Mirage volume 2 of the TMNT is a lot of fun. It was in full color, we had interesting story lines, and we were introduced to some great characters for the first time.

Funny story I originally liked IDW and Rise more but now I preferer TMNT 1987 and both Mirage and Archie comics

Jim Lawson isn't my favorite artist, but I'd much prefer him to Mr. Campbell at IDW. I agree with you about TMNT Vol. 4. Laird was literally giving these comics away for free digitally (charging money only for physical copies) and I just stopped reading them. From what I remember, aliens were on Earth and mingling with humans, and the TMNT could now just openly walk around.

This is a great video man. I find Vol 2 such an interesting phenomenon. I kinda see it like George Harrison in the sense of it being the silent volume. I think it was just the time this volume came out, I see the more edgy aspects of later Mirage not being done for cheap heat compared to something like image (still love those dumb image comics). And I think it just a highlight of Jim Lawson’s strengths as a creative talent given the situation mirage was in during the late 90’s. I’m just hoping to find the last couple of issues at con I’m going to in a few weeks.

The unending nature of American comics is it's biggest flaw. Self contained stories at least give reads a beginning, middle, and end. Stan SAki sometimes manages to get 2 Usagi Yojimbo stories in one comic.

Once again an entertaining video. What would you think of a TMNT video from Archie comics? I've been thinking about reading them for a while. Can you recommend them?

I really just want Jim Lawson to come back and do his own Turtle series. I love the fan projects he's been doing but I miss the Mirage feel. I wish Eastman would draw more full issues too. I really appreciate his covers but we need to bring it home.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare the first 13 issues of IDW pre relaunch to Volume 2. With the first issues of IDW, they had to establish the new world and status quo and everything. Volume 2 they just, continued off of where volume 1 ended. They don’t even, like, reintroduce you to the characters you may or may not know if this is your first tmnt book like archie sonic. It would be more fair to compare the first volume to IDW’s first volume instead, or, maybe you could’ve saved this for this for Jason Aaron’s tmnt run to be done with its 13 issues.

I don't think it takes a dozen issues to tell an origin story. Mirage explained the entire origin story in a few pages.

@@Tatoruzu he was a scarny billionaire tycoon turned greedy terrorist on the fbi most wanted list who destroyed the unofficial "fantastic four baxter building" and threatened to 911 the twin towers in 1985 with his mousers, to being knocked out by Raphael when he was about to commit suicide by bringing the mousers back to his bunker to eat him the turtles and april they left him in the sewers in that dark bunker to be arrested by NYPD looking for him whilst the turtle drops off april on the surface and looks to find splinter in their ruined compromised first lair what was baxter stockman up too between the t.c.r.i. saga gaining casey as an ally the shredders return / Massachusetts saga to return to nyc to city at war go we're to assume he was locked up in prison got jacked there, to escaping prison to hitchhike and make his way to area 51 D.A.R.P.A facility. I wish they would've made a comic for baxter stockman diving deeper into his life as a m.i.t graduate getting into tech a.i. robotics and pest extermination to being a psychopath having a romantic crush on his employee april up to himself being foiled by the turtles.

@@Tatoruzu also speaking of 911 why does the tmnt predict it in the 1985 comic and 1987 cartoon that the twin towers were going to be destroyed and why do they have illuminati references in the tmnt media like the 1987 2003 and 2012 show.

@@Tatoruzu I mean he was a scrawny dude, but they never explained or shown what he was up too after issue two during the events of the t.c.r.i saga, the turtles making an ally out of casey shredders return back from the grave the Massachusetts retreat return to nyc & city at war, by then baxter would've atleast tried to get revenge on april sooner he was ousted by the nypd apparently by april if we're to assume thats the first thing she did when she got cleaned up, was notify baxters crimes to the FBI to put him on the most wanted when he tried to anonymously threaten the twin towers in the year 1985 after he destroyed an unofficial fantastic four baxter building in issue 2. But they don't show any aftermath after he tried to kill himself along with april and the turtles with his own mousers after being knocked out by Raphael in that bunker in the lower level of his stockgen building, we assume he was picked up and jailed after the turtles drop off April on the surface and find splinters gone missing in a struggle with mousers and their old lair compromised by baxters stockgen mousers. I wish they would've made a comic exploring his life like the Dream wave idw comic & 2003 show attempted to give him a backstory, of how baxter grew up to be a M.I.T graduate an A.I. robotics engineer starting a pest control buisness startup to having a crush on his employee april O'Neil to going mad and insane to being foiled by the turtles.

@@tyronleung5276 The Twin Towers were a recognizable landmark, so seeing them destroyed instantly would let the reader know something major had happened and the city was in bad shape. Also, terrorists had tried to destroy the Twin Towers before 2001. The failed attempt was even referenced in the 1990s Spider-Man cartoon. I don't know anything about Illuminati references in any TMNT shows. (And I've only seen a couple episodes of the 2012 show.)

Lawson killed the book for me, his art was terrible starting with City at War. His earlier stuff in vol 1 was fine. I wrote in and was told that he just changed his art style. Volume one is the only true volume in my opinion.
