In this video I go through every item in the long awaited NECA TMNT Movie Accessory Pack and review them, compare them with shots from the film, and ramble on and on. Check back soon and I'll have the Chapters available!
I just noticed this so I couldn’t put this in the review. When you try to remove the newer heads to switch back to the old heads, the balls usually pull out of the base of the head and stay in the neck. There’s not much of a lip inside of the head for the ball to stay inside the head. So the old heads pull out of the neck and the new ones pull out of the body which can be a little annoying. I had to warm up the necks with some hot water so I could pull the ball out of the neck and put the old head back on. Does that make sense haha?
The love you have the turtles really came through in this and i really enjoyed it so much more than any other reviews I've watched for that reason, the turtles are very near and dear to my heart and I got that same feeling from you watching this
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ve always been a huge TMNT fan so it’s been a lot of fun making videos where I get to talk about them. They have so many cool variations, comics, movies, games that they never get stale. Even when something like the Next Mutation comes out, it’s not long until you got something great like the 2003 show! I’ve had a lot of good times with these dudes!
Im collecting mine... I had to purchase all 4 at one time... next probably Splinter and so on... I agree with you, a fan will always be the best critique...
That set is awesome and I didn't know that it came out already. I still have the original release of the four turtles at that size still in the box. I have all four turtles quarter scale on display. And another quarter scale Raphael still in the box cuz he's my favorite. Thank you for the review and the upload. Also the quarter scale accessories, pizza boxes the same way it's got grease and stains all over it. NECA really did an awesome job with this Turtle power🐢🐢🐢🐢🐀
The 1/4 scale Turtles look amazing. I wish I could pick them up, but I don’t have the space! I thought about just getting Donatello, but then I know I’d be more inclined to buy all the rest haha. Thanks for watching!
Finally someone else besides powerturtlebusters reviews brought up the heads on the poster. Only mega fans would notice those aren't the film heads. Like he said though, I wonder where those heads are. They were never used even as stunts. Maybe Mike's was during the chuck scene. Like an early design of them.
Great vid! Saw another review = didn’t want it. Saw this one = I want it. Especially the smiling Donatello. It reminds me of the camp fire scene when he says “I came prepared, heh heh.” Hard decision now that eBay sells it on average $250.
I like this set a lot, but I don’t know if I’d ever pay $250 for it. That’s a lot of money haha. eBay prices have been awful lately. Hopefully Neca will decide to put it up for preorder again someday. They said they would put Tokka and Rahzar up again and they did so there’s hope. Donnie does look a lot like the campfire scene. Just thinking about it makes me want to go watch the movie again.
I have the sdcc 4 pack for all 3 sets! But as much as I want to open them….i caaant! 😫…should I not care? Or should I buy the Walmart ones and leave those boxed? Any input might help my decision. Thanks guys
I also feel to this day that the puppetry for this movie was the best, the expressions and voice-over was fantastic, and I still see them as real looking to this day..... just don't try to convince somebody today that never saw the movie before, all they see are puppets.
This is incredible! I agree with you 100% -- Yeesh, now I'm thinking I might have to get all these Turtles and accessories! The first movie is a true masterpiece! I still like the second, it's a lot of fun and still has the magic. The third is where the production dropped drastically, but I still watch it.
I like the second too. I hope I didn’t come off too negative in the video. I just think the first one is on another level! It’s almost a perfect adaptation of the comic story and we didn’t even know it when we were kids. I haven’t seen the third one since I was a kid. I’ll have to revisit it again sometime.
@@CaptainRockoBD these are being reissued now, and I was going to order them, but I chose not to. I saw 3 reviews where the youtube broke weapons and parts as they were doing simple movements or changing hands. these sadly are a ripoff since they have such low quality. So I will not be getting these unless the new versions are more durable
It was a really nice surprise NECA included the pizza coupon and new bandana ties. They never showed those coming with the set. No big deal (and I have a custom accurate one), but it would've been nice if the pizza box was shaped like the real one instead of being square. And with the new bandana ties, I just can't use Donnie's with the other head...the purple's a lot darker. But hey, still happy we got 'em. Never saw any of those sets at Walmart.
Were the bandanas on the new heads included in the Walmart two packs? I must have forgot that they were. I also didn’t realize I could remove them. I really like how they sit in the turtles shoulders, but I agree it’s a bummer that the colors don’t match as well now. I’d be curious to see if the Walmart releases had darker colors. I never saw them in stores either. I never saw Splinter either, I kind of wish the pizza with the melted cheese was included.
@@razrentals8897 Yeah, the Walmart Turtles came with all three bandana ties, and they're the less dark coloured ones. I was wanting to get that Splinter too just for the new accessories. So yeah, I would've loved if they included a few of their additional hands, or at least the head pizza like you mentioned. Real inexpensive accessories that could've been thrown in for all of us that don't have Turtles at their Walmart's...or 50+ extra dollars lying around to complete our Splinter's lol.
19:36 - Can't remember if it was Trevor or Randy that mentioned this not too long ago, but they did say they'll be making Secret of the Ooze Turtles. So they'll be their own releases; which I think is the best way to do it considering they'll always be demand for movie and cartoon brothers. I haven't researched yet to see what differences there is between the suits. I'd be great if they subtly changed a few parts, like how the upper arms are different on a few of 'em. I'll get them regardless to have another set of bodies.
The paint is definitely different in the second movie. The spots are more pronounced but not as much as the third movie. I think the rubber may look a little thinner in the second movie, not that that would change how they make the toy. The heads are very different. Even Leonardo I noticed is more different than I thought. His beak sticks out further in the second movie. I’ll pick them up, if I can find them, but the first movie suits will always beat the second ones. I’ve been wondering what the contributing factors are. I heard they made the heads bigger in the second movie because they were too uncomfortable in the first movie. I’ve been meaning to look up what designers changed from the first to second movie to see if that effected the sculpts. Like I said in the review I think a lot of the beaks/nose area have that usual Henson look. There’s something very subtle about it. In the second movie when they made the heads bigger they lost that Henson trademark nose shape.
@@razrentals8897 I'm sure body molds will be the same for each turtle, down to the different shell designs (if that was even a thing in the second). I think I remember about them saying the heads were made larger. Definitely remember the whole 'buckets of sweat' collecting in those suits. I don't think I ever had the thought about Jim liking beaks/large noses...it makes 100% sense. Gonzo has always been my favourite. So it was a perfect pairing when Jim teamed up with Brian Froud for Labyrinth and Dark Crystal. Brian certainly loved those long muzzled characters like the Skeksis and Mystics. I wonder if he drew inspiration from the Muppets prior to collaborating with Jim; or maybe all those characters were pretty much Jim's creations. I hope sooner than later NECA goes back to making Labyrinth and Dark Crystal figures.
@@Chalor. I agree Froud’s designs fit that style perfectly. I really miss puppets and practical effects in movies. It seemed like if things kept on the same track, practical effects could have evolved into something amazing. Or at least they should do more things like the Netflix Dark Crystal series where they mixed cgi and practical effects in an amazing way. For the longest time Peter Laird was saying that he wanted to make another Tmnt movie with suits, but cgi mouth movements. I would have loved to see that.
Donnie was definitely my favourite head design, and I loved as a kid Corey Feldman did their voice. So yeah, it was disappointing they redesigned the head so badly for the second, and no more Corey. Trying to think of the word you're wanting to use to describe how you were as a kid, with being bothered by the inconsistencies.
I liked the Corey Feldman voice a lot too, but I don’t even know if I realized it was him when I was younger. He’s even kind of doing the Burbs voice he does. I don’t know how I missed it. I think the word is purist haha. Or stubborn.
The reason is exactly that, TMNT 2 was made to be much more kid-friendly after parents complained. SO they dont use their weapons, and it's all upbeat. Raph alone had been written as the 'funny one'...
They've tried to get Toshishiro Obata (Tatsu) a number of times to sign off on a figure. He's not interested at all, so it's probably safe to say he's never coming. I decided not to grab this set at the time, kind of regretting it a bit now that I've seen it. Oh well, got Danny and April on the way at the moment. Glad they're doing an unmasked Casey. Not sure I'd be interested in TMNT2 variants, but would absolutely love to see Samurai TMNT3 variations.
I think they should do a Secret of the Ooze accessories set so that you don’t have to rebuy four new figures which would most likely be the same models with slightly different paint. They could include the new heads and some random pieces from the movie. A bell from the scene with Keno, sausage links for Mikey, bow and arrows for Splinter, rubber snake in April’s fridge, etc.
I just looked to see how much it’s going for nowadays. Is around $175 the usual? I would say at that money, no. The heads do a perfect job of capturing the proportions and expressions seen in the movie, but I’ve only kept the accessory head on my Michelangelo. Leo, Don and Raph are all great, but I think the original figure expressions are even better.
I recall having to place 2 separate orders when this released. Cause 3 items were available at the time m tmnt ooze movie brother 4 pack. This accessory set & tokka & rahzar re release. Sale out was fast so I didn’t want to waste precious time to figure out why having 3 items in my cart it wouldn’t sell me the items but I removed tokka & rahzar & sale went through . Then I added tokka 2 pack & bought it separately. Yeah $30 in shipping. Only to find out tokka 2 pack was going for around $89 anyway., on eBay
Do you think NECA will reissue the 1990 movieaccessory set or will they reissue the 1990 movie turtles as ultimates with 2 or more heads and ball joint hips like the newer ones?
The ultimates would be a great idea. I don’t understand why things like the movie accessory set or even things like the 4 cartoon turtles aren’t brought back again every year to allow people who missed out a chance to jump on board. Every year more people seem to get interested in the line, but if I was just learning about the line right now and I saw all of the aftermarket prices I’d probably bail. They brought back Tokka and Rahzar after saying they wouldn’t so hopefully the accessory set makes a return.
@@razrentals8897 agree with that. I saw your bunny bebop and rocksteady review and I’m afraid to buy the 1990 tuetles as they were still using the old hip joints plus i do want the accessories as i also missed out
Just wanted to point out the pandas legs are on ball joints. I could definitely tell they were separate pieces, so I kept wondering about that with watching the reviews. I mean, not like it dynamically changes it, but still neat you can lean it far back or more upright and it still stays sitting.
@@razrentals8897 I've been watching all the reviews and no one's mentioned it yet. Maybe someone from the Facebook group has left a comment about it, but who knows.
@@razrentals8897 Aw man, I absolutely know the feeling. You hold yourself to a higher standard, so you're supposed to notice all those things that others aren't able to. But you still locked in like 98% more information than anyone elses review.
It's neca.. they made 4/5 king kongs and a dozen penny wise figures... you know they'll release the turtles again w these heads as some type of exclusive
I honestly think the secret of the ooze heads while not as good as the first movie aren't that bad especially when compared to the heads from turtles 3 which looked awful in my opinion
Haha I’m sorry to hear they got you hooked on another line of turtles. Did you buy this accessory set? I heard it’s pretty expensive now. I never find any of the movie stuff at Walmart so I collect this line, but only when I can find it haha.
@@razrentals8897 nah soto shredder was the first tmnt movie anything I ever saw in store so I swooped him right up! He’s pretty amazing. Gonna start hopefully chipping away at the line.
@@razrentals8897 My Walmart had quite a few out last time I was there. I picked one up and shipped it to a buddy who was looking for him. I live in a rural area so there’s a chance they may still have some.
What about The Other Movie 🎥 April O’Neil figure from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 3 Turtles in time (1993 Figure) that she comes with a Golden scepter that can open the gates of time it self!
@@robd1329 the turtles were also comic con exclusive w neca saying they'd never be available again and a few months later gamestop had them and a year after that Walmart was getting them. It's neca, trust they'll be available again in some fashion...
The first movie is always great, tmnt 2 I kinda liked as a kid but it also moved me away from tmnt. It was a giant joke. Now being grown I hate it lol. It brings the end of days lol
I loved it as a kid too. Now I just watch it just to watch it every now and then. My kids liked the second one a lot. I think that’s the main thing. The first movie works on different levels so it works better for kids and adults. The second one is primarily a kids movie. Even Tokka and Rahzar kind of have a more kiddie appearance despite being big scary monsters. I’m surprised Eastman and Laird let it become what it was after trying to make the first one more like the comic and not like the cartoon. I guess it’s not so surprising when you consider the amount of money they got paid haha. I don’t even own 3 on Dvd which is unusual for my completionist mind.
I mean the first second movies are great but the first movie is the best the second one is also good but it's just not as iconic as the first one third one sucks
That's dumb to want a soto set for the part one turtles, the soto turtles were lighter green and had different shells and everything who ever thinks this way just aren't big enough fans to see the differences, that's like saying part 3 look the same too and holy crap they don't
