Please show this video to republicans who say "we don't want to pay for birth control just so you can sleep around!" People who menstruate need this for pain and flow.
"There's women than don't have periods and there's people who have periods who don't identify as women" - this is why I absolutely love you!! Thank you for saying this.
I love the girl talk idea! you should make it a series and talk about other subjects like shaving, boys, first kiss stories and that kind of stuff. I love your videos so much ♥
Sharing my own experience for anyone who's interested: I went on the pill when I was 14, and just came off them at age 21. I tried different kinds, tried an IUD, and in the end I found out that fake hormones fuck my body up so so much. I was depressed and anxious, gained 20 pounds, got sick all the time, and got rashes on my face regardless of which kind of birth control I used. I went on the pill for the same reasons as you and I'd much rather suffer through that than mess with my hormones. But if they work for you then obviously keep taking them, I am extremely jealous!! Since coming off hormones I feel like a different person. P.S. if you're on the pill you don't ovulate so the ovulation cramps don't really make sense
I HAD THE SAME. my IUD fucked me up so bad, I got extremely depressed. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone (and all the additional hormones are horrible for your body - with the pill as well)
E I have a no hormone COPPER iud since hormone based birth controls fucked me up pretty badly LOL copper IUDs have no hormones and they work great! Only downside is that it could make your period heavier :)
Emanuela Roma I've been looking into copper IUDs lately, would you recommend it? I read about some other negative side effects like hair loss, acne, weight gain etc.
E no those are the hormonal iuds. Copper iud have no hormones in it and the only side effects are a little bit more painful cramps and the menstruation is a bit heavier. So it's not recommended for the women who have heavy period
You're honestly an amazing role model for girls, you're not afraid to speak your mind, you're smart and kind. Most people think models are dumb because of the stereotypes but you're really proving them wrong. Keep on being awesome, love your videos 😊😊😊
I relate to this so much. My periods used to last about three weeks, not bleeding the whole time, but I would have horrible cramps the week before to the point where I couldn't move or I'd drop to the floor, bleeding would last a week, then I'd still have cramps the week after. I started birth control to help and it definitely made it shorter, less painful, and helped my skin, but since I went off of it I didn't get a period for over a year. I had some blood work done and my doctors told me I have pcos, which is just a whole other mess. I just started the pill again 3 months ago and it's brought back my cycle, but I really hope someday I can be off prescriptions because I'm really into holistic health. I'm glad you've found what works for you, but I'm sorry it's so expensive! The one I take is free right now, but with the way the American government is swaying it probably won't be soon. It sucks that they only seem to relate birth control to pregnancy, because a lot of women take it to help with serious issues. Thank you for bringing up this important topic!
I've looked into that! I was seeing a naturopathic doctor for a while who was helping me out and she gave me a liquid mixture of saw palmetto, vitex, black cohosh, and rehmminia because based on my blood test results those would work best for my imbalance. Seeing her became too expensive though about $100 per visit and the herbs weren't helping me. I've read a bit about DIM, but from what I saw it was mostly for those with estrogen dominance. Is that correct? I have a bit more testosterone than usual, so I'm not sure how it would work for me. Have you tried it?
Surowka Lynn its good for balancing hormones, particularly estrogen. Rehmannia is a good Chinese herb especially for adrenals (adrenal fatigue, another imbalance) but herbs need a good 3 months to do their thing so you have to stick with them.
I know, I took them for about a year. I eat very healthy, exercise, and have done my research on how to heal pcos naturally, but nothing seems to work for me. It can be dangerous for your body to go without menstruating for that long, so I'll have to figure something out. Thank you for your advice though
Surowka Lynn sorry to hear, its good you keep healthy. Read more about DIM because from what I have read it helps with pcos and regulating the menstrual cycle. I believe it was DeliciouslyElla that suffered with pcos and overcame it she has a blog
love that you're just so raw honest and just... relatable. I feel more human when I watched one or your Videos! Does that make sense haha? kisses from Germany Alexandria💜
I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS ON MY PERIOD AND I WAS WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS TO RELAX AND I WAS FEELING SO BAD THINKING "omg she's so beautiful, has perfect body, perfect skin and propably has no period cramps/problems" and now i feel bad for you, but this video also makes me feel better(:❤
this doesn't really have to do with the subject of this video, but I'm going through a super stressful time rn, and your videos help to distract me. Thank you, much love😘
Leah Marie I'm glad I could help you, even if it's in a small way 💜 Keep your head up and don't be too hard on yourself, with whatever it is you're going through. All things pass with time 💖
I have a lot of respect for you for addressing this natural process we as females go through. You spoke about this so eloquently and truthfully and brought up great points on how to handle it and not be embarrassed. Love you girl!
Alexandrea i just want you to know how much you impacted my life. Ever since ive started being a loyal subscriber youve helped me gain love and self confidence. Thank you so much for being so genuine and personable. I started feeling good about myself and stoped comparing myself to other people with your help!! Thank you so much you really did change my life💕 i love you
Yes girl!!! We need people that are more open about periods. I've never had terrible cramps to the point of fainting or throwing up but I have friends who had it that bad :/ love your videos and your personality 💕
Alexandria, I'm /so/ glad you mentioned ovulation cramps because me too! They're always worse than my period cramps and they're a different kind of pain that's sharper and has literally made me gasp out loud sometimes. Thanks for this video xo
Thanks for sharing your experience and your stance on birth control affordability, it's so refreshing to hear and it's nice to know that anyone can have period issues, and that I'm not alone! I also take birth control for the same reason, and I used to throw up and pass out too from the pain, it was so severe. When I hear you talk about it, I feel blessed that the birth control helps control the pain and suffering I went through for so many years.
Thank you for speaking up about this! It's such a problem that women are taught to be ashamed of their bodies, we need people to talk about it and make a difference! ❤️
I'm so thankful for this video ❤ I deal with extreme pain during my period as well and until recently it was something that I just had to deal with each month. There was no cure offered to me even by my doctor because period cramps weren't something of concern or importance. Thank you for using your platform to bring light to this!
I clicked into your channel out of curiosity and I actually really love your videos! Definite sub. Also, thank you for not sugarcoating anything. The struggles are so real.
I love how open you are, i think every girl should be able to talk about her period as open as you can because periods should be a normal thing, every woman has it and it's a completely natural thing happening in our bodies. I'm so glad there's people like you out there, you go girl! ❤️
Alexandria, you are so awesome! I'm in the process of becoming a nurse practitioner with a focus on women's health. I love that you speak up for women and discuss the importance of being comfortable in our bodies and having more choices when it comes to reproductive rights such as birth control! Keep it up girl; your channel is important, fun, and down to earth!!
Yes!!! Love this. My first two days of my period are torturous. I get depressed, horrible cramps where I feel like I'm going to pass out, and usually one week before I get back and shoulder acne. It sucks! Your videos are so awesome, you're so down to earth and gorgeous! Please keep making videos.
I love watching your videos in your bathroom. i have dealt with such horrible cramps and cutting out dairy and just walking around made those better but I still have to take a painkiller once a while it's horrible🙈 ps you really inspire me to make my video raw and keep them chill. youre very relatable!!!
omg when you said you would throw up or pass out from period cramps i was like this is SO REAL!!! ive always had really bad cramps and for like four months i was so scared when i knew it was only a few days for my period bc it was SOOOOOOOO horrible once i literally threw up in my bedroom floor bc i couldn't even get up and go to the bathroom honestly birth control pills SAVED my life i completely agree with you, it's not only helpful to not get pregnant but it also helps regulate periods and period cramps and should be WAY more accessible
oh my god I was talking about periods with a friend of mine this weekend and when we got to the subject of youtube I mentioned you and how you're one of my favorite youtubers!!! and now you post this!! we're connected haha. love the video! your content is so good!! 💛💛
thank you so much for this video. I have extremely heavy periods and more horror stories than I'd like to confess. I've been on my period for a solid 2 years and 8 months before due to my birth control and bad hormones and I really just hate the stigma around periods. just because I'm on my period doesn't mean I'm any different from when I'm off it and I just wish people wouldn't treat it like it's a contagious disease. you are a godsend Alex!!!
My period used to be terrible (like horrible cramps where I had to stay home from school they were so bad, heavy flow, etc.), so I went on the pill and never looked back! It's awesome!! Thank you for doing this video. I'm sure you helped a lot of people!
I love the concept of your videos, so simple, but so meaningful. Checking every day to get a notification about your new video 😂 TBH, you are the best youtuber that I subscribe ☺
I have been having my period since I was 9 (almost 18 now) and I didn't realise ovulation caused discharge! (due to never having the chat about it) I genuinely thought something was wrong but I was so scared/embarrassed to talk to anyone, so THANKYOU SO MUCH for clearing that up! I feel so much better!
Thank you being so open and honest throughout the video! Also love that you are trans-inclusive 💜💜. I feel like this is a great video for people to watch. There's no sugar coating facts, you tell it like it is! 😊
This is real talk! Ovulation pain is actually excruciating at times (usually worse than period pain for me). I had no idea what it was at first! Thank you for talking about all this stuff :) P.S. I live in the UK where we have free contraception! It really isn't something you should have to pay for.
i used to have really heavy periods that would last 7-8 days haha. after i became vegan they started getting lighter and now only last 3 days :-) good to see you talking about this!
I have recently subscribed to you and I wanted to say - you are an awesome youtuber! Not cocky, not angry, not fake. Please stay that way and keep inspiring others
I hope the industry won't change you. You are so, so real and so wonderful and kind. Please don't change. You are the type of girl I just love. Absolutely gorgeous but don't see it as their no.1 currency. Don't stop posting videos, im addicted to you!!!!
Yesss the whole dreading standing up thing is the worst! I remember back in high school I dreaded it every period. We had school uniforms and the summer uniform was a really light colour so at the end of class I'd always try and be the last one out of the room haha!
I totally agree with your vid! I had a terrible pain during my period and after I started taking birth control pills for 3months, It's 100%better than before. Thanks for good videos gorgeous.
Girl I feel you with the severe cramps! The day before I get my period or the first day of bleeding, my cramps are so bad that I'm on the floor crying & sobbing for at least an hour!
Very educating. I remember in fifth grade all the girls going to a separate classroom to learn about their menstrual cycles, and I've always assumed that most young women start around or by the age of twelve. From your video and the comments, I see I was mistaken. I also didn't realize that birth control could ease the process. It just goes to show you how little a gay man can know about menstruation--not a woman, never had a girlfriend, never discussed it _too much_ with any women.
You should do more videos like this! Like just talk about problems that everyone goes through and how to deal with some of them! I like this video also!!!!
Perfect timing haha. :) Well I highly recommend "Yoga for PMS and menstruation cramps" from Yoga with Adrienne, seriously try it, her video is great! Oh and thank you Alexandria for being as nice and sincere as you are. :)
Good job bringing this subject out in the open. You have such a casual way of discussing things. Maybe you could make some videos for young girls on this subject. It's about time this stuff was updated in schools.
