Yall. I’m teerrrrrrrrified of rats. Clearly I respect all animals. I’ve been a vegetarian for over THIRTY years. And I understand the irony, considering beans has an uncanny resemblance. It was just for comedic effect and I didnt mean any disrespect. I acknowledge how it would sound to someone who doesn’t have a massive phobia and apologize. No harm to any creatures! That said, please do not bring your pet rat to a meet and greet as someone did one time, and I still have nightmares. ❤

You talking about driving past boys houses to see if their car was there just brought back so many memories. I’m the same age as you and my friends and I did this all the time. We turned it into a game of who could leave a note without getting caught 🤦🏼♀️
aw man i had a pet rat (i was FREAKED at rodents but my moms friend was going to rehab and getting sober and her rat needed a new home) and it was such a good pet. like i didn’t know rats were so sweet and lovable. and losing a pet is hard. when my rat died i cried for days, it was such a good friend to me. i was used to doing my homework with my lil rat cuddled in my hoodie somewhere. i miss her still!! let’s respect peoples pets!
as a former waldorf kid i was not expecting to hear about it on this podcast. I'm very grateful to my time in a waldorf school, mostly bc when i went there parents were encouraged to not let kids watch TV or be online too much and i feel like thats the only reason my screen time is so low and being on a screen gives me a headache if i spend more than an hpour and a half on it
I think Waldorf and similar methods are amazing and the best for child development but I think the issue comes in the class divide, like having to be financially well off typically to have ur kid go to one of those schools when in principal it should be like the cheapest you’d think?
@@mayakabir2270 I completely understand! In my country, it’s actually one of the more cheaper schools to go to, but because I live in an Asian country and education is extremely competitive here and waldorf schools aren’t so heavily result oriented, parents don’t prefer sending kids here! But I know in Europe it’s a lot more equalised and that people from various economic backgrounds go to those schools!
I relate with Grace regarding Mambo number 5 cause my name isn't featured either. What's worse is my older sister Angela would brag that her name is included and would play it over and over ugh
I live in Panama City FL, graduated high school with your father, Mamrie. PCBeach was the spring break capital of the world for decades, until the crowds got unruly and destructive. The world’s largest nightclub (it was fun!), Club LaVela, is gone from PCB too. Sad. Possums are good critters to have around, we feed the ones that visit our back yard every night. Suggestion for BarFlies book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Stay sweet and take care ♎️☮️
Daytona Beach area resident, spent 4 years at UF in Gainesville, have been in Veterinary Medicine for 10 years.... I laughed so hard and agree with all the things. Too good 🤣
My cousins gremlins go to a public charter school (I also used to Sub there) that is nature based as well. They get waders and slickers for rainy muddy days but have to provide snow clothes. But yeah they do a lot of the day outdoors.
The rat convo actually reminded me of the movie Flowers for Algernon. Great movie really makes you think about how you treat people and also how someone could be attached to a rat. So a smidge sad but also thought provoking.
So I saw this trend on TikTok. It's in Toronto someplace about pasta with 3 different sauces. The pesto, the marinara sauce and the Alfredo sauce all mixed together in a bowl.🍝
Grace wanting to do the “SHE GOT IT. *clap* STOP IT.” to the kid is such an accurate representation of parenting some days. I was like “oh God I’ve done that clap” 😂😂😂
excited to finally join the patreon!! I’ve been wanting to read the idea of you and my birthday is 4/20 😂 so it feels like fate to finally get in on it!
jackie and shadow have not lost their eggs to ravens this year. last year yes and i’m sure at some point this year they will. but no they’re going strong on that nest!
I get how it could come across that way to people who don't know her or her content, but ik she didn't mean anything by it (her apology speaks for her lol)
Yes I felt the same way originally but I think also that what they were laughing at in that moment was less at the fact that a bunch of ppl could be crying over a rat and more just the ridiculousness of the imagery of Elliot being around a whole sobbing family over a tiny animal. I love rats too and my entire family was there in the room for my cats euthanasia, I don’t think they’re making fun of the fam just how wild a situation that sounds like. Being a vet tech is truly wild 😭😭😭
I love rats, a lot of people think im nuts, but i think they're so cute & sweet ! I'd love to have one, but my cat wouldn't like that lol & i wouldn't want to risk my cat getting to them Btw some schools are insane with the stuff they offer, my high school barely had working, sanitary bathrooms half the time let alone hand warmers 😂
I read an article today about a guy who went to Disney World for 5 days for spring break with his family and how it was the worst. I was just thinking, why in the world would you ever do that? That's truly insane.
Stingray shortcut (40:57): You know the Parthenon in Athens? It’s named after Athena, the virgin goddess, because “parthenos” means “virgin”. So parthenogenesis -> “virgin” + “creation/birth”, -> “asexual reproduction”.
3 Body Problem... PLEASE TALK ABOUT IT!!! I binge watched it, I couldn't stop and when the last episode ended, I cried because I was like, PLEASE DON'T END... I wanted the story to keep going. I can't. I just can't.
Hey ladies- first, love the podcast, love everything you do! Just wanna say, Floridian here- Daytona and Miami Beach are getting absolutely wrecked by spring breakers, hence the "don't come here". They trash our beaches, destroy entire blocks with litter, and last year there were so many fights and so much destruction of property it prompted the communities to say 'enough is enough'. You can look up Spring Break 2023 videos of Miami Beach and see how disrespectful tourists were- that's why they are saying not to come :)
Oh, don’t I know it! I feel like it was bad back in the day (not me. I was perfect angel, just drunk, lol) so I can’t imagine now. It just sucks for losing all that tourism money. 😠 -mh
I joined patreon in the beginning of the pod. Life got in the way. But im back for the 420 patreon. -A mom of 2 who hasnt had a fun weed night in years!!!!
23:40 That's so interesting: Waldorf is quite a common type of school in Germany and it's not prestigious at all. Quite the contrary, graduates deal with a lot of ridicule cause of its alternative approach. The classic, by this point trite, joke is that they all dance their names all the time.
BTW speaking of ranking foods, i saw a sports style bracket for potatoes on one of the ESPN twitter accounts the other day and i was very tickled by the idea that someone who watches this show works for ESPN's social media team and got the idea here. 🤣😂🤣
Elliot was was an undertaker of sorts and Goofy?! I really would love to hear a list of his jobs cuz I'm thinking it might be wild. Aww guys, I know you hate rats but just think of it as the sweet pet you loved. Mom got us rats and and mice. they were so sweet and cuddly. We cried when we had to put them down and we buried them on our grandparents farm. We didn't bring in 12 people all at once tho. That's more like some crazy awkward performance sh!t for Elliot
I almost crashed my car laughing at the rat story. As someone who stayed home from school when I was 10 because my pet lizard died, I understand how losing a pet (especially a weird one) can be traumatic, but I can also appreciate the hilarity of how odd it probably looked from an outside perspective. Mamrie was obviously laughing at the sheer image of 12 people standing around in an office crying while there's just a rat laying there. Plus, she has had a VERY open feud with rodents for 276 podcast episodes. People need to chill tf out jeez
Just like the call to schedule maids, your air BNB should have a check box for M*G can drop by. My sisters went on a carrib cruise and were allowed to leave halfway through, with refund, because of rampaging 16 year olds on HS spring break.
My college girlfriend was a psych major and they either had to euthanize or take home their lab rat and she wanted to keep it at my place because her thief roommate had a python. RED FLAG red flag RED FLAGS
love you both dearly but i just wanna make a point about how that rat was a family member just like how your lovely pups are!! it's obviously totally fine to not like certain animals but i think we should be a little less ruthless when it comes to people crying over their dead pet, that freak comment made me personally feel really bad hearing it x
Mamrie has said she has a phobia of rats many times so it kinda goes both ways on respecting others fears and understanding the comments it may cause them to say
@@Jazzman9801 this is why i mentioned that it’s fine to not like certain animals, i know and understand mamrie’s phobia entirely!! it’s just different when people are being made fun of for crying about their dead pet y’know? like hours later i’m still feeling bad about those comments as someone with pet rats, who has lost 2 of them in the past year. it hurts just as much as it would if one of my dogs died, so it would just be nice if comments like that were reflected on :)
Totally hear you. All pets are special. Obviously. I just found the absurdity of 12 people crammed into a teeny tiny vet room to say their goodbyes to a teeny tiny rat while Elliott had to euthanize it so intensely ridiculous I had to lol a little. Absolutely no shade to the owners/families. Just a wild, surprisingly visual of a bizarre tender moment.
@@itsgrace believe me i can totally see the silliness in that situation!! it’s just the “freaks” of it all that was hurtful, but i understand where it comes from. thanks for understanding and replying grace 🥹🫶
How are these whiney kids complaining about lifelong debt and I never went on spring break trips and they tore down the dorm I stayed in and built much more luxury dorms because kids DEMANDED them
