When you buy a blacklight, the addiction begins finding anything that reacts to it. You find yourself just craving more and more of that glow-in-the-dark goodness. Super7 for me!
Great video. Honest, organic, thoughtful. Blacklights on amazon, the l.e.d. ones, for like $20 for an 18 inch bar, charge glow super well. 20-30 minute charge, and anything that should glow will glow at it's best. Even the stuff that doesn't glow in the dark, but is UV reactive, like Radioactive Red Rage Toxie (super7), they all glow amazingly. Bug Zapper Blue Baxter uses a blue glow in the dark pigment, and it's the lowest 'charge' of the glowing colors. Blue and Purple. But with enough strong charge time, they will definitely pop. Great video. Also a 40 year old nerd.
I look at it this way. NECA gives us what we wanted our toys to look like and Super7 gives us what our toys should have done as far as articulation . So I don't compare them to each other and look at it as a great time to be the kid again that sat in front of the tube and relive those moments. P.S.- I absolutely love this channel and wish those other so called "TMNT reviewers" put this much effort into their reviews .
I like the format! For a glow-in-the-dark figure, being able to see the figure in the dark should probably worth 90% of the grade. If it doesn't glow, it's just an inferior unpainted plasticky version of a much better figure. The painted versions are just so good! I'm definitely not going far into the Super7 line, but I would like to see some comparisons of what characters of Super7 scale well with the NECA toon line. I picked up Slash and Scratch (easily the best Super7 in my opinion!), but there are a few characters that just seem way too big or small to fit together. Price is an important consideration. $55 versus $35 is pretty significant as it means you choose between getting 2 Super7 figures or 3 NECA figures.
The battle scene photos at the end are very fun! Nothing worse then being pinned down and having the victor dangle a loogie over you lol. Thanks for another entertaining review.
I'm happy to see this review. I don't have either version of Neca's Muckman but I love the animated aesthetic. Super 7's Muckman is a beast though. I've had him for a year (?) and that figure is such a big chunky action figure. The slimy alt right hand is just so cool. The slime feature works too. Of all the GID S7 figures, Muckman is easily the best. A lot has been said about the snot white color as opposed to green, but it definitely makes him stand out. The coolest part of the S7 GID Muckman is the wrist and forearm bones on the left arm. They are painted white. So when he glows they don't. The elbow joint is also painted white so it doesn't glow either. It makes it seem like the bone is showing through the forearm. -------- Great review, but missed a golden opportunity at the end. You said "S7 Glows". Should have been "Super 7 Glows, Neca Blows!" since it's a Vs video. 😂
That's very odd, because my Neca version glows like hell, and I have two of them. Overall I like the Neca Muckman more. The translucent green plastic just looks so much better on a shelf than the pale white of the Super 7.
When i was younger, i was obsessed with the fred wolf cartoon and turtles. But only asked for the main playmates turtles and a few other figs, because they didn’t look like the cartoon. I never even picked up shredder cause he didn’t even have a shirt lol So i guess you know I like the neca muckman more 😂
I passed on both. Mainly because I didn’t want to support variants in the Toon line that was really rolling at the time of this release. I was like you in being hopeful for a playmates GITD Muckman. When seeing photos of it. I just had to pass completely. It’s neat that it glows great. I just don’t like the way it looks resting. Honestly if super 7 mimicked the neca aesthetics while keeping the glow. It might be the most expensive figure of S7 in the aftermarket. Goes double for the flop that was mutagen man. Missed opportunities and missing paint apps is an all to familiar s7 trait.
