Genius!! I sat here for over an hour trying to figure out how to do this conversion with as little financial impact as possible, it never occurred to me to cut the headrest off. This is so helpful!
I was wondering the very same thing! I think at least some bent EMT tubing from any box store electrical department could be welded on to support the back bend of the new form fitted foam. EMT can sometimes be galvanized but perfectly safe to weld when the galvanization is ground off or dipped in muriatic acid. Think I'll do mine this way with just a little flux core machine. Heck if you don't have a welder we could use copper water pipe and solder it in. If you don't try, you've already failed.
It would be nice to have some captions or something explaining what parts are needed to buy. Especially that top piece. One could assume that would help actually sell your products.
I waited to see if they have a custom top bar or something but they just put a cushion over the top of the seat and hope for the best I guess. 65 thru 67 have the same upper seats and they fit the bottom seats right thru 72. I like the 73 through 77 seats. The 78, 79 separate headrests are pretty awesome.
@@Its_about_that_time Yes. I put them in the clothes dryer for a couple of minutes to warm them up to make them fit correctly. It wasn’t easy but that’s what worked for me. Two years later, they still look and fit great.
You guys take way too long to finish products. It took me almost 8 months to recieve my order that I ordered from bugs. Plus why are your prices so dam high considering what bugs charges. I turned my 70 bug seats into 67 lowbacks using 67 seat covers from jbugs, and foam from Wolfsburg west. Fit like a glove.
GR8T Video and InfoTainment - Thank you. But no finished top-tube (unacceptable) and sparks in a upolstery shop? Eeeeek! Don't let your Insurance company see that. Just sayng. Still a thumbs up for effort :O)
@@legotech7 "can"? That is a hot mess of lawsuit garbage right there with no bar welded in! That seat is dangerous if it is in an accident with someone in it. Only a fool would let that out of his shop without taking the five minutes it would take to properly weld in a top frame bar.😬
ricky Lawson I got a set of stock 1959 low backs and a backseat also,I'll sell! In good shape except the back seat back rest is non matching color but good frame ect...building race buggy,so new seats needed...
