went to a regular truck school it sucked, the owner and his wife were scumbags, they only had two trucks and three driving instructors for 20-30 students, only two of the driving instructors were nice, the other was the WORST type of person to be around or learn from, the type that yells and complains about everything constantly so much that you constantly mess up due to being frustrated, stressed and aggravated, I told him "I can't have you instruct me, I don't learn like that, you're yelling all the time about everything I need another instructor." Their trucks broke down and among other things it ended up taking me 3 damn months to get my CDL!!!! If you go to a school you pay $4500k if you manage to get it for free (living in a certain city) then you are still going to truck school FULL TIME until you graduate which means you aren't getting paid at all so good luck with bills for 2-3 months!!! The requirements are even harder now than they were when I was in because now you must do all backing maneuvers in both directions for the test instead of one. TMC is a REALLY good starter company, home weekends, percentage pay, paid CDL training for about the same as a trucking school, mine was $4000 then after endorsements it was $4500. Not to mention TMC has way more trucks, trainers and a massive state of the art facility with new trucks, you literally CANNOT BEAT IT, I guarantee people that get their CDL from TMC are far better than 99% of trucking schools out there. Not to mention the contract for getting your CDL is no big deal, TMC charges $4k if you leave immediately after getting your CDL, if you stayed for 6 months you'd have way more than enough to pay the remainder of the original $4k off since a percentage of your earnings go toward that repayment monthly. I didn't want to be long winded about this but if I could go back I would absolutely just get my CDL from TMC, it would have saved a lot of time and money on top of being way better trained.
Whichever one you picked I hope you chose TMC, I was bait and switched by Melton, the recruiter said I could get Regional home weekends when I graduated then when I got to the school in a completely different State the instructor said only the best or most experienced drivers get selected for Regional. If you don't mind 2-3 weeks out before a home reset go with Melton, if home time is important to you TMC is your only option for flatbed.
As a company driver, my Fleet Manager along with the Planner will look for loads to dispatch me to. From my experience so far, loads are better in the Central North-North East. Another factor is if you stay out 2-3 weeks or more vice going home every week. You get allot more revenue if you stay out. You have to decide what’s best for you, and your family. Hope that helps.
Great video, very straight forward and to the point. New upcoming driver looking into joining TMC. If you don't mind me asking, what pay percentile are you currently at? (if you you're still driving for TMC) thanks again
There are two reasons for having a passport. First is because of the extra points you receive on your SNAP. I discuss this in detail at 17:50 "Endorsements." Next, If you decide you want to join the Boat Division, they are the Division that goes into Canada. Hope that helps. Thanks for your question.
Trucks only have bunk heaters for the winter. No A/C auxiliary. You can idle but you don’t want to over do it. What I do is close the curtains, and put the A/C in the back full blast while you’re driving. That way it’s cold when you go back there. If you get hot at night, I recommend turning on the truck for about 45-hour, then turn it off. That was a great question.
@@voyagerpagoda3314 that sucks nice trucks they would make there driver alot happier if they added a battery pack apu parksmart is what's on the Freightliners
@@voyagerpagoda3314 why is it you dont want to just idle the truck? Ive been in a truck and it gets hot quick enough that turning it on and off can become a pai
@jeffreyulery2182 I do idle but very little. I close the curtains in the back while I’m driving, and leave the A/C on full blast back there. When I’m done at night, it’s cool. If it gets hot, I turn on the truck for about 15-30 minutes, and shut in down. If you idle your truck (I believe but don’t quote me) 50% or more, you’re going to get a phone call about it. On the other hand, TMC has new Petes that won’t allow you to idle. They shut down on their own after several minutes.
@voyagerpagoda3314 I guess you and I just have 2 different thresholds for hot. From my experience, unless it's winter, it's going to get stuffy or hot way to quick for me to not have an apu or idle management that turns on and off on its own. There is no way I would get in a truck without one of those or the ability to just idle 24/7. If a carrier can't provide that minimal level of comfort for a driver, then it isn't a relationship I'd like to participate in. Some carriers will turn off the feature that shuts your truck off if you have a pet...how is a pet deserving and not a driver?
Gross. I did this because everyone’s situation is different. You know better about your own state, county, what eva about how much they take out in taxes. What are your family needs. It’s like budgeting. Hope that helps. Thank you for your support.
I know several companies that do but some of those good ones require 5 years experience. Some don’t. I like OTR or Regional. I don’t want to be local. I love driving long distances. 🤗
15 yrs ago i drove for TMC. I liked the company and the 389 pete, i didnt like how they would lowball the miles to the shipper and when your OOR went up they would lower your pay, or directions were sketchy and OOR would occur because of it, they lower your pay. Distance cannot be "as the crow flies" You are an 80,000lb truactor trailer, not a bird.
When you mean lower your pay, you’re talking about percentage, correct? What we’re doing now is on the last Thursday of the month, you give your FM all your OOR with the PRO #s for each. He/She will adjust it. This is why as of this moment, my last two weeks on my SNAP is showing 1.2% OOR, and I’m at 33% for pay. Love talking to former TMC drivers. Thanks for sharing.
It is not necessary but if you want the extra points to help go up in percentage, it’s good that you have it along with TWIC, and Hazmat endorsement. Passport is worth 4 points, TWIC, and Hazmat is worth 2 points.
No. It is before taxes. I don’t display after taxes because everyone’s situation is different. I pay extra for a traffic lawyer that TMC provides. Others choose not to. Pennsylvania has property taxes whereas Florida does not. Thanks for the question.
@@voyagerpagoda3314 That is misleading. The chart says---- Check Date........Amount Normally the amount of the check is the amount you take home after deductions.
When I was a school bus driver, I was making $13 an hour, City Bus Driver $670 a week. I think I’m making allot more than before. I could’ve also went with another trucking company that pays about $5000 a week, but no benefits; no medical, vision, dental, paid vacation, etc. I’m happy where I’m at.
Thanks. I appreciate it. I didn’t take it as negative because not too many are well informed. People are gonna tell you they make more money but at a cost. They have to do their own taxes, no medical benefits, no ESOP, etc. If they’re Owner Operators they have overhead costs as well. I’m happy where I’m at. 🤗
TMC management and trainers are garbage. Had different instructors teach the same thing and conflict each other. When confronted they say your the problem. Garbage facilities and management. Turn over is extremely high for a reason!! If you want to be treated as trash go to TMC. Des Moines terminal
You, and I see very different then. My experience has been very different or at least the opposite of yours. With that said, I’ve come to realize that there is no perfect job. You’ll always encounter schmucks everywhere. Have I met people at TMC that rubbed me the wrong way? Yes. I’m I gonna let that affect me? No. Anywhere you go you’ll ALWAYS deal with such people. As far as the facilities, what about them specifically because from my experience, they all are taken care of. I love the hotel in DM, and all the facilities there including the upgraded Chrome Cadé with a brand new drivers lounge. If you currently work for TMC or not, please don’t treat others that way. You be the difference, set the right example. I remain positive regardless. It’s all I do in an imperfect world. Good luck to you.
@@voyagerpagoda3314 once again, turn over rate is extremely high for a reason. If your used to and except dealing with trash that’s on you big dog. I refuse to deal with morons that think they are important.
