Tbh imo 2012 fam all suffers from undiagnosed untreated mental disorders, mostly cause the show creators gave them symptoms of their disorders, but Nickelodeon didnt want them to ever say the word for the disorder, which meant their intention of showing how itll be okay with these issues was. Well. Stopped. So the boys all have problems but no solutions. 2012 leo is actually implied to have psychosis which worsens after splinter's death. Him seeing splinter is not meant to be his ghost, its him hallucinating. 2012 raph does have anger issues which is the only thing acknowledged, but anger issuses is usually a SYMPTOM of something. In my opinion, he was autistic and it manifested in anger when he was overstimulated/overwhelmed. Wrestling with mikey was him stimming to get energy out. 2012 Donnie was OCD. And not in the "omg im so clean" way, ocd is OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE DISORDER. Aka: his brain gets obsessive with things that he cant control and forces him to do inane things usually tied to superstitions. I have OCD, and it sucks. My brain becomes obsessive over horrible dark thoughts, donnie's became obsessive over april. This also meant someone messing with his lab or things severely impacted him way more then the average person. OCD internally is really dark and scary, it isnt just being neat. And last, Mikey. Mikey in 2012 canonically was meant to have ADHD. Thats why hes impulsive, thats why he acts before thinking. That's why hes so allergic to boredum. The way ADHD works is its caused by too little natrually occuring dopamine, which means you crave things that give you more dopamine (aka fun things). When youre doing boring things, it can almost physically hurt cause you're already very low on an important neurochemical, but now boredum is ensuring you get NO extra to help. It sucks, cause your brain seeks dopamine so you cant focus on anything that doesn't give it. ADHD people also get more addicted to fun things cause of the dopamine. So, in conclusion, their undiagnosed mental illnesses severely impacted their Relationships. If their dad got them more help like its implied rise splinter did for Donnie and Mikey, their relationships wouldn't be as impacted (To clarify on rise splinter: rise mikey is also implied adhd, but hes also super talented in art, gymnastics, ballet, cooking, etc. This implied splinter saw his critically bored hyperactive son and got him things to help teach him skills to help entertain him and keep his dopamine levels up. Ballerinas have to start very early, and for mikey to be a "master" at 13, splinter likely got him stuff to do ballet as a toddler. Rise donnie is so secure in his autism he doesn't even mask, which says a LOT about how he was raised because it means rise splinter never once forced his son to "be normal" in any capacity and instead did his best to understand donnie as-is. While he did distance himself when they were teenagers due to them "not needing him", he HAD to have been active in their childhood for mikey and donnie to be so well adjusted. As much as the fandom parentifies raph, he isnt actually parentified in the show, and he wasnt the one raising them.)
