The original ones did come with the 'Mutation Charts', like all 12 figures in the line did. Note that the first wave made it more like 'evolution' of an entire species of mutants (starting as cavemen for Bebop, Rocksteady and Splinter; something fish/tadpole-like for the turtles), while the second wave (Shredder, Foot Soldier, April, Tokka, Rahzar) was more of a personal development of the character (Foot Soldier started as a light bulb, duh!). Why does everyone nowadays not flip the rubbery side 'panels' (where the intra-marginal shells on a real turtle would be) on to the front? The old instructions clearly tell you to do so (there even is this little notch underneath the belt buckle for them to lock on). Not doing so is rather bad for the durability of these things... Those side flaps usually were the most common thing to break on these figures (next up were the 'inside legs', that's why they changed the connection to metal screws since 2003).
FYI, the sides are meant to swing out, rotate and tab in behind the belt buckle. I'm so glad I had these as a kid, the reissues look terrible. Couple of years ago I had to buy a new Raph, my original was stolen by a "friend" of my brothers he didn't even bother to steal the weapons 🤣 Yes the Turtles did include those Mutation charts, really my favourite thing of the sets, think I still have one somewhere. I might pick up the Mutatin' baddies as I sadly never had those as they're slated for later this year.
I use to pinch my fingers messing with that darn tail. Yeah, as someone else stated. Those side panels spin down to become an underbelly. Great review!
I've seen the "Making of a Ninja" toys with the new art style. I noticed they're all a different shade of green and thought maybe that was why Raph is mint colored. I looked them up, and that's not the case though. Michelangelo is the mint colored one, and Raph is still the grass green color you described. Weird choice.
🎶 We're painting the wristbands red! Yes, painting the wristbands reeeeed!🎶 Maaan, this was a great vid! From A to Z it was perfect. Very entertaining! Especially the rods & balls LMFAOAOTP!!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey what’s up? I think the movie looks neat. I won’t judge it till I see it. The turtles have had a lot of different interpretations over the years so I think they’re one of the only franchises that can alter their style and still work. The animation looks awesome! I don’t have any desire to pick up any of the action figures though.
I was excited when the picture on the front showed the dark green, they finally got it right... then you opened the flap and I realized I don't need this.
I just got all 4! Regardless of the changes, my nostalgia levels were very high! I hope to see the Mutating Ninjas with the masks! I wasn’t too into the mutations that transformed into vehicles.
Yeah I feel like I’m fueling these bad re-releases because I’m buying them. But not for the figures, for the weapons. It’s a cheap and easy way to replace the weapons I’m missing from my original figures.
I don’t get it. Why rerelease something if your gonna make changes to the sculpt, cast it in a different color plastic and apply incomplete paint apps? Greta review as usual! Can’t wait to see what’s next!
@@vidfreak727 I’m not sure. You could probably find a close enough green but at that point it’s save you a lot of time just picking up an original figure.
Hey If you Review the new April from Neca can you compare her with some Super 7 TMNT figures? I don’t like the way the Super 7 one looks, she looks like a wax mannequin.
I don't collect this line but if I was i would probably make the effort to get the original vintage line. It would be more costly but I think you get more of the nostalgia. I would get this new line for kids.
I believe the color changing of the older figures might be something to do with the newer figures. If you compare the hues of the Movie Star reissues to the originals they are way off, however they all aline with the 2012 color pallets. It's possible that playmates is either being forced or chooses to keep the colors that current TMNT line.
I really hate the paint job. The color is wrong. The glossy glow is gone. It's more dull. And then to top it off, they do a crap job with the bandana and wrist bands. Just charge a little more if you need to. Sad. Great review!
I had Raph as a kid myself so this is really bringing back menories. That is really cheap they didn't paint the wrist bands. It looks fake as you said. Just remember Gary, these cheap rereleases basically killed the better Suoer7 Ultimates Turtle Toys... sigh... screw Playmates. They really don't care at all.
I thought Brian confirmed the Playmates rumor in some tweets where he said they couldn’t reproduce anything that only appeared on the original Playmates toys.
