I personally think that TID was a looot better. Maybe that's because I love Jem so much (oops) but I think the characters, the setting and the love story in TID are a little bit stronger than in TMI ;)
I understand your problem 😂👌🏻 what TMI is for you, is TID for me. I love Jem Carstairs. I love his character, I love his story, i LOVE HIMMM 😭😭 I just cry and while I was cyring he maked me laugh and I was so emotional. He deserves everything good in world, but he doesn't want everything good for him, he wants that for his friends/family. I was a totally mess after Clockwork princess. And Jem isn't my first bookboyfriend, but he still slays my whole life with his words. I think nobody can top him. 😱😭😭😍❤️ Jem Carstairs is my spirit animal
YES, YES, AND EVEN MORE YES! I LOVE JEM CARSTAIRS SO SO MUCH HE JUST MAKES ME SMILE WHENEVER HE TALKS OR PLAYS HIS VIOLIN OR TALKS TO ANY OF THE OTHER SHADOWHUNTERS
I think TID is a lot better than TMI, maybe its just because i simply enjoy stories that takes place in the past (especially The Victorian London era) but i also think in TID we learn more about loyalty and love and true friendship and all that chessy stuff and i really enjoy it!❤️❤️❤️❤️
I'm a wessa shipper, although I did enjoy Jessa as well and I really appreciate the love triangle. I think I just generally got so much more attached to the characters in TID than TMI cuz I felt they were more developed and better written.
You literally have the same opinion as me about the whole "Climon" thing, it makes me uncomfortable when i read CoA. Also I actually ship Jessa and Wessa. It's the only love triangle where I've equally shipped both sides of it xD
Will, Tessa, and Jem. The only love triangle I will willingly accept. It's true. JESSA for life. Will and Tess had an instant connection but with Tessa and Jem, there's a build up. You see them slowly falling for each other and I love it. I prefer Jace to Will too. Sebastian was an awesome villain- The Magister was not a villain to be honest. I love Cecily and Izzy equally. I love the London institute- because I'm from London. 😂 Clockwork Princess was amazing. It deffo was more intense (and I'm a TMI snob).
Will and Tessa. the otp that has shattered me and rocked my world all the same. the couple I was rooting for so much. (And it happened!) yet I wished Will was immortal. he needed Tess for then anything. Jem and Will. My favorite Parabatai to read. their brotherly love will stay with me forever. I'm gonna have to choose Infernal Devices over Mortal Instruments. although I do love Mortal Instruments, I just love Infernal Devices more....
I am teenager, I get easily depressed and TID gave me a lot of pain because I cared so much about Will and everyone in the book . So I have to go with TMI but Will is still my fave.
I agree with you, I am just too attached to TMI. Even though I love both, TMI has a special place in my heart because those books were my first experience with the Shadowhunter world.
The Infernal Devices is actually my favourite series of all time so its really refreshing to see this video after watching your previous TMI vs TID tag. Don't get me wrong I also absolutely love TMI but I just feel so much more of an emotional connection to the story and the characters of TID. I just feel like the portrayal of love and loyalty was a lot stronger in TID. This may also be because I love Will just as much as you love Jace. The parabatai bond between Will and Jem made me feel a lot more than the one between Jace and Alec did. Not to say that I didn't enjoy reading about the bond between Jace and Alec because I really did but I just have so much more of an emotional connection to Will and Jem's bond. I really enjoyed this video!
+vicki love glad to hear you love tid so much, i completely understand your reasoning!! i think we're just the opposite with the connection thing hahahha
When I told my friends that I love Sebastian they almost had a heart attack. I am glad I'm not the only one to love his character and that appreciates him as a villain!
Can you imagine when this tag will eventually become the TID vs TLH vs TMI vs TDA vs TWP tag? I'm pretty sure someone will remake it when QoAaD comes out. I also feel like that someone might be you. Personally most of my points are going towards TDA at the moment. I am obsessed with TDA. Favourite main character: Clary, Tessa or Emma? Emma. Favourite Herondale: Jace, Will or Kit? Kit. Kit is my precious child, and I love him. Favourite love triangle: Siclace, Herongraystairs or Kierarktina? Kierarktina. Rooting for hot fairy threesome. Favourite villain: Sebastian, Mortmain or the Unseelie King? Sebastian. Better army doesn't really apply. I guess there's the faerie army, or the Cohort. Anyway, definitely the Clockwork Army. Best first book: CoB, CA or LM? Lady Midnight. There's like, no contest. Favourite female sidekick: Isabelle, Cecily or Cristina? For me it's a tie between Izzy and Cristina. Best setting: NY, London or LA Institute? Tied between the London Institute and the LA Institute. Favourite last book? At the moment, CoHF, but I think QoAaD will probably beat it. Best epilogue? CoHF, at the moment. TID: 1.5 TMI: 3.5 TDA: 5 Of course, this is basically a beta run.
1. Tessa Gray 2. Will Herondale 3. Will, Tessa, Jem 4. Sebastian Morgernstern 5. Clockwork 6. City Of Bones 7. Cecily Lightwood (This was so hard, but I still love Isabelle!) 8. London Institute 9. Clockwork Princess 10. Clockwork Princess BTW. Will is my bookboyfriend which is crazy since I'm gay, yep. Cecily is my bookgirlfriend!
Yess!! he was the most interesting character IMO, in TMI! *potential spoiler* Was really annoyed with what Cassandra did with him at the end of CoHF. 😥
For me when I was younger, Harry Potter for me was what TMI was/is for you. I refead it over and over again for months, and everytime I tried to read something else, I just wasn't having it. I eventually read something else (I think it was Divergent, and it really kicked off my love for Dystopian). It has been 3-4 years since I was in my Harry Potter phase, and I am much more open minded. Sometimes I do still struggle to really get into something else if I am just not ready for a story to end, but I don't flat out say no anymore lol.
I disagree with you on basically every question where you answer TMI because I love TID SOOOO much more (TMI is still a great series!) I fell in love with TID, maybe because I read it before I read TMI I dunno. I just feel like TID is a better series :D
Hahaha I can definitely see why you say that! To each their own! All that maters to me is that Cassie Clare gets the recognition she deserves for the worlds she creates :))
Jace was also my very first book boyfriend and still even though Will is great...Jace is Jace no one can compete with him!! Also as far as villains are concerned, both Valentine and Sebastian were by far the best villains I`ve read about, the Magister never intimidated for some reason. Now I`m very curious to watch the previous TMI vs. TDI video 😁
Okay but like Clace is my OTP for life!!!!The Mortal Instruments are the books that made me love reading so i'm so attached to the story. Any cassandra clare's book are good ❤️
Thank you for redoing this, I stumbled on your original video first and I really felt like you were unfairly dismissing TID so I'm really glad you revised your opinions.
I love TMI. It was the first series I read and there is that love I have for it ❤️ TID is just more relatable for me and it just gets me in my feelings 👑
i remember the first time you did this and it was awesome yaaaaas clary still slays i have definitely moved past being so upset over jessa AND I GET IT NOW TOO I LOVE LOVE LOVE SEBASTIAN both sidekicks are perfect how do you choose what do you mean fictional the institute IS THERE OKAY clockwork princess was a very intense ending to that trilogy cohf's epilogue was the best way to end it im so glad your opinions have changed in a great way!!
I love both series equally😭😭 I love Tessa and Clary, Jace and Will, Sebastian, and Izzy and Cecily! TID was written later on, and the writing was better but TMI will always have a place in mah heart🖤
i’m definitely more of a TID and TDA person than I am TMI, but I must say that the first 3 books in TMI are all time favorites of mine. they hold such a special place in my heart and it’s really hard for me to put other books above them
currently reading lady midnight!!! ddid anyone notice this, both protagonist are connected to the antagonist in some weird way. both antagonost want the protagonist to marry them. both secondary protagonist are Herondales. both protagonist created an army. both protagonist are kidnapped.
I just finished Clockwork Princess today, and when you announced the last question, inhuman sounds came from my mouth, and I almost had a breakdown, love this tag though
Aaah I need to this! I just did a Shadowhunters tag, but these questions are so cool too! The TID love triangle is also the only love triangle I can get behind haha, I love how it's based on everyone just caring about each other TOO MUCH instead of weird jealousy and competition. Sebastian is definitely one of the best villians ever. I think our answers for the last two questions would be mirrored! I thought City of Heavenly Fire was SO good compared to Clockwork Princess, but the epilogue of Clockwork Princess was everything lol.
When i read a book series with a love triangle i get extremely biased. When i first read wessa i had my heart set on them but i slowly started to fall in love with jem
I think I have to do this tag ASAP. I totally get the attachment to TMI! I made an infernal devices story time video that explains why I think I need to pit these two together as of recently.
I think it really depends at which series you read first. I defiantly prefer TMI, and sort of had the same experience where I'd didn't really like TID to begin with. I've made my peace with it now though. I also just loved Tessa and Will so much, at the time like you I thought Jem was just in the way.
I feel like I'm apart of the minority section of the Shadowhunter fandom that prefers The Infernal Devices over The Mortal Instruments. Despite that detail, wonderful video and I love how excited you get over Cassandra Clare books.
As for Will and Tessa ... she thought about him even when hang out with Jem . I really don't know what to say. On the one hand, Will said to her terrible things at the end of the first book and I hate him so much. But I understand that she loves Will no matter what. On the other hand, Jem supported her and showed London and was kind to her. To my mind, while Jem proposed to her they were not ready for this, they knew each other too little and he was more as her friend then a boyfriend. .
i took this because i was so confused on which i like better I ended up liking TID better, but i think that had to do with the fact that I read it first, although i also hoped for a which version of Magnus is better question
lol there probably will be a new vs tag when the last hours & the dark artifices are finished haha. I love tmi more than tid but tid is still sooooo good
I was going to start The Shadowhunter Chronicles with TID but the lady at the shop said to start with TMI. So I'll always have that sentimental tie to TMI more than TID like you said 💙
TMI is kind of my Harry Potter since Harry Potter came out before I was born and I was 8 when TMI came out, so I grew up with it and Jace was my 1st book boyfriend. It will always have a special place in my heart. Before anyone says anything. Yes I have read Harry Potter and yes it's amazing, I just didn't grow up with it.
comparing your old video to this one is hilarious. I love how drastically your opinions changed. also Sebastian Morgenstern is also my baby. I understand.
I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE WITH AN OBSESSION OVER Sebastian! I'm not aloneeeeeeeeeeee! But seriously, he's my favorite character of all time in books. Ever.
I wish I had read TID before our TMI readalong but hey better late than never right! But now that I've read all of them, I actually agree with all of your choices, except for the epilogue one! I think I would've chosen CPrincess because I liked how emotional it made me ahaha
My story of tmi is like the same as yours. A good friend of mine forced me to watch city of bones, i fell in love with the movie and everything about it and then i found out about the books and read them. To this day it is my favourite series of all time.
I loved this video! Hihi! I only read the 3 first books of the mortal instruments because someone told me that I should read the infernal devices first (because of spoilers). Is that true?
+Histórias Fantásticas it's recommended that you read them in publishing order, but I think you'd be good in terms of spoilers for everything but City of Heavenly Fire (the last book in TMI)
+Histórias Fantásticas here are the ways i recommend reading tmi and tid: 1. Publication order: COB COA COG CA COFA CP COLS CP2 COHF 2. Complete Trilogies: COB/COA/COG, CA/CP/CP2, COFA/COLS/COHF 3. Read in ANY order as long as you finish TID before COHF (originally i read cob coa cog cofa cols, ca cp cp2. cohf because cohf wasn't out yet and i enjoyed it this way too :))
Does anyone know where i can get a cope of jace's special POV scene that was in the barnes and noble special edition of The City Of Bones? i live in australia and i had one but my friend borrowed it and know she has lost it so if anyone knows where i can buy another one or find the scene online that would be amazing. thanks xx.
I couldn’t stand Tessa bc of how she made out with both of them like hours(?) apart. Who can root for a character basically coming between two best friends?? I’m like you- I read tid right after tmi. And I’ve read tmi 8 times now😳😂 But I remember the only thing I liked about Tessa was her love for books. And that I didn’t understand why people loved Tessa lol. I’m so sorry guys- we all have different feels- please don’t hate me! I’ll try to reread it at some point🤷🏼♀️
omg im wondering if she could do a book shelf tour soon if so then yay but if not any time soon they alright good anyway as long i get to see her videos:]
Have u read the crown yet!!!!!!! I just finished it!!!! IT IS REALLY GOOD!!!!!!! And I am soooo saad that it has ended 😭😭😭😭I legit cried at the end😭😭😭😭but I love the ending. Exactly how I wanted it to end. And if u haven't bought it yet then buy it from Barnes and nobles because there is a special epilouge
Ahajdjsj I never thought I'd like a male character more than Jace, but then Will Herondale came along ❤️❤️ I used to hate TID too because it was too unlike TMI but now TID is my favourite series ever. I feel about Will how you feel about Jace 😂😂😂😂
