This video should have been up 6 months ago, but I never had a chance to finish making it. Now finally it's here! This is a really long video about 1 toy haha, but I just think of it as a discussion or a pod cast with video.
Overall his proportions were trying to be both a real human and the character build to only fail somewhere in between. If nothing else a bit more work on the human figures to make better iterations in the future.
Thanks for sharing this! I got rid of all my old playmates tmnt, their lack of articulation and crazy proportions used to annoy the crap outta me as a kid compared to my gi joes. Nuts to see now how wacky Casey was, his head, hands, and feet are as big as super7, but he's super short! This was a great trip down memory lane.
Nice video and pretty cool detailed detailed analysis on Casey Jones. It’s amazing how autumn and super seven really captures the old TMNT toys. And even if you lose the original weapons you still have the weapons rack. Since I’m sure we’ve been there as kids of having those weapons but then we lose them. Making the playtime not so fun not having the weapons. So you did hear about the new Mirage Casey Jones they’re having soon?
Keep going with these longer form reviews/discussions, I get so frustrated by the 7 or 10 minute reviews I see so often, its like they have the bones of something but no meat. Your reviews, they got the meat! That's what fills the belly!

The only problem is some of them take a long time to put together. The NECA Fred Wolf toys especially take forever. These Super7 reviews are fun to make because I think it's fun to compare the old figure with the new one. I can't wait for Wave 5!!!
@@razrentals8897 Raz Rentals got the meats, the fixings, the full feast 😄😉 I've learned a lot about TMNT from your reviews, I always enjoy the comparisons and the history of the different media. How the toys and media and concepts develop over time is fascinating to me.
I do like the fact that Casey's original backstory (that they retconned in the Mirage comics, which is a shame) is that he didn't become a vigilante out of any altruistic purposes, but rather because he's purely a psycho who wants to emulate TV show characters. It's a nice parody on the origins. I don't care for the Super7 line personally. They're just emulating the original Playmates line (as you say), which feels pretty redundant to me. Plus NECA are doing a lot of very interesting stuff I always wanted (comic line, movie line). But each to their own. They do look nice, just personally not for me.
Goongala! I was in college when the 2003 series came out too. I decided to display them instead, girls back then were NOT impressed with my feng shui; God Bless my wife! I remember being so excited bonding with my son over the 2012 series and it's toys. Awesome review! You werent negative at all, Super7 needs to stay consistent! I think they like to get a new license, start off strong... and then cut corners. Thanks again for all your hard work!
I’m sorry I didn’t respond to this sooner. My wife (then fiancé) had to put up with me collecting the 2003 toys back then. I’d drag her to Kmart, Walmart, toys r us, the mall, looking for them. I’m lucky she didn’t drop me back then haha. I also bought my one son most of the 2012 toys. Basically every 2012 toy I use in my reviews is one I had to find in his toy chest.
I like the Super7 Casey. If you look at the Playmates original, he’s not massive like a bodybuilder, but is skinny and wirey with some muscle definition. He reminds me of when your older brother first starts lifting weights as a teenager and flexes in front of the mirror all the time, but is still mostly skinny. So I like that the Super7 Casey is on the skinnier side. I actually thought his promo pics he looked a little too thick, more like Hulk Hogan size or something, which didn’t capture the Casey Jones character. I’ve found the best way to look at Super7 Casey is to display him where his waist is just below your eye level. It helps hide some of his strangeness of proportion. Also having his bag on him helps in this way as well. I like his mask too, especially the wash they have painted on it. But I do see your point about his pointy nose not looking like a mask. Again, I feel that can be solved by displaying him directly facing you. About the pants: The promo pics made his pants look very gray. I actually think the final product gave him at least hints of that lilac color the original Playmates had. (Actually, I own two original Playmates Caseys, and there was variation: one has noticeably purple-tinted pants, whereas the other one is very gray and not purple at all.) So I think Super7 might have been going for a happy medium with the very-slightly-purple shade of the pants. Overall, I’m very happy with the Super7 Casey’s colors. Even the newly-colored shirt works for me, as it brings out the blue in his hair, and, I don’t know, it just works for me. And I’m usually a stickler for details. For instance, I don’t like how there’s no purple-haired Bebop alternative in the Super7 line. But overall, I really like the Super7 Casey figure, but if not displayed in the specific ways I mentioned, then I agree, it can look a little weird.
This entire line confuses the hell out of me. Like, I get that they’re updated version of the original toys but it just looks off to me to see a $40-$60 figure glistening in the lights in 2022 and the Party Wagon they have coming looks like an entirely original design. The April in this line is still one of the ugliest figs I’ve seen in years. The turtles all look WAY Better than everything else in the line and the packaging is amazing but your prob paying a pretty penny for that box. I’d love to hear your opinion on the new GITD turtles Super7 put up for preorder at $65 each or $260 for the set….. All this first world bitching aside, these figs still look like a great time. Just super expensive and not as nice as I think they should be.
Dude, there is no reason those new glow in the dark turtles should cost that much! They already milked the mold 4 times on the buck turtle body they all already share (their shells all match the same battle damage). Second, there is no weapons rack and way less accessories! And lastly, the paint job is at a minimum. Nothing "ultimate" about them. This will be my 1st pass on the Ultimate Turtles line.
I was satisfied with Casey Jones, but I had to buy several of them to find one without noticeable paint errors. So far, the only figure in this line that bothers me is Baxter, and that's only because he can barely stand, and his wings are off by 90 degrees.
Serious question as I've watched a lot of your videos, but do you actually enjoy anything you buy? I get making a figure review means maybe going over a figure in more detail and I agree the torso is super weird and worth mentioning, but this is an hour of just nitpicking this figure to death. If I went over anything I bought in this much detail I wouldn't buy anything again from anyone. Stuff like the head size, something I still don't see, or the legs which oddly my figure either doesn't have or maybe again something I am not seeing. Just hoping you can find your happy spot one day and enjoy the things you buy. I think an hour on one figure, of any line or company, and you WILL find lots of things you wish they'd done differently. You'll never own a perfect figure, but I think most of what we get these days is so good and worth some praise. Have a good one and I hope the next figures you get bring you some happiness.
I like most of the toys I buy haha. Honestly! I try not to be overly negative in my reviews and I think most of the time I try to have a silver lining. Recently a bunch of people called me a shill because I said I liked the new Thundercats toys despite having some problems with them. That’s how I felt about this guy. He’s got some negative things that bug me, but I still like him. I just think he could have been a lot better. I can understand completely why they wouldn’t bother other people because all of these things are subjective. Except the torso haha. I try not to be like Comic Book Guy or some crazy nit picky fan. If anything I’m usually trying to point out how amazingly accurate and sometimes even better super7 has made the ultimates. Muckman, mutagen man, and Bebop we’re all amazing. Even with the turtles themselves, I was amazed at how they managed to capture the playmates muscle definition and veins/little details all while making them modern. Raphael is what got me to start my channel! Some of the length of the videos is me thinking about these differently than regular reviews. I kind of see these videos as if me and the viewer were hanging out talking about toys. Just what id say about them. Instead of just saying I like or dislike something I should elaborate on it and get down to what I think the cause of the problem is. It kind of reminds me of being a kid playing guys with one of your buddies. You could sit there for hours just talking about the figures. With a figure like Casey I thought it be interesting to compare him to Shredder because they both use the same body. Shredder won me over, because I never liked the playmates figure so I figured I’d see why Casey felt off for me at least. Don’t worry I’m not sitting in a dark basement, brooding and thinking about how super7 ripped me off or whatever haha. This is all just fun. Whether it’s something good or bad I just like discussing it and seeing what other people have to say. Other than April and Casey I’ve been really happy with the Ultimates line and I’m dying to get wave 5! Samurai Leo and Ray Filet especially! Sorry this response is so long. I have a habit of talking too much!
@@razrentals8897 That's good to hear. I think lately I've seen so many people just loose their minds on figures from all brands. I know these cost money, etc. and they should be well made, but I also know that stuff happens and I'll say Super 7 has great customer service so I've been safe so far from any disasters. It's like with Hasbro going plastic free and now I see so much hate and vitriol. I see videos from people with thousands of dollars of figures behind them complaining about paying $30 for a figure and I scratch my head. Maybe don't buy everything in existence lol. I just subscribed as I like a creator that is honest and can have fun with all of this. Looking forward to us both getting that Wave 5 of TMNT, hearing they could hit any day now from the last Brian Flynn interview so crossing my fingers. I've got Wave 5 of Thundercats coming this week too, so I am super pumped.
that and maybe even make super 7 casey jones a completely unique mold instead of reusing any body parts from shredder and the foot soldiers too, just saying...
